Taking care of such a big family, particularly one who lived in the same den, was difficult. Kaveh didn't necessarily "live" in their den, (he had his own in the Ghadhabu section of the pride) however he was a frequent visitor and stayed overnight commonly. Euanthe and Vellamo had remained together, as mother and daughter respectively in the same den for quite a while now.
Add in Vellamo and her both having children around the same time? Yeah, that cramped space suddenly turned into cage. During the day staying around the den was an idea to invite insanity, and during the night it was pretty much just a giant group pile of which they huddled together to keep warm from.
So this morning when Vellamo had finally felt the boredom of routine shrieking in her ears the hyena had decided she'd had enough of sitting around.
"Let's go hunting." She had told them, and so here they were, the entire company walking through the forest in an unorganized line.
Deimos was barely able to contain his excitement! Finally, mom was entrusting him with the special duty of accompanying her on a hunting exhibition! Well, him and everyone else, but still! He had been included on the roaster and that alone had him jump around proudly.
"I'm going to catch a bird." He told the relative nearest to him. "It'll be a really big bird, and then we'll all be able to eat a lot!"
It would be important to note that although Deimos tried, really, really hard, he often failed to meet his mother's expectations on what she had planned for her sons. He'd fail to catch a fish, or wake up uncle Kaveh when he was trying to sneak around him, or even steal the wrong item from a pile of trinkets Vellamo had told him to.
Still, this didn't manage to discourage him. He was as restless and happy as he usually was, and ready to change his pattern of failure!
"What are you going to catch?" He asked the person next to him, pridefully implying that whatever he was going to catch was way better than what they would find.
Faolan sighed and rolled his eyes, staying a good few feet away from the rest of his family. He really didn't want to be here, hunting was not his strength. Besides he was still full from last night's dinner and saw no reason in going on a big family event for food. Only a few of them really needed to hunt, the rest were just tagging along it seemed. Himself included.
Where Deimos was thrilled to bits to be participating in whatever Vellamo planned for them, Faolan was considerably less so.
"Are we there yet?" He asked in a frustrated tone. He hoped it would be one of the adults answering, not his siblings or nephews.
