Okay, I'm working on archiving this week's session and I've come across a doozy.
What Subject do you think this question should be filed under in the Sorted By Subject forum?

Zero Omega
Ms Jizzerton
Items/Misc?

It seems the recolored items aren't showing up on tektek. This is a bit of trouble for an artist trying to draw commissions for people and not having the best reference. It's also difficult to see what true potential my avi has since half of my items are missing when I inventory tektek.

Will tektek be updated soon with all it's missing items?

Nothing we can do about this, TekTek is run by another person and not affiliated with Gaia Online. You'll have to bug them to update the site.

Since tektek is not a Gaia feature, it doesn't really belong in the Avatar System thread, the Items General thread, or the Future Site Features thread, and if I made a subject category for Tektek it would pretty much just be filled with people failing to understand Gaia doesn't own or maintain it.

If more people asked questions concerning avatar simulators in general, I might be able to justify putting those questions, including ones about tektek, in...uh...I guess Avatar System, but I don't see that being likely.

Anyone have an opinion?

...I might re-use this thread in the future if I get stumped again...

Why not give yourself an easy out and create some version of a OTHER or MISC thread?

No matter what 'Subject' you create there will likely always be some other weird question that does not fit into it so why not just create a catch all thread for the weird stuff?

The flip side of this is the type of stuff that is likely to end up in here is not likely to be of interest to very many people anyway.

If you simply must give it a specific category then maybe OFFSITE??
But I think it is a better service to your readers to not clutter the by subject forum with too many extraneous / seldom used sub-threads. It just makes it harder to scan through the subjects to find the ones that actually matter.

And.. if you DO find Tek-Tek or some other weird topic keeps coming up in ATS nothing says you can't make a thread about that later and copy / pasta the posts. Kind of seems unlikely though.

PS - Not a "sort by subject" comment but I'd sort of like to see some sort of General Discussion thread in the main forum. It probably would not see tons of use but it could still be a drop place for general comments.

For example, I agree with your comment in your announcement to the effect that a lot of the answers were "We could consider that" type of stuff.
It seems like the three biggest answers were some version of -
We can consider it
Not at this time
Yes we can consider recoloring that item.

I've gone ahead and created the et cetera thread. About to start archiving tonight's session...I wonder if I'll find anything else that goes in there...

My opinion on the idea of a General Discussion thread is that, as far as I'm concerned, the whole Main Forum is for General Discussion, so it seems senseless to make a thread whose purpose is to house the same kinds of posts you could just make a topic for. Are people skittish about starting new topics? Is it easier to post if there's already a thread your post can fit in? ...actually I think I may have just talked myself into doing it. I'll probably make one when I'm done with tonight's session.

Well, it's not a problem currently because there is not a lot of activity in this guild but in an active guild the main forum can get pretty cluttered with small dead threads.

People tend to discuss the "now" and often only for several back and forth comments. Most guilds I have used have at least one general discussion thread so folks can wander in and comment on this or that (like Mondays ATS) and then a page or two later the conversation has drifted to something else.

It doesn't prevent someone from making an individual thread about a special topic but it cuts down on clutter and maintenance.
But that's just my take on it.
