"Order, order!" called Prime Meridian, clapping a makeshift gavel (a twig) on his makeshift counter (a stump). "This meeting of the Boys-Only Gem-Eye Club For Boys will be called to order. Roll call -- is the president, Sandlot Bambino, present?" Prime made a huge show of looking around the playground, as though checking out a crowd. In truth, between him and the swings, there was only one other foal he could be talking to.

Prime Meridian wasn't the only one who was a great fan of putting on a show. A bright flash flew past him, did a loop-de-loop around the swings, and ever so gracefully (after fifty tries) Bambino was sitting in his president's chair (an old plastic chair they dragged out of the trash). "I am most certainly present." The fiery lad said with a grin as he crossed his hooves and leaned back. This time he managed to keep his balance and stay up straight with little to no falter. "How you doin, Vice President? Looking cool as ever." He said with a nod. Bambino glanced around the playground and then scooted his seat a tad closer to his trusty Vice President, "Anybody see that wild entrance? I almost hit Crazy Legs Peg. Didn't throw off my groove, right?"

"Yes, yes, Sir President, an excellent entrance. Please, all of you in the audience, hold your applause." Prime Meridian held up one hoof as if trying to keep an audience silent, then shook it a few times as though the audience would simply not listen. He then added his own clapping to the imaginary whistles. "LADIES! Please restrain yourselves."
To his surprise, however, someone else WAS applauding. A little foal, peeking out from behind a tree, his eyes super-duper round and excited. He looked at Sandlot and Meridian as though they were superheroes or celebs.
"Er... hello..." Prime Meridian greeted, half-awkwardly.

Bambino chuckled like the old sauve movie stars, the ones from old black and white movies his mother loved to watch, as he joined his friend and quelling their boisterous crowd. "Ladies and gents, I will sign autographs later. Give my pal a happy hoof too! I wouldn't be where I am without my trusty dude."
Bambino clapped for his friend and gave a bow. When he straightened the little guy was just as surprised as Meridian to see that someone actually WAS there. Usually this spot was their own island of coolness that no one tried to cross over too. Not a ton of kids could handle how awesome they were.
"Huh? Uh, hey dude, sup?" He gave a quick nod to the kid and then looked back to Meridian. "So lets get on with our agenda...."
But the little colt wasn't leaving. He was actually coming closer with a huge smile on his face and regular non-gem eyes sparkling with glee. "H-Hi Bambino...Meridian. Um...w-what are you guys doing? Special gem-eye stuff?"

"First thing on the... ah... docket... uhm..." Prime Meridian looked over at the other foal, fumbling with his words. It was hard to get back on track. The kid was totally harshing their vibe! Or, uhm, something. Actually he was just standing there, waiting for a response.
"Uh... kind of? I mean, it's a gem-eye club, cause there's not a lot of, uh... boys... with gem-eyes..." Prime Meridian explained, somewhat awkwardly. He didn't know how to tell the kid that the name Gem Eye was in the TITLE of the club, and, well, he wasn't one...
The foal seemed to wilt a little under the explanation. "So... I guess you don't need, like, another... member or anything?"

Sandlot Bambino frowned as Prime Meridian stumbled over his words and just seemed flustered all thanks to this weirdo popping in on their special business. The colt glanced over at the foal and arched a brow. He was still there. Even after Meridian's very well done explanation. Hrmph.
Wait...what?
Bambino's ears flickered at the foal's question. He was actually looking to JOIN their club? Their special gem eye boys-only club?
The little pegasus puffed up his chest and fluttered over to the normie eye. His sparkling blue eyes narrowed and his brows knit together as he examined the nervous colt. The little guy looked like he was shrinking under Bambino's steady gaze.
It didn't look like he was joking...or trying to pick on them. This foal was actually positively serious. Huh.
"Un momento kiddo." Bambino did a quick diplomatic nod and zoomed over to Meridian. He gave his friend a push towards some bushes. "Come with me Vice President."
"And don't you move from that spot!" He quickly shot back at the colt.
The little guy quickly nodded back, at a lost for words after witnessing the Bambino whirlwind. Without budging from his spot, he watched the yellow pegasus shove and pull his non-winged buddy towards some nearby grove.

Prime Meridian smiled his most charming (okay, slightly smarmy) smile at the foal as he disappeared behind the foliage with Sandlot Bambino. Truth be told, he was incredibly happy that Sandlot Bambino had taken the initiative. He'd been trying to figure out a way to sneak them away to talk, himself, but he didn't have Bambino's dazzling flash.
"We'll be back in two shakes of a phony's tail!" said Meridian behind him.
In the relative privacy of the bushes, Meridian lowered his voice. "We -- probably shouldn't let a normal-eye in, right?"
His voice held no conviction. All Prime Meridian could think about was the poor foal's look of utter hopelessness as he'd learned their club was for gem-eye boys only.

Bambino grumbled and threw himself dramatically against the branches and leaves. "How should I know?!" He barked back at his friend. The colt huffed and turned his head, now covered in leaves and pieces of broken twigs, "Sorry Meridian...didn't mean to yell." Obviously they were in a pickle. On one hoof, he wanted to keep their little gathering exclusive and small. On the other hoof, the kid looked pretty excited and then crushed about his chances of joining. This was supposed to be a fun thing! Why did their classmate have to go and ruin it? "Hrmph, I don't know...I mean...our special eyes are pretty amazing and we are pretty rare." He said as he shook out his messy mane, "But that means getting members has proved...difficult. Our poster campaign last week brought a butterfly annnd Mr.Rock and neither of those can talk." Of course the real issue was not letting someone play with them was not a good-phony thing to do. "And I guess it would be mean not to let him play with us....what do you think? I want to keep us cool. Just not sure how letting him in or out will play out for us..." Why did their parents have to raise them right? Sometimes it was such a bother.

Meridian scratched his chin. The prospect of letting in a normie was not wholly comfortable to him. What would keep their club exclusive of they let in just ANYONE, after all? But on the other hoof, Bambino was right. It WOULD be mean to just leave the poor foal out in the dust. And their club was a little… too… exclusive currently.
Meridian suddenly perked up. "What if we open a position, my man? Gem-Eye-Normie-Eye Relations Expert? We could let him do that! And that way it's still totally exclusive and awesome and rocking and sweet."
He practically sparkled under the weight of his own brilliance.

Sandlot Bambino sported a wide grin when he turned to look at his friend, "I think that is an absolutely fantastic idea, Meridian! We could use a relations expert, especially if we seek to spread how amazing we are."
The colt nodded quickly, "Yes, yes, I think that will all work out perfectly. Lets go tell him!"
And with that he gave his friend a push out of their hiding place and right infront their newest addition. "We've decided! You, my dear newest buddy, shall be our grand Gem-Eye-Normie-Eye Relations expert! The go-between for everyone. So...How soon can you start?" He asked with delight.
The little colt flushed, clearly eager but taken aback, "I uh...I um...I-I guess I can now? Yes! Now!"
"Excellent! And with that, I, Sandlot Bambino, welcome you too our club!! Right, Prime Meridian?"

"Absolutely. One-hundred percent. More than that. A bazillion percent," Meridian said, nodding with a massive smile on his face. He felt relieved -- the other colt wouldn't get his feelings hurt, he and Bambino could continue their club without feeling like elitist jerks, and everyone won. It was a win-win-win. And that was exactly what Meridian wanted.
The little colt seemed beside himself. "So... what do we do in the club?"
Meridian broke into a giant grin.
"Well, that can easily be explained by the president and myself, Brand New Cabinet Member of Gem-Normie-Eye Relations. Come, step into my office..."
