After a fight over a woman who lies to lie through her teeth, Dale found no reason for him to be in this small little town. Sure, they can find another cook, there was no doubt, but he just needed to get.. away. No, he didn't tell anyone that he was leaving, nor was he planning to. Hearing a car engine roaring in the distance, Barbie turned around and saw an oncoming vehicle. Extending his thumb out, he watched as the car slowed down, creating the illusion that they were going to stop. But that's all it was: an illusion. At if at the last minute, mind changed, the woman in the driver side slammed down on the gas pedal and continued down Little b***h Road. With a heavy sigh, Barbie decided to not hold it against the woman. He purposely ran through ideas as to why she was the victim, allowing her to be, in the end, innocent. With a heavy sigh, Barbie continued to hike down the empty road.
Faye was sitting with Nate, drinking her coffee and waiting for Nate's friend. She says Nate's friend because she never met this.. Del woman before. However, she promised to keep claws away and play nice. However, when looking at the grill, she didn't see Barbie. Furrowing her brows and looking to Dale's best friend, Nate, she decided to speak up. "So, tell me, why isn't Barbie here? Isn't this his shift?" She set her drink down on the counter before her and crossed her arms, hoping that he was alright. After all, she, like everyone else, heard the rumors of him and the fight with Frankie and his posse.

Her coworker Barbie was no where to be seen but that wasn't surprising. Rumors were getting around that he had a tussle with the local ******** ups. But that wasn't any of her business. Her concern was that she wouldn't have any eye candy for the day. But that couldn't distract her from her work. Del grabbed a plate with two grilled cheeses on it and made her way over to the table where Nate and his female friend were sitting. The joint had lost a decent amount of coinage based on the free grilled cheeses that Del always tried to sneak Nate. She placed the plate on the table and sat down. "You're gonna make me lose my job one of these days" Del smiled and glanced at the other female at the table. "I didn't know what you'd like so I got two grilled cheeses just in in case.Hi, I'm Del. You must be this Faye that I hear about almost every 3 seconds."
Nate shrugged at Faye's question, not knowing an honest answer. He thought Barbie was going to be here too. "Well, you heard what happened... Maybe he's taking an R&R kind of day?" Barbie skipping town was the last thing that Nate would ever imagine. He and Barbie were thicker than thieves, he'd want to believe that the guy would tell him if he was skipping town. When his friend arrived, Nate wiggled his fingers happily and grabbed a grilled cheese, biting into it savagely. He let out a gruff 'mhm' when Del suggested that she would lose her job over him. That wasn't going to happen, Chester's Mill wasn't that big of a place and the owner of the restaurant wasn't that kind of lady. Nate shot Del a look when she implied that he talks about Faye all the time. He did but the girl didn't need to know that! That stayed between him, Del, Barbie, and his sister Adelaide. Adelaide had left Chester's mill a while back but called every day to check up on her little brother. There was no one in the world that Nate loved more than his sister. " Faye was just asking where Barbs is". Nate expected Del to know where Barbie was since they worked together but it was no use since Del herself just shrugged.

Timid fingers reached to the nape of her pale neck, massaging the area as she pondered. Where could Barbie be? Eyes adverted from Nate's; she was too consumed with thoughts to think about how her sudden tense reaction could affect those surrounding her. It wasn't until another presence broke her train of thought and made her give out a small, almost inaudible suddered sigh. If there was one thing Barbie loved, it was his job; to be surrounded by friends was something he was fond of. And now he wasn't here, and Faye almost debated if he was just genuinely sick. But he would've sent me a text.. Faye just blinked once, twice, three times before drawing her full and undivided, yet scattered, attention towards the new face. Faye gave the other a gentle smile, peach lips parted to reveal pearl, glistening teeth. But that facial expression dropped as soon as she seen Barbie walk in.
Bruised and battered was he, blood coating a hand and oozing out of a gash on his right temple. This didn't just grab the attention of one female friend, but everyone in the diner. "Barbie?" Faye asked, eyes wide with worry as she pulled herself out of the booth and ran to her friend's side. "What happened to you?" she asked, despite his protests as he tried to pull her hands away from his cheeks. She was inspecting his woulds, also allowing her touch radiate some form of comfort. The diner grew still for a second and Barbie's eyes flickered to the one person he knew could help him right now: Nate.
"We got a problem."
Faye turned around to see just who Barbie was talking to and shared a glance with Nate. "What the hell is that about?" she asked, feeling Barbie disappear from her touch and run back outside. His words were a form of a silent will for Nate to follow as he jogged at a brisk like pace to the nearest wall the dome was placed. Where a bloody hand print, his own, hung in the air. Blood was running trails downwards, like as if there was an invisible wall standing there. Sad thing was? There is a wall standing there.

They were both too stunned to even react the way Faye did. " Oh, Barbie" breathed Del, covering her mouth. Barbie looked like he just got back from war but it wasn't like they were the best of friends for her to be as concerned as Faye. Don't get me wrong, Delilah was concerned, she just didn't know how to show it. Plus, in her mind, she didn't think much had happened to him other than maybe getting into a tousle with the Chester Mills' resident thugs.
Nate's eyes went wide as Barbie announced that there was a problem. To Nate, there wasn't much that Barbie couldn't handle on his own but this peaked his interest. Nate got up from the booth and looked at Delilah, knowing full well that she'd want to know what's going on. " Please stay here. I'll come get you." Nate wanted to see what was up first before either of the girls got involved. On his way to the door, he stopped and gave Faye a reassuring glance." Don't worry about it, it's probably nothing. I'll go see what this is all about. Sit with Del, get to know her, yeah?" Nate gave a quick smile before rushing out the diner after Barbie. " wait up!" he yelled, jogging up to pace with Barbie. It didn't take them too long to reach the wall and Nate immediately knew what the problem was. " What the hell is that?" he asked, looking the Barbie. The hand bring suspending in mid air was something straight out of a science fiction novel. Nate stepped closer to the hand print with his own hand outstretched until he made contact with the barrier. It was almost unreal, the feeling he got from it. It wasn't like electricity but it sure made the hairs on his neck stand up. Nate retracted his hand and took a step back, looking at the surrounding area and noticing a poor woodchuck cut in half. Nate's hands tangled in his hair as he looked at Barbie. " Okay, this is a problem"

"C'mon, let's see what they are up to!" And just like that, the padding of her boots against the diner's wooden floors was evident as she ran for where the two men headed off to. She circled around the corner of the diner that she was so sure she seen Nate run through before slowing to a pause at a sight of a red barn completely ripped in half. Surprised, and scared, Faye stepped back once and let out a small shriek at the sight.
This caught Barbie's attention. He turned to where Faye stood and then jerked himself around to where her attention was narrowed on. And then he saw the barn. Completely ripped right in half and looked as if some loose wood was held in place by the same barrier that was levitating his bloody hand print. Slowly, with hands on his hips, he turned to Nate and heaved out a tired sigh.
Faye halted her scream with hands clamped over her mouth. How such a reaction busted out of her, she didn't know. But when seeing such a heavy sight in a small town where things rarely happen, it took her aback. Her hands slowly dropped to her chest, where her heart was thudding at a rapid pace under her touch. Sore eyes looked blindly to the bright sky to see if she could pinpoint where this invisible wall ended, yet she couldn't locate it. Instead, she started to heave out quick, sudden breaths and slowly took another step back.
"Del, look after her," barked Barbie, his military side revealing it's true colors. "Nate, you're comin' with me. We gotta block off the other roads and stop people from coming into town. If they do, then they are going to experience a frightful crash. C'mon." Barbie jogged past Del and patted her shoulder accordingly before reaching his car.

She usually tried not to get into Barbie's business but she could allow herself to be nosy if Nate was involved. Delilah followed at Faye's heels. The girl had to cover her own mouth to prevent herself from shrieking as Faye had done.
The sky seemed perfectly normal to her with the exception of the barn ripped straight down the middle. Del would've attempted to comfort Faye at this point but she had only met the girl a few moments prior to this and she didn't know the other girl too well. Maybe she didn't really need the comfort. But soon as she asked - no, commanded - to take care of the girl and all Delilah could do was nod. " Alright. Be safe, both of you." She moved closer to Faye and put a hand on the girl's shoulder. " Do you want to go home or something? I -I can take my break and take you someplace, if you'd like."
Nate followed behind Barbie and gave both Del and Faye reassuring looks. He had never seen Faye act like that before and his first instinct was to stay with her and let Del go with Barbie but he was selfish, he wanted to be just as much part of the action as Barbie. When Nate reached the car, he hopped into the passenger's seat.
When Barbie was in, Nate glanced over to him and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "How do you deal with something that you don't entirely understand?" So far, to Nate, they were thrown into the middle of a science fiction novel that involved and invisible barrier being put around their small town. A town so small that it was overlooked on most maps. " We've got an invisible barrier around us and we don't know how high it goes nor how wide it is." Nate leaned back in the seat, letting this all digest. " Man,what're we going to do about this?"
