One good thing about music,

Sometimes Astrid really missed being a kid. Life was so much easier when she used to play outside all day and have adventures and tea parties with her imaginary friend. She would rarely come inside and life had been very carefree and different back then. Really her childhood had been so great because of her imaginary friend who at the time she had convinced herself was real. She knew that wasn't the case she just had a wild and rampant imagination. Oh what she wouldn't give to have that imagination back at least then she'd be able to think of something to draw for her senior art project. Currently she was sitting in the back of the school's library during her free period staring down at the blank sheet of paper in front of her. She was supposed to be drawing something that had to do with the theme of childhood and nothing creative really came to mind. She just had her pencil in her hand frowning down at her piece of paper. It didn't help that the girls sitting at the table next to her were giggling and whispering loudly about the incredibly cute new guy that had just transferred. Astrid sighed in their general direction. They really should be quiet and go gossip about cute guys somewhere else,some people were trying to work.

All day Finn was being bombarded by people he'd never met before. He somewhat understood the excitement of someone from a different place but he didn't understand why so many people were fascinated with him, it wasn't like he was an alien. In an attempt to find a few minutes of peace and quiet to gather his thoughts, Finn headed to the library. Even though his first name was Cameron, Finn always went by his last name, it was just what people called him and it felt more fitting to him. After walking into the library he heard his name yelled by a high pitched over the top bubbly female voice. Finn looked over to see a bleach blonde girl in a bright pink top and jean skirt. He put on a friendly smile and waved discretely, it was a library after all and not the place to be yelling hey back. This girl had introduced herself earlier in the day but he couldn't remember her name, just that she was one of the ones that was way too excited.

Astrid whose name had always been a little unique and used to be teased relentlessly by the other kids. It had taken her a long time (and help from her imaginary friend)to feel comfortable with her name. She heard one of the girls whisper her name and she turned to look at her but the other girl she away. Astrid had enough of the incessant chatter next to her. Of course today was the day that she had forgotten her headphones at home,or else she would have just turned up her music and tuned them out. But since she didn't have them with her and the girls didn't seem like they were going to be quiet anytime soon; she gathered up her things and stuffed them into her bright purple messenger bag. She slung her bag on her shoulder and began to head to the doors leading out of the library. As she walked she passed a girl in bright pink tank top named Carly that Astrid had never gotten along with. Usually she wouldn't pay attention to Carly but then the girl screamed a name and that made Astrid stop in her tracks. Her eyes located the boy who Carly had just called out to. He had just waved to Carly and Astrid could feel her heart begin to beat wildly in her chest. It couldn't be,why did he look so much like her imaginary friend? Before she had time to think about it Astrid approached the boy and stood face to face with him. Her eyes scanned his face and she looked at him puzzled."Cameron? Is that you?" She asked him in a surprised tone,using the name that only she had ever called him by. Everybody had called him Finn wish was had Carly had called him. Oh but not Astrid,she had always insisted on using his full name and felt so special that she was the only who did.

Finn scratched the back of his head "Uhm, yeah, but I actually go by Finn, I don't really like being called Cameron, its just not me." He looked at Astrid and didn't remember talking to her or her introducing herself earlier in the day so how did she know his name? It wasn't like anyone ever called him Cameron either. A tug on his sleeve pulled Finn out of his thoughts and he looked over to see Carly trying to get his attention. He looked back at Astrid and ask "How'd you know my name? I don't think we've met." Before Astrid had even a chance to answer, Carly impatiently whined 'Come on, I want you to meet some of my friends!' at Finn with a slight protective tone in her voice. "Oh, okay" Finn shrugged at her, he obviously wan't very interested but he went along with it anyway. He wasn't the type to say no and for that he was usually everyone's friend.

Realistically Astrid knew that the boy standing infront of her could not possible be someone she had made up years ago. He just looked so familiar and maybe she had seen him somewhere or she had just forgotten how Cameron had actually look like. That was what she rationalized in her head but the why did she feel so disappointed when he said they hadn't met before. They probably hadn't. His name was Cameron though! But maybe that was just a coincidence. Maybe it was all some big coincidence.All these feelings of childhood nostalgia had her seeing and thinking weird things. "Just a lucky guess. We haven't met. I'm sorry I just confused you for somebody else." She told him,trying not to sound as sad as she suddenly felt. Carly appeared out of nowhere and dragged Finn away before Astrid could say anything else and she was relived. She continued walking to the exist,wanting to put some distance between her and the boy who had just made her lose all reason. There was no way he was her Cameron,he would remember her and never leave her for Carly. Nope not her imaginary friend at all. She thought,convincing herself as she walked to her locker. The period was almost over and she had classes to go to.

Finn said hi to Carly's friends even though he really didn't want to meet anyone else today. He waited until the group of girls were gossiping again before he slipped away without being noticed. Girls always seemed to like him but he was never really sure why, so he rarely dated. When he did date he would just feel guilty about not liking the girl the way she liked him so he'd end it. Finn yawned, his classes were over for the day, people had just kept him around cause they kept talking to him. This was the first time he'd been alone all day, it was pretty peaceful. He let out a decent sized sigh and looked for a way out, the school was pretty big and everyone was pulling him all over, he didn't even know where he was at this point.

Astrid felt like an idiot as she walked mindlessly away from the library. How could she just go up and talk to Cameron like that? He had only kind of looked like her imaginary friend who at the time had been a small boy. There was just a tiny bit of resemblance and Astrid needed to stop thinking about her long gone imaginary childhood friend. She did have one more class to go to and it was art and all they would be doing in that class was work on their projects that Astrid still had no clue what she was going to do for. Plus she really just felt out of it after her run in with Cameron and decided to just go home. She could make up some lame excuse as to why she missed class today and it wasn't like anyone was going to be home to ask her why she wasn't in school. So she quickly headed to her locker which was in a quiet far corner in the school. She grabbed the things she would need for her homework tonight and began to head to the nearest exist. She pulled out her phone from her bag to text her friend. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going though because she had attention on her phone. She winded up bumping into someone's back. "Oh god I'm so sorry." She muttered as she put her phone away and looked at the person she had bumped into with an apologetic look. She gave them a small smile as she looked up at them and then she blushed realizing the person she had bumped into was Cameron. She looked down at the ground and brushed her hair out of her face."Sorry." She said again as she began to walk away from him,not wanting to say something stupid like she had earlier to him.
