Should I go get Cradily warmed up?

(Except he's actually on one of my gen 4 games, which I don't have on hand tonight)

Mayhaps.
I would counter with Stallmie, though.

Also, now that I think about it, I really should make a Six starmie team again. It's really got a diverse movepool and can full multiple roles.
Get a pain split+Psyshock one to deal with Blissey. 'Cause I think that *should* work.
Toxic/Reflect type/Recover/Magic coat to deal with pokes that like taunting. Or just generally being impossible to sweep while not being poison types. Tauntproof, status reflecting, annoying to kill, and beautious.
Psywave/Cosmic power/Recover/Magic Coat would destroy Chaps. Again.
Maybe throw in a Sub/Swagger/Psyche up/Waterfall user. Even though I highly doubt that'd work.
.....
It'd be nice if there was a shock orb that paralyzed the holder. 'Cause a gyro ball/waterfall/facade/substitute Starmie could be interesting with analytic.
Illuminate starmie with a choice scarf bringing the Trick+Skill Swap. Could combine with the Blissey killer.
Then a standard Psyshock/Ice beam/Brine/Scald user to kill anything that isn't a wall or a sucker punch user. With brine just in case one really needs to wreck a pokemon and they're sitting at 50%.

Aside from venues that employ the no-duplicates rules, that seems like a very unpredictable team. Just make sure you can take down common counters, naturally.

I don't see how that Toxic-user could deal with Taunt, though. Oh right, Magic Coat. Needs predicting, but it could work. However it would probably have to run from Ferrothorn. In fact, how would any of these Starmie deal with the thorn? Best make sure you pack HP-Fire on one.

I think the Psywave one would wreck a Ferrothorn pretty easily.
......

Or maybe not, 'cause it doesn't have reflect type which means that it'd be taking some pretty substantial damage 'fore it got up a few cosmic powers.
HP fire's definitely an option.
Scarf trick wouldn't be much more than a diversion all things considered. It'd just start power whipping.
Scald's too unreliable. And would take too long. But it might help the cosmic power one set up enough to do something good if a burn happened.

.....
HP fire only does around half its health, which wouldn't quite be enough. You'd need to reflect type to stay in long enough to be a threat, and then I'd bet they'd switch out to something that can take that hit like it's nothing.
...
But steel/grass is a good defensive typing, and if they switched in a fire type to try and deal with it.... Well, Heatran would do that quite well, actually.

Huh.
Interesting thought.
Maybe have a Facade using starmie with a burn orb and trick.
Bold. HP/defense. Rapid Spin/Trick/Recover/Magic coat. Burn orb.
You see a Ferrothorn, you send this bad boy out first. It uses trick, probably gets a leftovers, and the Ferrothrorn gets a burn orb. Starmie takes about 70% damage. Unless the thorn's offensively invested.
Still not enough to really be a threat if it is, though. Unless it's adamant. Which would be funny. And even then only a good 6% chance.
Second turn, recover. If it seeds you, rapid spin brotha. If it stealth rocks you, rapid spin brotha. If it switches out, you win.... Kind of.
In fact, since nothing Ferrothorn would do could reasonably pose a threat to this Starmie, no magic coat. Thunder wave. They might find your Ferrothorn staller to be a pain in the a** and try and switch out into a setup sweeper. Paralyze any arse who looks like they're about to start dragon dancing.

The beauty of Pokémon is that there's a way to counter almost anything, but no way to counter everything.

You want to paralyze my setup sweeper? Say 'hello' to my Mega Absol!~
Immune to Trick and Thunder Wave, but one Swords Dance would make it a beast.

Now you're making me almost want to train a team again.

Yeah, but nobody uses Mega Absol.
And the Starmie team already has an Absol counter. Was thinking, "Hey, Greninja's going to be an a*****e. I'd better do something about that."
And made a focus sash/analytic one with Hydro Pump. Because of the assumption that any Greninja would probably have protein and wouldn't use a water type attack against a Starmie.
Swords dance all you like, there's no respite. Mwahahaha!
And if the Greninja has a focus sash too, there's also a choice scarf one.

Magnezone would find itself near helpless against a reflect type mie. Unless it had HP fire which'd suck.
In fact, Magnezone's probably the biggest problem. And only if it has HP fire.

I am going to name these Starmie after stars.

Sol.
Tau Ceti.
Vega.
Betelgeuse.
Antares.
Arcturus.
