Just in time for the holidays, I will be hosting the first ever G-Fed Golden Mic Tournament. I listed a detailed explanation of how it will work in this thread, and will use that to update once I have the rules finalized.

As mentioned in said thread, the winner of the tournament will be considered the best writer in the G-fed...at least, as far as this tournament is concerned. I will also pony up 2 million gold to the winner as well.

I will open up a roll call for this, and would like to get this started after Thanksgiving. So the deadline will be November 30th. I need at least 8 people to participate (and by people, I don't mean 8 characters); if this isn't achieved by the 30th, I will delay another week.

Sorry, I've been a bit busy lately. I know I said I'd get this ball rollin' today and I was unable to. So, there will be a slight change in the plans:

I will post the first round topic on Saturday the 13th. You will have until the 19th to complete your promos.

As of today, roll call is closed. We have six participants this year:

There are two judges this year that will be scoring each promo; myself, and Cartwright. I am open to having a third judge, so if you'd like to be a judge, shoot me a PM. You'll have until I post on the 13th to do so.

As mentioned, the winner will get bragging rights for a year, 1,000,000 in gold, and...well, that's all you get. Everyone, however, will get the opportunity to have your writing looked over and be able to get some new ideas or perspective on how to write.

Now, for the layout of each week:
-Every Saturday, I will post a topic in a new thread. If you have questions about what the topic is, ask either myself or Cartwright.
-You'll have until the next Friday of each week to complete your promos. The sooner the better, as we can move on to further rounds quicker.
-The judges will read over and score each promo based on set criteria:
Grammar
Length
Consistency (aka on point)
Structure (framework for the promo)
Flow (how the promo moves from point to point)
Fan Reaction (subset of Consistency, based on how fans are supposed to treat you)
Grammar (yes, this will be important)
I will be changing the scoring slightly; instead of 1 to 5, each category will be scored on a scale of 1 to 10 (lowest to highest, respectively). With 7 categories to be scored in, scores will range from 7-70. The lowest score at the end of each week will be eliminated.

FAQs:

Q: Is elimination based on overall score or individual score?
A: Eliminations are based on the individual score of a promo. Should there be a tie in elimination, the overall score will decide who is eliminated. We'll cross the bridge if that too becomes a tie.

Q: What if I miss my submission deadline?
A: You can always ask for an extension. Extensions will always be the next Saturday ending at 5 PM CST (3 PM Gaia time). If you do not meet the deadline NOR ask for an extension, your entry will receive a null score and you will be eliminated. If more than one person misses the deadline, I will be extending it. I know that this tournament overlaps Christmas and New Years, so I'm anticipating delays.

Q: As a competitor, what should I do if I need to drop from the tournament?
A: Shoot me a PM. Life happens; I'd just like to know what's up.

Q: How will we know our scores?
A: You will get a PM from both myself and Cartwright with your scores in each individual category, as well as your total score. Along with that, Cartwright and I may also include critiques and tips to help you out.

Q: How will eliminations work?
A: Each Saturday night (unless we need to delay), I will post the total score for each person's promo. The lowest score will be eliminated, and will get a chance to cut a short promo with their exit from the tournament. Then the week begins anew with a new topic.

Q: What about the finals?
A: That's a surprise.
