Christmas was in the air. You could just feel it. The shops and streets were filled with people buying the last of their gifts for their loved ones. The hustle and bustle make the city seem more alive. Of course that meant if you were a small, fuzzy kitten that you could be easily stepped on! But this was what little Ma-Ku enjoyed. It was fun and dangerous and also worried her parents to no end, which made it all the more fun! The little calico had taken after her father which meant she enjoyed danger and being rebellious, which constantly worried her poor mother who was never in the prime of her health.
Today Ma-Ku had run off again and had run to the back of the butchers shop, which was thronged with humans getting their last minute Christmas food shopping. She was eyeing up a very tasty looking pork chop which had fallen to the ground due to some careless shop keep, when she noticed another cat out of the corner of her eye.

Damien sauntered along the awnings hanging over a busy shopping district. He'd go home eventually... his boy would be waiting, as always. He was a good boy, for a human, always watching out to make sure he didn't step on a kitty tail. Damien couldn't say as much for the boy's father, though. Lord, was that man messed up. He would drink this foul smelling liquid that turned him into a yelling, kicking monster. Worse than a human child having a tantrum. Well, it didn't matter... he would slink into the boy's room once the man had passed out from his noxious drink.
Spotting a good perch, Damien scooched his fluffy black self onto the ledge of a roof, watching the humans below. He was particularly intrigued by the butcher shop. Perhaps there would be something yummy out back. Standing, he clambered over the roof and dropped down to the other side. A smell of pork assailed his nose until he spotted the abandoned chop on the ground. Meh... too easy. Food was no fun if there wasn't a bit of adventure involved. He turned his head away from the meat in an almost pointed fashion, and finally spotted the pretty little lady standing off to the side. "Well then... g'evening," he crooned in her direction, "Lovely day to relieve some humans of their extra meat, wouldn't ya say?"
