Amelia was wondering when she could get the ball rolling on this whole interview process for Weyrwoman... A meeting had yet to be arranged with the current Juniors and she couldn't just stake out a claim despite Sharath insisting that doing exactly that showed initiative. It did but it also showed an utter lack of respect for the local powers.

For now, dragon and rider were making do by getting their hands dirty and helping out with the physical labour around the Weyr. It had surprised people and more then one person was a little uncomfortable with a Goldrider hauling stacks of wood or throwing a bag of coal over her shoulder like a grunt. Thankfully the awkwardness had eased as Amelia proved she was enjoyable company while Sharath, refusing to drag trees around, had agreed to let the children play with her.

They currently scrambled over her sides, a few girls even sitting on her neck and looking for all the world like the biggest windfall had happened across them. Sharath's small size didn't seem to matter to the children and it showed in her unusual tolerance for their poking and prodding - a pair of boys were currently inspecting her teeth as she held her mouth open patiently.

You look like you're having fun. Amelia commented, warmth and endearment in her mindvoice.

They are impressed by me, as they should be, and marvel at my size, Mine. They have been raised well. The gold rumbled happily and the children squawked with glee.

Amused, Amelia set the bundle of wood down in the pile, her face dirty from ash and grit, her clothing soiled from sweat and that same grit. She looked as if she were a common drudge.

She'd been helping various people most of the morning that Narisa couldn't even list off who all they were now. There had been a list of things she wanted to check out, get clarified, ask for opinions, and a few other important tasks. Or what she considered important. A few things, even after being at the Weyr for a little over four and half turns now, Narisa was still learning. As she'd discovered long ago, there was always something new to learn!

As afternoon came and started to roll through, Narisa found herself not quite sure what was next on her agenda. And for the moment, she took the chance to catch her breath and walk with Cepheith. Or fly. The gold decided they needed to stretch her wings a bit.

Which was how they spotted the new golden pair that had been transferred from High Reaches. Shards! How could she not have found time to introduce herself to them?

Don't be so hard on yourself, Mine. You've been busy. They will understand. Cepheith rumbled pleasantly, dipping a wing and letting out a cheerful bugle to announce herself as she came to land a short distance away. Greetings! Forgive myself and Mine for not coming to see you and Yours sooner. I am Cepheith. And mine is Narisa. The gold took in the size of this Queen, surprised she was closer to Suunath's size. Was that how most golds were? She faintly remembered the other gold... Banshidheth being larger than even she was...

Once they were closer, Cepheith stopped to life her foot and allow Narisa to balance on it as she lowered her rider to the ground. "Hi and welcome!" She called with a smile, giving her gold a pat before approaching the new pair. "I know it's a bit late... but I wanted to formally welcome you to Trine Weyr! And introduce myself. I'm Narisa, one of the juniorweyrwomen. And this is Cepheith." It was clear that Narisa wasn't bothered by the others appearance. She herself, while not covered in grit and ash, was dressed more neutrally for working.

"I sincerely hope you both have been well met since arriving here." She added with a slightly tired smile.

Sharath's head arched up to watch the incoming gold, a bigger gold, and her mood darkened. Amelia felt the shift in her dragon's emotions and groaned silently... the one colour Sharath had trouble dealing with were other golds. Who had decided to drop in on them? The goldrider rather wished she'd had the chance to prepare first.

Greetings. I am Sharath and Mine is Amelia. The gold shifted a bit and the children scattered as she stood, loathe to be caught laying down by a potential rival, her proud bearing and regal arch to her neck hinting at her more aggressive nature.

Calm down, Amelia shot at Sharath, eyeing her bonded as she approached Narisa. The former miner cast an appraising glance over the other, noted the plain clothes for work, the genial attitude, and decided this was worth the time. "Hello! Thanks. I'm Amelia, originally from High Reaches. I'm glad you're introducing yourself, I was beginning to wonder." She offered a smile, wiping a dirty hand on her pants before offering it while the other hand wiped sweat from her brow. "For the most part, yes. I've learned quite a bit since my arrival and fear I was ill prepared for the transition. Much has transpired here."

She padded over to Sharath and patted the gold on the leg, glancing up at her bonded with obvious pride, "And this is Sharath." Nod or something. Sharath took a moment, her gaze intent on Cepeith before she bobbed it briefly. Amelia could tell the gold was looking for things to complain about in the other pair and sighed, wondering if Sharath would ever be able to get along with people her rank or higher.

"I hope you don't mind our helping out," She continued, keeping close to Sharath so as to cut off bad behaviour if it started, "I wasn't really sure where to begin."

The smaller gold's mood may have darkened on her approach, but Cepheith paid no mind to it. She was, in fact, quite thrilled to see a dragon such as Sharath letting the human hatchlings play with her. The posturing was not lost on Cepheith, however, but the bigger gold just settled herself comfortably. Well met, Sharath. And you too, Sharath's. Cepheith extended to Amelia briefly. I am glad to see the human hatchlings so happy. How are you and Yours settling in? She inquired sincerely.

A slightly embarrassed look crossed Narisa's features. "I truly am sorry about that! Finding free time, it seems, is not an easy task to accomplish." She took the offered hand, not even bothered by the fact it could have still been dirty. "I am relieved to hear you are settling well. And I'm afraid I'd have to agree with that. Trine has seen quite a lot these past few turns." She glanced at Sharath as she was introduced, offering the Queen a smile. "Pleasure to meet you too, Sharath!"

Narisa gave Amelia a surprised look. "Shells no! We appreciate any and all help we can get. I hope someone didn't put you up to this, though. I'll feel terrible if they did." But she couldn't deny that the help here was appreciated too. "I wish you and Sharath could have come to us when we were in a slightly better state. But we're lucky to have you." The young woman glanced around, a sad look flickering in her eyes. "I'm sure that Trine is quite different from High Reaches. But I promise, we'll do our best to make it better than before." Especially with the increased number of dragons and all forms of other folk they now had. More space was needed. More huts to live in. A place for everyone to feel safe. And to feel at home.

"Oh, right. Are there any questions you might have that I can try and answer for you?" She asked suddenly, smiling at the gold pair.

Amelia looked up at the gold as she was addressed directly, blinking. As much as Sharath had no qualms addressing those she felt stepped out of line, the Miner was disused to being addressed directly. "Well, thank-you!" She flashed a smiled.

Sharath rumbled pleasantly at the comment about the human children, bobbing her head slightly, They know their manners well.

Amelia was relieved that Narisa seemed glad to have them here, it was hard to gauge if she felt particularly keen to lead or not. "It is, there's far more Atypical dragons around. I had the pleasure of speaking to Kleos and her Crimson. She's going to make arrangements for my skills as a Journeyman Miner to be put to use." She smiled broadly, ever proud of her background.

Sharath nosed her bonded, rumbling in response to Narisa's question. Amelia chuckled at that, placing a hand on her dragon's nose, "Actually, yes." She cleared her throat and stood a bit more formally, "Well, to start at the beginning... Sharath is gold, it's kind of hard to over look that, and I'd be lying if I said our transfer here had nothing to do with the competition Trine has in place. To that end, we wanted to know how to proceed in entering that competition." She paused a moment before continuing, trying her best to be as diplomatic as possible, "I understand the Weyr is divided into districts that you and... a Kindra are responsible for. However, I don't want to just waltz in and step on toes, I'd rather we work out designated territories amicably as well as give you a formal declaration of my goals here."

Amelia's gaze strayed over the people she'd been helping, they'd gathered in loose clusters a little ways away, "However, I am acutely aware that such a goal won't be served by an ignorant grab for power and I intend first to integrate into the culture here, to learn people's story, better understand what the Weyr needs to heal. I will prove myself as well as assist where I can and I expect it to be quite the learning curve - High Reaches rather enjoyed its removed, neutral position and very few stories of the struggles here sifted through." The goldrider's gaze turned serious as she met Narisa's, "I wish to remedy my ignorance first and foremost."

She fell quiet, unashamed of her words yet hoping Narisa would understand her position. Sharath waited for the reaction, holding her tongue for once.

Cepheith let a feeling of warmth sift between herself and Sharath's bonded in thanks before turning her attention back to the smaller gold. That they do. Though lately, I fear they have not gotten as much time to enjoy our company as much. At least not that Cepheith could immediately think of. And she didn't recall Suunath remembering any time spent with the young hatchlings recently. The larger gold looked fondly over at them.

Narisa couldn't help the rather fond smile that crossed her features. "Ah, Wingleader Kleos was an excellent person to talk with! I hope she made you feel welcome as well?" She respected the crimson pair quite a bit. And hearing that Kleos was going to help Amelia find a use for her craft, Narisa made a mental note to thank the woman. "I'm glad to hear this! Everyone can use a little extra help, and I'd rather you do something you're familiar and comfortable with. It will make your transfer much easier to grow accustomed to!"

Noting the shift in Amelia's posture, Narisa wondered what might be on her mind. A small chuckle was directed at the fact that Sharath was indeed gold, however this was quickly replaced with surprise. Competition? It took her a minute to decipher what it was she spoke of. They wish to lead the Weyr. How interesting. Cepheith murmured privately to her rider, who agreed.

A frown formed as Narisa considered what Amelia was asking, trying to find the best answer to give her. So had she spoken with Kindra already? Remind me to ask Kindra how their talk went. She said absently to Cepheith, wondering what her friend thought of Amelia. "I think... " Narisa started slowly, piecing out her thoughts. "That the best 'start', for lack of better terms, would be as you say. To learn a little more about the people here. And what Trine has undergone. And I don't mean to make it sound like you two are ignorant fools without this. But I feel that, if I were in your position, I'd understand things a little better hearing stories directly from the folks here." She gave a little gesture and smile at those Amelia had been working with. "Ask them to tell you their stories. Learn where they came from. Or even why they chose Trine. I believe, once you start to gain an understanding of why everyone made the choices they made, you'll feel more confident in your ability to possibly lead them."

There are many tales to hear from many sources. Cepheith added for all three to hear. Even my own hide holds a few scars.

Narisa crossed her arms with a thoughtful look around them. "You're most comfortable with the miner's right now, right? Why don't you and Sharath start here. Get to know them better and what they think. And then branch out to their families and friends." She flashed the two a grin. "And in the meantime, I'll see what I can do about splitting the districts between three of us, though that might take a sevenday or so. Would it be alright for me to assume you'd like to have this general area in your district?" She asked, indicating the miner's she'd been helping.

Sharath rumbled, glad to have been the first in a while to entertain the human hatchlings... they would remember her then. Are the others prone to conflict? The gold was curious... if Cepeith had difficulty finding time to tend to hatchlings, did that mean the three Weyrs' worth of dragons did not get along? And with no active senior gold... she could only imagine - or dream, as the case may be.

"Wingleader Kleos was extremely helpful." She smiled and shrugged, "I'm rather used to rough starts." Being plunked down the in the middle of things tended to be a trend in her life it seemed.

When the other agreed with what Amelia had decided to do, it was a relief. "I have been, and intend to, do that. It's been difficult... I'm not Weyrbred and I never received Candidate training, Sharath just demanded I come down to the Sands when she hatched, and from then on it's been nothing but politics and drama." Amelia sighed, looking worn for the first time since arriving at Trine, "I guess I half expect that trend down here... but, well, you're not what I was worrying about. That alone helps me settle - I far prefer to be one of the guys, not some target of gossip and spite." The gratefulness was plain in her voice as she offered a smile.

"I'm perfectly fine with that, of course. I'd much rather be able to put my skills to good use."

Sharath looked over Cepeith's hide looking for the scars she's mentioned, They would dare attack a Queen?? The young queen might not take kindly to her fellows but the sheer audacity and disrespect such an action implied... it positively rankled. Her wings ruffled as she rumbled at the idea. You may be a rival but you are still a Queen and deserve the respect that entails! The silently implied exception being other golds of course.

Amelia looked up at her bonded with a curious smile, pleased to see the other making progress. She'd come a long way from the hatchling that chaffed at the Senior's orders at every turn.

Cepheith contemplated how to respond to Sharath's question, sifting through her rider's memories to gain the most accurate answer. Some were, when things were more chaotic. She replied with a soft rumble. But now, not so much. Mine and myself as well as the other golds here have just been very busy. She finally concluded.

Narisa gave the other woman a nod, more relieved then she could really say that Kleos had been one of the first for Amelia to come across. "She is a great asset to us here. And she'd be a great person for you to talk with if you want to learn more about a non-Trine native's perspective." She added with a smile. "Wingleader Kleos originates from Malvren, and came here when it was taken over. I think you'd find talking with her very helpful."

She was pleased to hear that Amelia truly did want to learn more about Trine and how it now housed three Weyrs. If she'd just wanted to come in for leadership alone, Narisa felt she'd have not known what to think of this goldrider. "Then I'd say you're off to a perfectly good start! Though I am sorry that your candidacy was a bit different." Narisa paused, glancing at Cepheith, who dipped her head slightly. "I know I'm in no way the best teacher around, but please, don't hesitate to ask for my help if you're confused or unsure of something." A small laugh did bubble up at hearing mention of 'politics and drama'. "Ah, I wish I could say there was no politics and drama involved, but alas. That is a part of being a junior weyrwoman and any ranking rider, it would seem. Shells, it's even true of the kitchens and candidate and weyrling masters!"

The gratefulness in the other goldrider's voice made Narisa's smile soften. "Honestly, I feel like there is too much to work on to rebuild and recover from the uprising. Why should we waste it on petty things such as spite or some competition for who is the best?" Narisa glanced out towards the Weyr. "Whoever is meant to lead, will lead. So in the meantime, focusing efforts on what is truly important is what matters most." She gestured around them at all the people. "And to me, that is making sure everyone here has nothing to fear and building trust that they'll know we'll do whatever we must to protect them."

Nodding, she flashed Amelia a grin. "Then, if you are fine with it, I think I'll have you start here, where you are most at home. And since you're of the minecraft, maybe you can work with the crafters to determine the best place to start building more huts to house the overflow of people? Does that sound like something you'd handle easily?" It would also cross off one of the many things on her list of projects in desperate need of starting.

Cepheith regarded the younger gold. They dared to do a lot of things that were unsavory, I'm afraid. Her tail twitched at the tip, pulling up memories from Narisa's mind.I must also admit, one of my attackers was another Queen. This was added a little more gently, as Cepheith didn't think Sharath would like hearing this. I do thank you for your words. This gold was very ambitious but young. But, she kind of liked her. Or felt this one needed watching out for. Until she learned more.

The Weyr is quiet now, then. Set'al spoke of that being temporary at best, however. Sharath made a thoughtful sound, it seemed she and Hers had arrived in the calm before the storm and nobody knew the sorts of storms that were coming. That was a dangerous position to be in, Sharath decided. She didn't like not knowing.

Amelia laughed, shrugging, "A different breed of politics I'm afraid. And that's very wise... power for power's sake is useless." The goldrider mentally nudged her dragon, who merely eyed her back.

At the request to build houses, the former miner chuckled, "A task I can handle, but we'll see about easily. Is there perhaps a place we can stay or make formally ours? I've just been sleeping in the crook of Sharath's arm, honestly.... and a bed sounds amazing." She seemed a little sheepish asking - Amelia loved her dragon to bits but she sometimes woke with horrible kinks in her neck.

Sharath simply rumbled angrily at the other's words, her own tail twitching. She was not a Queen that would brook such awful behaviour! Silently, she tossed her head.

Cepheith merely nodded, though she had grown more accustomed to not knowing what to expect with each new day. She and hers simply chose to take it step by step. They knew what needed to be done. Worked to achieve this. And that was really all anyone could expect. For now, anyways.

Narisa gave a small laugh herself. "Aye, that it true. But still... politics! You'll never outrun them!" She was, even if she didn't admit it out loud, grateful that Amelia understood her feelings. So what if she wasn't the most ambitious to try and obtain the position of Weyrwoman?! Narisa had enough ambition in her for the entire Weyr as a whole. And seeing it 'whole' again, was what she wanted more than anything.

Hearing that Amelia was willing to take on a task to rebuild was a relief, though it was short lived. The look that flashed across Narisa's face was mirrored in the tinge of red that lit up Cepheith's eyes, the gold's tail smacking the ground. "You haven't even been given a hut to stay in?" She whispered, feeling utterly terrible. "Sweet Faranth! I am so sorry!" Why had no one bothered to tell her that their newest goldrider had no living space? Cepheith, find them a place right away. I know there are a few people near our own hut that wouldn't mind sharing a space.

It shall be done.

Narisa ran a hand through her hair. "I promise you by this evening, you will have a place to sleep that is not outside. Though it may be with a roommate. If that will be a problem, I'll find you someplace else and it can be a temporary thing instead." Worst case scenario, she would put the two in her own hut and stay with someone else for the night. But by the Egg Narisa was damn determined they had somewhere comfortable to sleep! "I can't even begin to apologize for this." She added with a heavy sigh. "But I am grateful you are willing to take on the project of building more homes." She offered the two a smile.

"I know it probably isn't much, but if you want a place to relax for a few hours once finished here, you are more than welcome to rest in our hut. So long as you don't mind my roommate being around." Not that she knew where Kindra currently was. "Cepheith can show Sharath where to find us. And please, don't ever hesitate to have Sharath contact us if you need anything!"

Sharath caught that flash of red in Cepeith's eyes and shifted a bit, preparing to catch the other gold if she moved on Amelia. The defensive posture faded, however, as Narisa continued to speak. "Aah, it's alright. The nights are nice and warm here, so it's a bit exotic to sleep under the stars and not freeze my fingers off." Amelia grinned, "I don't mind a room mate as long as their dragon doesn't cause problems with Sharath..." She wrinkled her nose at the thought of the queen getting into a fight... the poor thing would probably end up horribly injured.

Sharath snorted at that, I would not, Mine. I would tell them Stop.

Amelia sighed. Sharath was never wary about using her commanding ability, it was a birthright she insisted.

"A hut would be nice, though, as a sort of headquarters. Wingleader Kleos thinks it a good idea I pass my craft on to others who are interested in learning and having a central point to find me or leave messages would be useful." She pondered, then chuckled "And store plans... It might be more of an office at this point. And I was going to wade in the lake after this, wash up, but thank you for the offer!"

Narisa still felt embarrassed that the gold pair had been sleeping outside. But, she had known, there were rider's that were suffering the same fate. As hard as she tried to work out sleeping quarters. But perhaps not for long, if Sharath's can help build more weyrs. Yes. That gave her hope.

The larger gold noticed the shift but paid it no attention, allowing herself to relax again now that the momentary outrage her rider had felt vanished.

"I'll see if I can compile a small list of current rider's with space for a roommate that I... think would work alright for you two." Narisa said slowly, mind already racing through faces and dragons and setting stuff potentials aside. "Then we'll be sure to find you one!" She grinned at Amelia. "Tell you what. If you want to finish up here and then take a break and relax a little, I'll get that list ready and come introduce you to each one? I'll have Cepheith get in touch with Sharath when we are ready." Plus, it would let Amelia have a chance to wash the grime out of her fingers. And not be caught so unprepared as Narisa had done.

Cepheith, can you get in contact with Mazamath, Aeskeluth, Qizixth... Moriath perhaps?

Yes, Mine. Shall I ask them to relay our requests to their riders?

Yes please.

"Right. Ceph and I will leave you two to finish up here! And I'll see you in a little bit." With that, Narisa offered Amelia one more handshake before heading back towards her dragon.
