Basically how it went down throughout history: people didn't like the fact that these guys were smarter than all the other ******** who lived during the age of enlightenment. To escape the ridicule that dumb ******** brought, the enlightened ones made their group-- The Illuminati-- which literally translates to "the enlightened ones". The dumb ******** got so butthurt over the "shroud of secrecy" that they began calling them Satan-worshippers, tyrants, this that and the other. Thus conspiracies were born.
