It was late, much later than Ciel had realized when she came into town. It was strange to her. Years had passed since she last stepped foot in it, and nothing was like she remembered. A small frown tugged at the corner of her lip as that realization struck her. The desolate surroundings sent a chill racing up her spine, eliciting an actual shudder from her body.
This was not the home she knew. It was a warning she had been clearly given before she'd gone on her journey. One she had denied in it's entirety. Sure, rumours of the chaos in the city had come to her new home. However it had been merely written off as garbage talk of rumours.
Now, clutching a satchel at her side, it hurt more than she could ever have imagined. Her brain whirred in her head, thoughts of simply turning tail and leaving throttled themselves to the forefront. It made the most logical sense. Then her heart beat that logic into the ground. She came this far, she had to stay.
She had to see if there was anything left from before all this.
... After all, it couldn't get any worse.

It was late... rather late, and he probably should have been off in recharge. But Blues had been feeling -restless-, and trying to charge while feeling this way would have been futile. Either Forte would have had to secure him in a death hug to stop his tossing and turning, or maybe kick him out..or something. Whatever. Blues had taken it on himself to just head out for a quick patrol to burn off some of his energy before truly settling down for rest. The red bot picked his way through the ruins of the outer city...maybe he had wandered further than originally intended but he was a general and could do these things! There wasn't much light out in this area, aside from the stars and moon above...and the glowing fluttering wings that plagued him. One day...one day he'd learn to control those things.

The darkness of this place had left Ciel with an uncertainty of how long she'd been wandering. Searching for anything that was familiar. So far the only thing she recognized was the large tower in the center of the city. It was far off and she could tell it had been being worked on. Unfinished. Familiar yes, but not the same.
It was such an odd feeling. Things changed, people changed. These were truths she was familiar with. Difference being, mind you, that you usually had time to adjust. Things changed gradually and in small portions. Not abruptly and so heavily.
Ciel pulled the helmet from her head, shaking her hair out and running a hand back through the long tresses. Despite how awful the place looked, it didn't seem to be terribly unsafe. Her feet continued to find the strength to keep walking, pausing every now and then to examine this or that, keeping a few things and tucking them away in her small satchel.
Something caught her eye then. Suddenly and just barely. A flash of light? No, it was still glowing. Something was glowing!
"Huwah?" turning towards the light, the girl made her way through the debris and rubble, turning a corner to come almost face to face with what had to be a reploid.
A reploid... with wings. Light wings.
Ciel's jaw dropped in awe, her breath hitching in her throat. This was different, but it was an amazing sight to behold. Reploids were a driving force in her life to start with, this however? This reploid was impressive.
She couldn't help but gawk.
Though one question quickly popped into her mind.
"Isn't it kinda dark for sunglasses?" she found herself suddenly piping up, loud enough to be heard.

"It's -never- too dark for sunglasses, especially not with these following me around."
The answer came naturally, very calm...cool. Though inside Blues was wondering just -who- was talking to him, on the outside he showed nothing.
He did, at least, turn to eye her, his helmeted head cocked slightly to the side as he looked over the newcomer. He wasn't much in the mood to have anyone comment over his tiny ears today, so ...helmet it had been.
"I can't say I've seen you around...either some of the Citizens are extremely good at hiding...even from Wily's census bots, or you're new."
She didn't seem very threatening, so he relaxed his shield arm just a bit. Resting the heavy object on the ground and leaning a bit of his weight on it.

"Science would disagree. It can definitely be too dark for sunglasses." she grinned, especially since the reploid seemed to relax after a moment. She scanned her eyes over his shield. Impressive. Though still not as impressive as the wings on his back.
"New? No. Well, technically speaking, no." she shifted to tie her helm off at the strap of her satchel, letting it hang there instead of forcing herself to hold it in her hands.
"I used to live here. Many, many years ago. Heard rumours of what had happened, didn't believe it so I came to check it out myself." her head took a momentarily swivel, glancing over the nearby area.
"Guess the rumours were true..." her attention then turned back to Blues.
"Quick question, if you don't mind bearing the weight of my curiousity... why does your shield say "hope" on it?"

"And science would disagree again, at least on the point that for -my- optical units it is never too dark for sunglasses." Oh the joys of overly sensitive eyes. Thanks dad.
Ah...so not a complete newcomer, but someone wandering back only recently. It was sort of shocking to him that a Citizen who had previously 'escaped' would still want to come back after hearing the rumors of what happened here in Wily's City.
"So...you have heard the rumors of what happened, but never of the City's hero who used to be their hope, yet quickly fell into darkness?" He let the question hang, not seeming to want to explain his shield any further than that for the moment.

"Alright, that's fair." true, she wasn't sure how his optics were set up. Though it was rather strange that anyone would program a reploid with sensitive optics. It definitely had to be a problem for him if the glasses went missing. Momentarily she considered the chance that he could become gravely injured from such a thing.
Her attention was dragged from considering the plight of his optics to raising a brow at his puzzling response to her question. Drumming her fingers lightly against her helm, she shook her head.
"No... can't say that I have heard of that." she knitted her brow, "I definitely have no recollection of that. Fairly certain that rumour never drifted home. I take it your shield is to mock that person? If he was the hero, does that make you the villain?" she found that hard to imagine.
There was a chance that thought was influenced heavily by his tiny blue fairy wings though.

As if they -knew- they were being mocked, the tiny wings fluttered rapidly behind the red general. His neutral look slowly turned to a bit of a frown.
"Mock? No. I am that person. Sometimes you have to play both the hero and the villain."
It was a delicate balance... It wasn't all that long ago that his shield had gone on to say "RIDES ALONE". These days it was back to simply HOPE. Part of him still desperately wished to be the hope the Citizens of this good city needed.
And part of him would never be able to forgive them or his father for what they had done.

"Huh. Seems like a conflict of interest yah? I guess though. Sometimes you have to do things people don't agree with for the greater good and all? Something like that anyways I suppose." she grinned as his wings fluttered.
"I've never seen a reploid with wings before. I have to say, whomever you are, you are rather impressive. I mean that." really, she was enjoying their conversation. The things he said made as little sense as they made complete sense.
She liked that.
"My name's Ciel, by the way." she offered a gloved hand out to the reploid.

He had been about to complain about the wings and how he used to not be plagued by them, but the next words out of her mouth stopped him. ..Impressive? Someone thought a prototype like him was impressive? It...it was enough to cause a genuine smile to crack on the usually unimpressed face of the general.
"Well..thank you, Ciel. And a conflict of interest perhaps. But I assure you I have my reasons...and if you hang around the City long enough you'll hear all the tales. Proto the Hero! General Proto the terror of the City!"
The red bot eyed her hand a moment before shifting his shield and extending his gloved paw to her. "And with that, I suppose I should introduce myself. General Proto....or Blues. Either name works these days." He gave the other a firm shake before pulling his paw away again.

"Well, I don't plan on going anywhere for awhile. So I look forward to hearing these stories." Ciel chuckled. She did her best to return the firmness of his shake, though it was no where near the same.
"General Proto, or Blues hmm? I like Blues, so I think I will go with that. Works with your fur." she tilted her head a little, motioning to the neat pattern. "Don't see patterns like that on reploids often either. Very cool, Blues." she was grinning ear to ear. The smile that had cracked on his own face had infected her own.
"I may be biased though." she laughed as her similarly striped tail swished out in front of her, only replaced blue and white for pink and white.

"Don't let the younger bots hear you calling me cool. They'll get jealous." Right, an old antique being cool. Ha. Not that he couldn't hold his own against the newer bots, but they definitely had more bells and whistles than he did. Though he was the only one with fairy wings...
Joy.
Blues tilted his head a bit, eying the rather similar fur pattern on the other. "Hey, so long as it's in my favor be as biased as you want."

"You're making it sound like you're outdated or something." Ciel made a face, but brushed at her tail a bit. "I can't imagine that being the case... and hah. Well when it comes to this pattern the bias isn't going anywhere." fluffing out her tail a bit more, she finally let it drop back behind herself.
"Are there a lot of reploids here now?"
