The house seemed different, as if it was a echo of the past. For Ducky, it was more recalling ghosts, seeing them move and speak to her but yet they were not there. Ghosts of memories, it would be mentioned. Her fingers moved over the dusty items, gathering up what she could. "Home," she said, but it was not the same. It was empty, just like her heart. One day, she could recalled in the past that she went out to pick apples deep into the forest with Hortense dragging along complaining about the weather. All she could remember was scolding Hortense for not paying attention, and then the memories blacked out. It was only just recently that they had started returning. Ducky sighed heavily, looking around. Surely, the memories were flooding back. Her marriage to Junior, her babies Hortense and Sari. "Junior? Sari?" she called out, frowning when she had received an echo. "Hortense, stay close by.""Not like I'm going anywhere, mama," Hortense murmured, grimacing as she looked around before she moved to see her old bedroom. It was empty. "Mama, there's nothing here. Just boxes," she frowned, sniffing. "What happened?"The more the duo had looked around, it was apparent that nobody had lived in the house for the longest of time. Just boxes, with stuff tossed into and objects that had significant meaning to them. Going through some, Ducky had found a box that had her stuff, with Junior's. All the thing that he had given her, it was packed up. "Oh no," she mumbled, sniffling. And so, she moved to sit down on the floor, dumping the items out to fish through them.

Junior wasn't sure what brought him back to the home he'd built for a family that barely existed anymore. Maybe it was at his daughter's request. Maybe it was his way of getting over a past that will never become present. He'd mostly avoided the area since his father came back, since he'd given up on Ducky ever returning. He grieved the loss of his daughter and his former mate.
Things had begun looking up for him, he'd found a friend in his loneliness, a family who needed him, just like Jester and Bneut had. He even had new sisters to help him along. Plus he'd found out that he had grandchildren, great grandchildren... Family he hadn't known about.
It wasn't until he had almost gotten into the house that he'd realized someone was there. Was there a pae that had sensed it was abandoned and moved into it? With a frown Junior opened the cracked front door, only to frown even more when he spotted two very familiar pairs of wings and heads of hair. "Hortense? Ducky?" he asked, disbelieving that they'd be here.

Ducky looked up, her eyes widened slightly before she moved gracefully to stand up. Her angelic wings spread out behind her, the feather relocated to lay upon one another in a layer upon layer. Her red hair, oh how it shimmered, cascaded over her shoulder. "J-junior?" she stammered. The woman did not know how to proceed with the awkward meeting. In her mind, it was like two lives were merging into one, with all the memories of her former life and the previous life coming in at once. Hortense, however, was not like her mother. Instead, she just boldly took off at a running place and proceeded to jump the yellow spotted pae'il. "Daddy!" she cried happily.

Junior's response was automatic. Hortense jumping at him, of course he was going to catch his baby girl. Strong yellow arms wrapped around Hortense, catching her followed by a spin. "Baby Girl, you're home!" He smiled, trying to keep the tears out of his voice. Thank the guardians he had his sunglasses on, surely they would see him crying at seeing the girls again.
"And Ducky... You're home too." The pure love that had radiated from him at Hortense's reaction had diminished a bit, but it was still there. It was shaded with hurt. She'd up and left him without so much as a note explaining why. Clearly something had to have been wrong for her to have left like that, but she must have known how much she hurt him in the process. Right? "This is real... Isn't it? I'm not just finally loosing what little of my mind I had left?" He asked, squeezing Hortense one more time before relaxing his grip so she could properly breathe.
Nothing was the same, not in this home of nightmares. He couldn't trust this to be real until something was proven to him. He'd imagined these two here before, just waiting for him and Sari to return. But never like this. It had to be different this time...
