I'm pretty sure Ninja Gaiden happend before DOA.

She is not 16 dude... Read her Character info s**t in Ninja Gaiden and it says shes 14. In Dead or Alive games it always says age is N/A

In NG she is 14 however in the DoA games she is 16.

Ayane is my 2nd favorite! (Well, next to Kasumi. Don't hurt me! >_<)
Her past was really sad, almost everyone in the village saying she
was a poisoned child. I DON'T BELIEVE YOU! scream scream sweatdrop

She's a really cool character, with sweet attacks! blaugh
