The Multiverse is a new game that I came up with to help spend spare time here in the guild. While it draws its roots from my original "Nerd Card Game," this one should be a lot easier to implement and not as complicated to get going.

Rather than dealing with strict cards this time, The Multiverse will simply deal with sections of another forum here in this subforum. Each player creates their own forum in which to keep track of their scores, heroes, etc. This way you don't forget your score if someone is posting a lot more than you are. You get to draw "cards" daily from the pre-rendered list (which is liable to expand, depending on what universes people want to include in the game, these cards will consist of four types:

>Hero Cards - Hero cards offer bonuses and weaknesses that will affect your core stats, but can also offer special abilities that can give you advantage against other players or hostile cards. You lose these stats and abilities if the hero is killed by a hostile card.

>Artifact Cards - Artifact cards also affect your core stats, altering them depending on the abilities of the card. However, they can also be traps which immediately spring on the player, causing damage to their stats or their heroes and artifacts in play.

>Resource Cards - Resource cards act as a currency in-game. THey can be used to purchase additional points in your stats, but they can also be spent for additional cards draws if enough are present. More advanced resources might also grant you special bonuses.

>Hostile Cards - Hostile cards deal damage to your stats and can also destroy artifacts or kill your heroes, but can be slain with enough military points.

These cards will affect your primary stats in-game. These stats are the main force behind the game, they allow you to alter your collection's size, gain more stat points, and also more card draws per day. The five stat categories are:

>Military - The Military stat allows you to kill hostile cards when they arise. If you sacrifice the correct amount of points, as stated on a hostile card, the hostile is vanquished and no further negative effects occur.

>Science - The Science stat controls the amount of artifacts you can control. You can control an additional artifact for every 10 points you have in this stat, and you always can have at least 1 artifact, even when your score goes below 10. You can also spend 10 points of your Science stat to increase your Manufacturing stat by 5.

>Philosophy - The philosophy stat allows you to support additional heroes. You can control an additional hero for every 10 points you have in this stat, and you always can support at least 1 hero, even when your score goes below 10. You can also spend 10 points of your Philosophy stat to increase your Mining stat by 5.

>Manufacturing - The manufacturing stat affects the amount of cards you can draw per day. You can always draw at least 1 card, but for every 10 points over 10 you have you can draw an additional 1 card a day.

>Mining - The Mining stat generates resources for you to spend. For every 10 points you have in this skill, you gain an additional 1 resource a day (with a minimum of 1). These resources can be added to any skill to permanently increase their scores, or be spent to draw an additional card.

Example/Starting Player Stat Scoring Format:

Military: 10
Science: 10
Philosophy: 10
Manufacturing: 10
Mining: 10

Heroes: (0/1)
-

Artifacts: (0/1)
-

Possible Card Examples: (format subject to change, but basics will still be the same)

Hero Card:
Masterchief (Halo) Military Hero
+20 Military
-5 Mining
Can sacrifice himself to destroy any artifact.

Artifact Card: (trap)
Halo Ring (Halo) Artifact - Trap
-100 Military
-100 Science
-100 Philosophy
-100 Manufacturing
-100 Mining
-Kills all current heroes in play.

Artifact Card:
Lightsaber (Star Wars) Artifact - Melee Weapon
+10 Military
+5 Philosophy

Resource Card:
Minerals (Starcraft) Resource - Simple
+2 Resources

Hostile Card:
Vikings (History) Land Hostile
-5 Philosophy
-10 Mining
Military needed to defeat: 3

In order to draw cards, there will be a separate forum set aside for this purpose. It will have a list of all the cards currently available for use. Simply look at the list, it should display the current highest number to easier use. You simply use the Gaia Action "Random Number Generator" with the correct number range, it will select a random number which will be tied to a specific card for you to draw. If the Gaia action will not work for whatever reason, or you don't want to use the sites feature just use another random number generator available (such as www.random.org).

If people have questions, comments, or suggestions, please leave a comment here in this forum or contact me via private message. I'll explain the best I can, or we'll whittle your ideas or suggestions into game mechanics or cards.

So have fun!

How To Play

How you play the game is fairly simple (but you know, I made it up so of course it makes sense to me. If this doesn't make sense, feel free to ask). Each day counts as a turn or a round, allowing you to take your actions that your cards and points allow. How the stats work is displayed up above, but on a day to day basis the Manufacturing stat is the most important as it affects how many new cards are drawn to affect your stats and current cards.

Each turn's actions should look something like this:

1. Place any Resource stats generated by your Mining stat score.
2. Activate any passive turn Power Up cards you wish to activate this turn.
3. Draw the number of cards from the deck (using a random number generator on the total amount of cards found in the Deck forum) determined by your Manufacturing score.
4. Fight any Hostile cards or Ambush/Trap cards that come into play.
5. Use any special abilities or combat Power Ups to help destroy enemy cards. If enemy cards are not destroyed at the end of this round, they use their own special abilities on you.
6. Use your Military score to remove Hostile cards, for remaining undestroyed enemy cards will use the negative stat affects on you.
7. Activate newly drawn friendly cards, gaining their stat bonuses and special abilities. (When an allied card is destroyed, you lose the bonus they had granted you.)
8. Use any other Power Ups and Special Abilities you can before your turn is over for the day.

Additional Rules regarding Heroes and Artifacts:

Heroes can equip certain artifacts (armors, weapons, vehicles, etc.). These artifacts do not grant you their effects until you equip them, but one hero can only equip one artifact in this way (unless the card tells you otherwise).

I set it up as a daily thing to keep people interested and to keep people on relatively even terms if they wanted to compare scores.

These are the basic rules right now. Again, if you see problems or have questions let me know. I shall do my best to fix them so it works better or explain it a little bit further. Thanks, and I hope it's fun to play!
