In the year 2140 mysterious anomalies everyone called Rifts began to appear in the sky. They shone from within with a fiery, grim light that turned the night sky a hideous red. From within these tears came creatures, monsters of terrible strength and monstrous size. These monsters attacked the cities and towns, destroying them and slaughtering the people. Despite their efforts the Human race failed to win against the things and soon sat on the brink of extinction as the air and land became poisoned from the gasses and creatures the Rifts expelled.

The Human race fled to underground cities that they had built as their backup plan. These cities are protected only by the tainted rock surrounding them, kept powered only by struggling generators. The poisonous air is filtered by purifying machines that keep the air clean and everyone within the city alive.
Linked only by the bullet trains running through tunnels and water the remains of the Human race started over. They farmed, raised animals, and struggled to survive in these early days underground. The Human race survived and plotted how to take back the world they once had under the sun.

Now
The year is 2580 and below ground the Human race is thriving, or so everyone believes. Laws are strict and everyone is required to have a job from the day they turn 13. However the people don’t mind the strict laws. None are even left that have seen one of the monsters that now live above. The only sign that they’re even still there is the occasional earthquake.

The people of the city Solis are happy and content, going on with their everyday lives completely ignorant of the monsters walking the ground above them. As far as they know things are going well and they seem to be thriving. However cracks are showing in the façade. The people are realizing that the resources are getting low as rationing on some items starts. Earthquakes are becoming more frequent and some of the generators are failing. To top it all off rumors are leaking in that a city across the ocean has fallen. Only rumors of course…until a train of refugees arrives at the station and with them the truth of the fall of Lyrin.
Fear grips the people as the earthquakes grow more frequent with each passing day. Will they be next? The government has begun to draft people into a makeshift military force in preparation for an attack while the scientists are planning an expedition to the surface to investigate. Will Solis be the next city to fall to the monsters despite their planning?
The fate of the city lies with a single group of people that have no memories of their childhood. These strangers who where as kids part of an experiment that was focused on taking back the surface, were unknowingly genetically altered using bits of DNA from the monsters themselves. Memories of the experiment erased these people were allowed back into normal society, living like nothing had happened to them at all. The side effects from the experiments on them are unknown, as are the boons, the powers, the foreign DNA granted them. Now these strangers must come together as the only hope for Solis.
