The calico took in a deep breath of chilled air and let it out with a sigh. The skies were a clear, pale blue, even more so than her eyes. The Angora looked out from the roof top to her old home it had been quite the journey the last while it had taken them far and then back home once again. It felt good to come back to a place she knew so dearly.

She looked back, Kyou would be catching up soon enough she was in charge of finding a safe place for at least the night. They once had a large empty warehouse to themselves but then they had left some time later to explore. It had been fun, they'd seen many, many things but to her it was nice to just return home at last. She wanted to settle down, maybe even into a territory.

With the thought she wondered how much Ikebokuro had changed since they had left. It had been a long time and I lot could happen in 2 years. There would be new cats, old friends, new territories and old. But what did it mean to them? They had never been very social before, and she doubted anyone even knew they had left or missed them. She hugged her arms to her chest and looked back out for a sign of the ginger headed shorthair and sighed. All they had was each other, and honestly that was all she needed in the end.

Orange ears twitched in the cold darkness while bright eyes watched carefully for any signs of movements. Suddenly, a twitch! The shorthair pounced, caught and killed the rabbit in one graceful movement, his prey hanging limply from his sharp teeth. The tom quickly ran off in front of him, eager to catch up to his mate.

It was so strange to be back here again. To be "home" again. It had been so long. The adventure was worth it, of course. It always was when he was exploring with Minagi. They had both grown so much on the journey and had done so together. It had made the two even closer then Kyou could have ever imagined. Before they had left they were lovers. Now he felt like she was a piece of his own heart.

The tom ran gracefully, the rabbit dangling in his mouth as he did so. His orange eyes looked out in front of him, looking for a swish of fluffy calico tail. When he spotted it he stopped running and walked up beside her. He moved the rabbit to one of his hands and put the other one of his long arms around her waist and whispered "Welcome home."

A purr instantly rose in her throat her his touch as she laid her head on his shoulder. "That it is. I was just wondering how much this place has probably changed since we left. How will we know what's changed, we kept to ourselves so much." she sighed and turned to look at the love of her life. A smile spreading over her lips as she reached up and thumbed away the bit of blood at the corner of his mouth from the kill.

She gave him a soft kiss and looked back out as the lights of the city began to glow of fireflies in the chilled air. It was a beautiful sight to behold, the noise and smells, the simple feeling of the energy from the little kitty.
"I suppose we should find ourselves a spot to settle for the night. We and move forward from there. I don't want to chance running into any stray dogs" she said with a slight. If there was one thing she was afraid of it was that, even the most friendly of dogs she was terrified of and never had an explanation of it.

The tom nuzzled her as they both looked onto the place they loved. "I'd say it's probably changed a lot" the male spoke, his voice low and soft. "But we've changed a lot as well...I think. But your right. We might not even be able to tell what has changed here." he added, a smirk playing on his lips as his mate removed the blood from his lips. Her thumb left a spot of warmth on the corner of his mouth which pleased him greatly.

He pulled her closer to him as they kissed and watched the lights of the city coming on. It had been so long since they had been in a city last. Although the male was not a huge fan of other cats or people or crowds he couldn't help but feel a small amount of excitement at the idea of being in such a busy city once again. It was sensory overload and although Kyou would have previously hated such a thing with Minagi by his side it would be a lot more fun. When his mate spoke to him he nodded, well aware of her fear of dogs of any kind. "Okay lets go look. We should certainly find somewhere soon. I'm sure the smell of blood from this will draw some attention to us, be it cats or dogs." he spoke as he raised the rabbit in his hand in the air. "Will we try the warehouse again or will we just try and find a shed or abandoned house for now?" the tom asked her, knowing how she was both anxious and a very good locator of safe places.

Minagi settled into his arm like it was the only safe place in the world. That was the question, could the warehouse still be empty, or could a gang of strays be living there by now. It certainly wouldn't be a surprise if that were the case. The thoughts mulled about her mind as her blue eyes searched out the buildings in the distance.

There just outside of the limits was a dark little hut, no lights and seemed a bit run down. With any luck it would be abandoned and they could at least spend the night there. Maybe it would, even make a good home if it were nice enough. Just outside the city so it wouldn't be too over whelming yet at the same time close enough to be able to get supplies, interact with others and so on.

Pointing down the slope towards the hut she bit her lips ever so slightly. "What do you think about that little hut? Just outside the city, but we're still close enough. It should be good for the night at the very least as long as no one is already there, right?" Her ears perked forward with her interest piqued now by the little place. That and the smell of the rabbit was starting to become quite intoxicated and she wanted to settled down so that they could eat it. If the rabbit was nice enough they could even skin the fur and cure it carefully into the beginnings of a new blanket.

Kyou purred softly as she settled into his arm despite himself. He wouldn’t be surprised if some other cats had now taken over the warehouse. The though oddly upset him, although he wasn’t even sure why. He felt some attachment to the big warehouse that the two had spent so much time in. It was a place of a lot of learning and many, many firsts.

The tom studied his mates face as she looked out over the city, the lights casting shadows and light in it beautifully. He would be willing to sleep in a box for the night if it meant another night with her. In reality they had already slept in worse places anyway. In damp caves and in the roots of trees. It didn’t really matter where they were or where they slept as long as they were in it together.

Orange eyes snapped out of their little trance and followed Minagi’s finger as she pointed to a little abandoned looking hut not too far away. It looked a bit beat up but it also looked life it could be a safe place for the night at the very least, if not for a longer period of time if it turned out to be a nice place to live. “That looks like it could work. At the moment it at least looks like it’s not swarming with strays.” he said, smelling the air for other cats. “Let’s go.” As he spoke he took her hand and led the change to the little hut, his ears listening carefully for the sound of other animals and his nose smelling for strays that could be sleeping in the place. He led his mate through a crack in the door and into the hut, her rabbit dangling limply in his other hand as they moved.

Minagi climbed through the crack after him. It didn't smell like other cats in here and in fact in the far corner was an abandoned raccoon nest. That would be a great start for a place to sleep. She poked around the corners, looking at all the crevices to make sure there weren't any unwanted guests hidden away. Her large ears twitched and listened intently, but she couldn't find anything but a couple of little bugs that wouldn't be any sort of bother to them.

"Well it certainly seems safe enough and we've even got a head start with that old next. I'll fix it all up so it's a bit more comfortable for us." she smiled back at Kyou brightly, tail flickering contently. It was a nice little place with a window up high with a lovely little ledge that allowed the moon light to spill through and give just enough light to the place for them to see better than in pitch darkness. Just as well it could serve as a lookout, as long as some bird hadn't made a next up there. It was too high to tell.

Her stomach gave a short, low grumble and she held a hand to herself and blushed a bit and giggled. "I guess I'm starting to get a little hungry. Would you like me to help you skin the rabbit?" she asked moving back to Kyou's side with a loving smile. She wanted to provide for him as much as he provided and protected her. his journey back to Ikebokuro had her thinking. if they settled down here at last, maybe it was time to start thinking about kittens? That was of course if Kyou was ready for such a bit responsibility. She wasn't she he was ready for such talk and she wasn't ready to have such a deep discussion.

Kyou had joined his mate in inspecting the small hut. It certainly had a lived in feel but in a way it almost added to the coziness of the place. It would certainly do for the night though, if not for longer than that. He brushed off some of the dust that was covering some of the corners on the hut. Maybe if they could find a few blankets and lights and stuff this place would be positively lovely. He smiled slightly at the prospect. A new place to come home to. A nice, stable home to share with Minagi. What a wonderful thought.

"No problems that I can spot anyway." the tom replied, her orange ears flicking around for sounds. "If we got some blankets and other small things like that I think it would be perfect. You have great eyes love." he said softly, following her eyes to the window. If they got a ladder or some boxes they could probably make the ledge accessible to climb up to. Then the two of them could star gaze and looking down at the city. Any birds that might be up there could make for a very tasty dinner.

Kyou smiled as her stomach grumbled. If truth be told he was pretty darn hungry himself. They had been travelling all day and hadn't stopped for food as they were so focused on just getting here. "I am too. I would love to help you." he said, his voice soft in the night. He passed Minagi the rabbit gently, wrapping is tail around her as he watched her skin their dinner. He wasn't really sure what the future held. He had never really been one to think about the future too much. In the past he would have said that he could never see a future for himself and certainly not a happy one. But when he was with Minagi he could see a future, a future with her and maybe...maybe a family? He wasn't sure if that that was what Minagi wanted and they had yet to really discuss it, both happy being "free" cats together. Maybe it was time for that discussion soon though?

Minagi sat on the floor and carefully skinned the rabbit with a small knife from her pack. She kept it plenty sharp in case she every needed to defend herself or Kyou. It made itself the perfect choice for skinning small animals. Despite being hungry she was careful to take her time to make the pelt as complete as she could. Most people would just tear the skin off, but that was a bit difficult and could ruin the fur. She needed that to start making blankets.

She wiped her forehead with her wrist, trying to keep from using her bloodied hands, and still managed a small smear across her forehead. She thanked the rabbit silently for it's sacrifice to keep them healthy and strong. It was a habit she had picked up some time ago and it made her feel more at east while eating. With a quick twist of the knife, at last the pelt fell away and there was nothing left but the skinned rabbit and its wide empty eyes staring into nothing. A smile back at Kyou and Minagi began to examine her work, there were a couple spots that were a little off, but nothing that would make the pelt unusable.

"So what do you think? A couple more rabbits like that and we'll have a nice big blanket to keep up comfy." She grinned and pushed herself to her feet. "I should clean my paw though, the blood is already starting to dry and I hate that feeling on my paws." She wrinkled her nose in disgust, still smiling though and touched her nose to Kyou's before turning to start liking her paws clean as fast as she could, not quite enjoying the half dried taste.

She kept sneaking small glances at Kyou, he'd make a wonderful father, he was strong and protective. He was passionate and kind, at least with her he was. They rarely had come in contact with other cats she it was in a sense it's only mystery of how Kyou would react to being back in Ikebokuro. But would he be open to kittens?

Kyou sat cross-legged beside the female, his tail still wrapped loosely around her waist. Being able to sit like this with her was nice. His orange eyes watched and she removed the small knife from her pack. It always comforted him that she had it with her. Although Kyou was a skilled martial artist if another cat or animal came at him with a weapon he might be in trouble without his mate beside him.

He watched with interest as Minagi skilled the rabbit, continuing to be astonished by her skill. He was just awful at skinning rabbits. Before meeting Minagi he would have just slept on the cold ground or tried to steal a blanket from the rubbish. When she was finished he leaned over and kissed her gently on the forehead where she had smeared a small amount of blood. He then licked it off and pulled away with a smile. "You go and wash your hands then. Your skills are really improving. I can see the improvement with every rabbit you skin." he said, his voice soft and gruff. He was looking forward to eating the animal with her once she had washed her hands. Minagi was always particular at keeping her hands clean.

Kyou watched her clean her paws, smiling fondly as she did so. How strange that one cat could change him so much. That one cat could make his heart so soft. It was beyond belief in some way. When he watched her he could see their future. Her grooming their kits clean while he prepared his latest kill for them all to eat. Only a few years ago that would have never even crossed his mind. But a few years ago he hadn't met Minagi.

Minagi eyed Kyou out of the corner of her eye and a slight smile touched the corner of her mouth as he got started on the food. It took a little time to get all the blood off. Once it was all gone she flexed her fingers and checked under her nails to be sure she'd gotten it all. With that done she crept over behind Kyou to see ow the food was coming. It smelled amazing! Kyou had become quite the cook, even if he was a bit picky about some foods, like leeks which she adored though he would endure them if need be.

Plopping down with a soft flump next to Kyou on top of her thick, fluffy tail she watched the fire entranced. It was just a small contained thing that wasn't likely to spread by any means. Just enough to cook by and it was wonderful, it brought a wonderful sense of warmth and almost home to the place. It was one of the more enclosed, secure places they had taken up in some time. During their travels many night had just been spent in the crooks and roots of trees. To have a real shelter was quite something, even grandiose!

In the fire she imagined their future, settling down at last after so many wonderous travels, with stories upon stories to tell little ones of their crazy days that they wouldn't believe no matter how true they really were. "We've had quite the run haven't we my love? I'm glad we're going to finally sort of settle down and take things a little slower. Just a steady place to call home at the end of the day." She said, almost sad now that the adventure of travel was over now. But then again, they made it all the way back to Ikebokuro which at one point they had debated if they would ever come back even, yet here they were, back at their beginning, full circle.
