At Diego's first touch, the radio host had tensed up...muscles seemingly readying themselves for another attempt at running. His headphones gave another spark...and at that every urge to flee simply vanished. He relaxed fully into Diego's arms, shaking a bit but no longer willing to run away from the inevitable. No...Desert Bluffs had it's chance and had failed. Maybe other cities would fight harder, but this was his place now. StrexCorp, the Smiling God, and Diego of course. That was who he answered to. How could he possibly have thought otherwise? "I'm sorry..." He was mumbling, curling his 'repulsive' tail around his leg. He liked his tail! There was nothing wrong with it! One paw went towards it, trying to smooth it down as he calmed down. "The Smiling God will forgive me right? I'm not really sure what came over me...how could I think there was anything better than this?" The bright yellow that had been his eyes was fading back to the usual black abyss. His only worries now that their God would forgive him, and that StrexCorp would still have a place for a troublesome employee like him.

Diego frowned, seeing the sparks. He nuzzled at Kevin, preparing a syringe with his paws. "Our smiling god is always forgiving of those who seek repentance." He said with a hint of kindness, though contradicted by the almost hateful way he injected the contents of the syringe into Kevin, via that tail. "And he is especially forgiving of you, his chosen mouth piece." He pet Kevin, until he fell into a peaceful sleep, at which point Diego sighed, smiling at Lauren. "Lauren, if you hope to never have a repeat session of employee harassment policy seminars, I suggest you prepare to contact transport, we'll fly to the nearest Strexcorp infirmary." Which meant the next town on his list of purchased towns and properties.

Lauren shuddered slightly at that particular memory before pulling out her phone. "Fine. The sooner we leave, the better." She spoke briefly into the device before hanging up.
A few moments later, a whirring filled the air. The bright yellow helicopter emblazoned with Strex Corp's logo landed delicately in the intersection a few feet away. Night Vale really was behind the times, it's traffic lights posted at each corner instead of strewn across wires overhead. Lucky for them, it made landing a helicoptor in the middle of the city easy. Why it was almost like Night Vale was asking to be invaded!
Lauren smiled, glad she wouldn't have to walk much further in her ruined heels. She gimped her way over to the helicopter before climbing in next to the pilot. At least if she rode up front, she could avoid the view of Diego cradling that little nuisance of an employee the whole way back.

Diego couldn't have been more pleased when the helicopter touched down. He smiled, maybe relieved, maybe just that vapid, haunting smile all Strexcorp employees shared, either one, his pleasure was genuine .
At least until he went to lift Kevin. He grunted, after the under the neck and knees carry didn't work, and growled trying the firemans carry. He almost placed Kevin pleasently back on the ground, but decided against it, propping Kevin to his side, rousing him just enough to walk him to the copter.

After a just as pleasent chopper ride, the three arrived at the nearby Strexcorp building, and, once Kevin was situated to where Diego could work, that seemed just as good a time as ever for a company meeting with Lauren. "So Lauren, seeing as I was wrapped in other business ventures at the time, do you want to begin this meeting by telling me just what happened in Night Vale?" He connected a few of the loose wires in Kevins headphones, making sure what was playing was constant, persistent, and also pleasing . Perfect. After adding a few new wires, and one directly to the radio host, Diego turned his full attention to Lauren. "How is it that a for sure guaranteed, prime piece of realty, turned into such an unpleasent and costly loss?" Because that definetly wasn't happening again, the case of beedles and that new wiring he had aquired would ensure it.

" W-well," Lauren stammered, caught off guard by such a question, " there was a rebel faction...and the angels...and that....other...radio host!" What a nuisance he had been. She still liked listening to his show more than Kevin's though. It was the voice. Too bad Diego hadn't wanted that one instead.

The first thing he was aware of was a rather pleasant music playing right in his ears....he wasn't quite awake enough to identify it at first, but soon enough he realized it was the theme song of his radio show. Well, how delightful! It was just as Lauren was fumbling to explain her shortcomings in the town of Night Vale that the radio host returned from his uninvited (and yet still pleasant!) trip to dream world. He announced this with a loud yawn, sitting up on the table he had been placed on to sleepily rub at his eyes. ...Or lack there of. "What a strange dream...why would I ever run away from Desert Bluffs? That's such a silly thing to do!" He seemed to notice the other two in the room, and instantly he was all smiles. "Diego! Lauren! Hello!"

Diego glared, prepare to tell Lauren that please, he didn't want to hear excuses, this was far simpler than Anaheim had been, when he heard that beloved voice. Kevin had woken up. With a last, professional look at Lauren, Diego focused all of his attention onto Kevin. There would be time later to deal with Lauren.
"Kevin! I'm so glad to see you awake, very glad." He told him, resisting any sort unprofessional emotions. He checked the headphones yet again to insure they were indeed functioning. "And no, it's not silly to run from Desert Bluffs, your concerned bosses of Strexcorp on the other hand, now that is bad, be sure to remember that." Because unfortunately, they would be running from the direction of Desert Bluffs, but only until things had died down. Well, now that Kevin was awake, they would need to begin forming a plan. They could rebuild here honestly, but Diego never did like being too far up north. "Lauren, Kevin, soon we will need to have another informal business meeting. But for now, provisions are in order." He turned to Lauren at this,a pleasant and not at threatening smile on his face. "Lauren, would you do the honors of procuring food? I would ask Kevin, but i fear he needs to rest, for just a bit longer."

Lauren smiled as Diego turned his attention back to Kevin. That conversation hadn't gone as bad as she'd feared and it looked like she was off the hook for now. At least until Diego ordered her to go fetch. Was this some sort of punishment? Demoting her to the work of a drone? Well there was no way he would actually demote her. The company needed her too much!
Lauren kept the smile plastered to her face, a small twitch at the corner the only evidence his words had irked her. "Of course, Diego," she replied, a slight edge to her voice. Turning on her unbroken heel, she limped off through the doorway. She'd send a drone to fetch the food while she changed into a fresh set of clothes.
