About the Boy

User ImageName: Desmond H. Farrow
Nickname: Des, Dezzie
Age: 25
Eyes: a dark, earthy green
Hair: a rich, chocolate brunette
Skin: sun-browned
Height: 6' 3"

Likes: travel, museums, all kinds of food, dogs, gardening, Eastern culture, hiking, getting intoxicated by whatever local means, and especially loves cooking.
Dislikes: idleness, ultimatums, lies (even harmless fibs), backbreaking labor (he prefers cooking to make his money), cold days, bugs, sleeping in on accident

Personality: Desmond is always trying to balance his need to work with his desire to live a fullfilled and happy life. It is his utmost belief that, even if one has the money and resources to do so, one must still be a working and contributing member of society. For someone who so strictly and strongly holds this belief, Desmond sure likes to take it easy. Even when working his hardest he keeps a jovial, laid-back approach to his trade; his customers never seem to mind the extra wait, either, smiling and chatting with the young man all the while as he prepares their meals. Desmond's sushi restaurant is rather small and expensive, but the intimate and valuable conversation the tiny hub provides is just the thing to keep the young Knight away from his old habits.
Formal with strangers, bawdy with boys, with a travel-seasoned wit that charms girls around the world.

Personal History: When Desmond was born his mother, for whatever reason, chose to give him up. Instead he would be adopted and taken in by not one but two mothers, a pair of lovers in their mid-thirties who wanted a child to call their own. Their names were Palla and Moirin. While their neighbors leered at them sideways and feared for the boy's future manhood, the years to come would prove any and all petty assumptions false. Fond of climbing and using sticks for swords, Desmond grew into quite the little troublemaker indeed- to the point where the neighbors probably wished he'd favored tea time and dolls instead. He carried this mischievous nature with him into his teenage years, attracting all kinds of unwanted attention from all manner of girls that made Palla and Moirin sigh and shake their heads. Fortunately for them, their vivacious son found most girls to be dull and unintelligent. They prattled on about clothes and television, while Desmond rolled his eyes and studied ancient warfare, philosophy, astronomy and all manner of grand and imaginative pursuits. The diversity and wonder of the world fascinated him, and learning was an adventure.
Perhaps if he had been presented with more challenging subjects in school, he'd have never grown so tired of it.
Unfortunately it seems the gifted among us are often prone to the curse of boredom, a curse which Desmond soon and almost inevitably fell under. His peers were lacking, conversation was bleak, his country and culture deeply flawed. His only solace were his family's annual vacations, where his mind was dazzled by foreign cultures and exotic foods. Even still, it didn't take long for Desmond to start dabbling in drugs to stimulate and distract him. Drinking and smoking evolved into much more, and from his late teens to his early twenties Desmond struggled with a severe opiate addiction. Only after meeting Helios and discovering his Knighthood was he even able to think about beginning to turn his life around. Soon after, with gentle encouragement from his mothers, Desmond rediscovered and began to nurture his love for cooking. Feeling it would be good for his depression and overall health, his mothers offered to send him anywhere in the world to broaden his knowledge and hone his culinary skills- remembering his meeting with Helios and his future duties, Desmond felt naturally drawn to Crystal Tokyo.
Desmond would spend the next few years falling deeply in love with Japan and its culture, returning several times on a work visa until finally deciding to settle there permanently. His culinary skills soon piqued the interest of a world-renowned master sushi chef, whose training Desmond would accept with humility and gratitude. He proved to be quite the astute pupil, despite all his mischief and games. Many customers could not believe the beauty and intricate perfection of the silly gaijin's rolls, and Desmond thus became quite the phenomenon among locals. After his master's recent passing, the young Knight was granted ownership of the small restaurant where he still works and resides today. While Desmond still likes to dabble in the occasional high, a cold beer and a smoke on the beach are more than enough for him these days.

About the Knight

User Image

Title: Knight of Copper, aka the Lightning Lieutenant
Influence: Quetzalcoatl, spirit of lightning, protector of earth and sky
Metal: copper
Symbol: User Image
Colors: copper, shades of orange, brown
Armour: Light armor of leather, fur, and cloth.

Team: Helios and his Metallic Knights

Weapons: A curiously indestructible Bo staff, plus two hidden daggers in each boot.
Items: A feather from Helios that he wears among the beads and charms in his dreadlocks. Whatever magical properties it may hold are yet unknown to him, but it certainly helps him through his darker moods.

Abilities:  Can summon lightning and direct devastating electrical currents toward his enemies. Attacks directed from his staff (as opposed to his palms) are much more powerful. Other powers are yet undiscovered.

Knight History: Aside from his intimate intervention and meeting with Helios, Des hasn't had much contact with his fellow knights. Has had frequent dealings with youma and wraiths (probably Helios' feather attracting them), allowing him plenty of opportunities to train and hone his skills. He is confident in his Knighthood, as Helios presented himself to the boy years ago.
