While Vee might be bit monochromatic when it comes to her appearance and clothing choices, it's more than enough for her. Blue is a perfectly nice colour, so who CARES if her nose is one colour and her skin one and her eyes 'nother and hair, clothes, shoes... They're NICE colours. Very good ones. They look very good on her.

So while Vee may be a fashion nightmare to some people, she holds her head high, proudly, and doesn't let other people get her down. Her pale ice eyes are firm and unwavering when they meet someone else's, and her posture is straight - the fault of being raised by a military family.

Personality: Even if Vera hadn't been treated like she was the last hope for a dying planet, it's likely that Vera still would've been exceedingly strong willed and stubborn. Like her mother in both appearance and personality, Vera knows what she wants and she will get it, whether you want to give it to her or not. It can't be said that Vera doesn't know her worth, either, yet paradoxically, being told so much of her worth and importance has fed a very strong inferiority complex whenever Vera can't do anything. She becomes sharp-tongued at the offer of help and would prefer failing by herself than allowing someone to help her and admitting weakness in any way.

Her mother told her she is perfect, after all, and on the occasion that Vera cannot be just that, perfect and everything Rebecca wanted, she becomes very upset with herself. If she's not a perfect psychonaut agent in training, what is she? What else is there? Nothing.

Because of her perfectness that is not quite perfectness, Vera does have a lot of faults. She won't ever admit she's wrong, not even if it's staring her in the face, and - because of this - has a hard time functioning in group settings. Her way is best, after all, and it always will be.

As such, though she is a loyal friend, she can be an overbearing one. Again, she wants what's best for her friends and thinks that she always knows what's best, so she can drive people away. As a younger child, during important formative years, Vera was alienated from her peers through constant travel between her mother and her father, and so lacks a lot of understanding of how friendships are meant to work.

Vera is a very proud little girl, of herself, of her accomplishments, of everything around her, but her ego is also very fragile and can easily be broken. Insulting something she's proud of or pointing out that she's really not very good at something are tantamount to telling her she's a horrible failure who will never do anything and die hungry and alone, or something of that horrible calibre.

Still, it's a lie to say that Vera doesn't have her strong points as well. She's honest, respectful to her superiors (the teachers will get no backsass from this little girl, to be certain, if only for fear that they tell her momma on her), and despite her failings, rather inventive and creative. If Vera is left alone with puzzles and tools, whether she solves it or not, you can bet safely that she will be trying her best to figure it out, even if it frustrates the s**t out of her in the mean time.

Vera, also despite her shortcomings, really is a very smart little girl. She has a mind for theories and strategies, and enjoys games of focus and planning, and enjoys questions in which there is no one right answer, because she can show off her off the wall thought patterns.

However, despite her mother's best efforts, Vera is not a very physically active nor a fit girl, and she prefers to spend her time indoors making plans or playing games instead of frolicking through the forest or going on runs.

History: Vera Sharpe-Gilley is the second born child to established psychonauts Alec Sharpe and Rebecca Gilley. While Rebecca often works in the field, Alec works in diplomatic matters. As such, Vera's family life was always very divided between her parents - sometimes she was abroad with her dad, sometimes she was in America with her mom, and sometimes both parents foisted her off on Jack, her elder brother of 8 years, when neither had the time to really put into raising her.

It's not that they don't love Vera or that they don't love Jack - they do, they love both their children. Just, some people aren't really equipped to be parents and Alec and Rebecca are definitely that. Work obsessed, strict, Vera's childhood was sometimes more like bootcamp than growing up, but they didn't do this out of any malice. From her infancy, she was taught psychic basics. She was too young to actually use any powers, of course - her parents weren't stupid, after all - but they held the expectation that both of their children would be psychic, thank-you-very-much, and they would be well trained when that day came. Vera knew the theories and sciences behind psychic abilities as soon as she knew why the sun sets and raises, and could name a variety of psychic powers alongside reciting the countries in alphabetical order.

She was only 3 when her brother's powers awoken and, though he enjoyed his developed power, which was aura reading, Vera didn't have to be psychic to read that her mother was disappointed with the lack of active powers. As such, it fell to Vera. It was too late now to have yet another kid - and she didn't want another kid anyway, especially not just to have one that could actually DO SOMETHING with their powers - and so Vera, 3 years old and babbling about psychics like she had been born to it (as she, well, had) became a prodigy. She had shown no signs of being a prodigy, not really. It was just kind of.. hoping Vera would become what her mother wanted her to be.

And while Vera couldn't do anything to assure she'd become a psychic with good, active, obvious powers, Vera could study like her life depended on it. When she managed to freeze the fridge shut one day in frustration (the fridge air locked after it had been closed and open and needed a moment until it could be reopened), her mother practically threw a party.

Of course, Vera would be going to camp. Of course, Vera would be taught at the best facility Rebecca could get her hands at, no matter what Alec said.

With that, Vera's bags were packed for her and she was shipped off to Murmuring Pines.

Family:
Alec Sharpe - 48 - father - psychonaut; diplomat.
Rebecca Gilley - 45 - mother - psychonaut: field agent
Jack Sharpe-Gilley - 20 - brother - agent: ??
