History: Rowan was an orphan, rather his parents left him or they died, it was unknown to him. He was never told. He found out at an early age that because he wasn't very big or strong, that he had to be smart... That he had to be cunning. At first he was using said smarts to try to keep the older kids from taking his food, but when the bullying escalated, he would began stealing food from others. First he stole from other kids, but that quickly escalated, and he found himself getting into lots of trouble with his hold. They moved him to another hold, in hopes that the stealing would stop there, but Rowan could not help himself. He stole again, a few times actually, before he was caught again. Being that he was so young, being seven at this time, they would try moving him again, but only if the hold was willing. With time, the habit became who he was, and with a name like that he found himself alone. By the time he was ten, no one wanted to take him in, he was 'that one'. However, this didn't seem to bother Rowan, for every time he was arrested he'd have a grin on his face, it had become a game.
Even when there seemed to be no options left for Rowan, even when he was facing very serious consequences, Rowan held his mocking smirk. Judgement was about to deliver a devastating blow to Rowan and his future, when a mysterious traveler by the name of 'Hensen' came forward. He begged for Rowan's release, and willingly paid whatever was needed to accomplish that. Rowan left with Hensen, with a rather displeased look for someone who had just been saved, but when they arrived in this traveler's temporary abode, Hensen explained his actions to younger man. Hensen traveled the world, to show its people his inventions, and find inspirations for future endeavors. He suggested that what Rowan needed was not discipline, but instead he needed something to do with his mind.
Curiosity was what kept Rowan from leaving at first, but over the next few weeks Hensen became his mentor, and the two became close. For a time, Rowan was genuinely happy, his mind was distracted with all the things he was learning, and he was becoming known as ' the child inventor', instead of the thief. But this peace was not to last, for Hensen was still a traveler. One night, Rowan over heard Hensen talking about his leave, one where he would go, and how soon it would be... Rowan's fear got the best of him, the thought of someone leaving him was not something he could handle... He ran before Hensen could leave him, and with him he took his mentor's precious 'Idea Journal'. He not only fled his hold, but the entire continent, moving to wherever his feet took him.
Rowan didn't get very far before patrolling Dragon Riders spotted and surrounded him. He was so scared, he was sure he'd be in trouble, but instead heard very... Shocking news. They saw his inner gift, his potential to be a Weyr, and invited him to come with them to Benden. At first he was hesitant to go back with them, he'd never had an interest in dragons before and couldn't see how he could possibly be good at it, but seeing as they would be taking him far away... He'd get just what he had wanted when he'd left his hold. And so, they were off, and he prayed to whatever gods he could think of as they flew to the new land.
Once they'd gotten to Benden, he took a day to rest and think things over, he was 'giving it a chance'... Then another day passed, and another... Finally a week when he decided that he should be moving on, that this place wasn't for him... But to his surprise, as if the universe needed to stop him, he was called to his first touching... And was impressed with a dragon. A baby blue boy that finally melted the ice around his heart, and he allowed himself to the love the little one whole heatedly. And it was decided... He was a Weyr.
Rowan's name was changed to Ro'an, and he began training immediately. He didn't count the days anymore, knowing as long as they were together he belonged. The two left for a safer place to practice during the rebellion, and returned when there was a resolution. The one thing he's faithful to is his dragon, but luckily his dragon like's benden, and so they decided to stay. He devotes his time to ranking up, only because it's good practice, and that he's a work aholic.
