Alright dudes, listen up. We've got like one and a half active colorists right now, so we need some serious help if we're gonna get up and running again.

We're something of a lighthearted shop, but we take our art quality seriously. Experience coloring at other B/Cs isn't necessary, but we wanna see that you know how to make a critter look like it's got actual markings and stuff, and preferably, that you can at least pretend you know how to mimic our shading templates (I know they're kinda obtuse, I'd apologize but that would ruin my public image).

We've never been a terribly active shop, even in our heyday, so we don't need you to do too much for us in terms of monthly output. Basically, this is supposed to be a FUN PLACE to color, so really, just color what you want when you want. You'll be called on to work on event prizes, of course, but I'll do my best to make sure that doesn't happen at inconvenient times for you.

And then there's the question of payment, I guess, right? You get to keep everything you make here, we don't have any non-colorist staff to pay, so taking a cut of your pay doesn't make much sense. You can color as many pets for yourself and your friends as you want, within reason. You need to talk to Kitty Sprightt when you want to do this, so big sister can keep an eye on you, right? I'll probably say yes unless you start gettin really skippy with it, so don't worry too much.

Alright, alright, that is a PRETTY CONVINCING argument I make, isn't it? Here's the stuff you need to actually apply:


Click the two images above to receive the APPLICATION TEMPLATES, which are in .psd (ie photoshop) format. Color two of each of these things and then fill out this form, and you're golden! Don't use these templates for anything but showing off your mad d**k coloring skills I AM SERIOUS.

Oh, yeah, and if you want to do edits you should probably do at least two of those.

After you've colored these things, we'll let you know if you're good enough to join the DICKENS TEAM, but feel free to keep updating your application if you haven't been selected yet.

ps I will FROWN DISAPPROVINGLY at you if you post your form before you finish your samples so do that first

Any chance you going to come down with a bad case of HOLIDAYS? be honest now: There is a teeny chance, but I'm excited for the holiday event, so I will not!
But I won't be available Christmas day and Christmas eve for sure. There may be a time where I have to run down to LA for visa stuff for a day or two as well, but I think that will be after Christmas at the earliest.
If we decide not to hire you, do you want to be informed of the reasons? (ie get some criticism): Sure

I'd definitely feel comfortable doing color and basic edits. But it would be super helpful to talk to someone about the shading technique before doing anything big.
