Name:
 Jamarin
Age:  16
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: Holdless Laborer
Description:

Jamarin is a pale young teenager with a bony, narrow face set in a perpetual pout. His hair is unevenly short and a muddy, straight, unremarkable brown.

Though strengthened from a life of constant work, he is built whippy and bony, not bulky, all corded muscles and sinew easily visible through his skin, along with his veins. Despite his thin, fair, parchment-like skin, he is outdoors frequently, and never seems to tan or burn.

His black eyes are squinted half-shut, as if he is always angry, skeptical, or, alternatively, blinded by the light. All of the above may well be true.

He stands straight and tall without a stoop, and gives off the impression – also true – of a prideful troublemaking fighter.

The bones of his face and the structure of his body are subtly off, though most can't put their finger on it, other than to say that he will be an 'interesting' looking, if not 'pretty' young man. Other than those little oddities, Jamarin looks like your basic scrappy teenage boy, and most don't think of him as anybody else.

Personality:

There has always been a blazing anger in Jamarin's soul, a fire that he couldn't quench even if he tried, which he has never bothered to do. Jamarin is angry, and he likes being angry – being calm and happy is horribly awkward for him.

Impulsive and violent, Jamarin is a frequent instigator of fights and won't hesitate to get in the middle of a one, even if it isn't his business. He has little respect for anybody, especially of rank: an attitude that stems from the idea that the universe dealt him a s**t hand from the very beginning and continues to do so to this day. He won't hesitate to mouth off if he feels like it which, of course, causes more fights.

What he does give due credit to, however, is the value of hard work. Nobody could accuse the boy of laziness – he will work from sunup to sundown on whatever seems important. Jamarin knows there are no free rides on Pern, and he will work for his keep. And, since he won't take handouts, he will do this whether his labor is explicitly wanted or not.

Jamarin has a deep appreciation for objects. Tools and belongings are necessities for living, and he cares for any tools under his care, keeping them in good condition. Other than for buying supplies, clothes, repairs, and food, Jamarin doesn't see much value in marks. A mark is only as good as what you buy with it, and he is very careful about what he uses it for.

Jamarin doesn't like to share. He looks out for himself, and only himself for the most part, his brother being the exception that proves the rule. Jikkiri provides an invaluable benefit to Jamarin – emotional support and companionship – that cannot be bought or sold and that is; in its peculiarities; unique to the brothers. They've been compared to a wher and its handler – with Jamarin, of course, being the ferocious wher.

But that is as far as Jamarin's questionable generosity holds. His brother is the giver. He is not.

Jamarin does not care about hold or holdless – he is free from all that nonsense. Where someone is and what group they are a part of mean little – Jamarin is not truly a part of any group. He is his own group. His brother is the exception to Jamarin's rampant lack of loyalty: Jamarin will protect his brother ferociously.

In the end, Jamarin is a sharp youth floating where he pleases in the winds of change.

Other:

On Dragons:
They're big and they fight thread? So what?

On Whers:
They're big and tough... Jamarin is tougher still.

On Holds:
Jamarin ran away for a reason and he thinks that they suck, just generally.

On Weyrs:
Like holds, Jamarin thinks they probably are generally not his sort of place. But again, the Wherhold isnt so bad.

On the Resistance:
Jamarin has no opinions on the resistance, outside a shrug.

On the Revolution:
The revolutionaries and the wherhandlers have been good to Jamarin and his brother, so he thinks that they are pretty okay.

Name: Jikkiri
Age:  16
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Craft/Rank:  Holdless Laborer
Description:
The best way to describe Jikkiri is 'soft', for his body has a very general and amenably soft roundness to him. There are no edges to him at all: his face is rounded, his body is rounded, even his hands and feet are rounded. Though he is thin because of the rigors of his life, it is clear that given even just a bit more food, Jikkiri would have a sort of false plumpness to him that would, along with his friendly face and demeanor, give him an aura of pleasant kindliness, much like a storekeeper or a grocer.

Jikkiri's skin is a pale-olive color, fleshy and filled out in a healthy way. His black hair is short and is naturally neat and easily kept. His round face, with it's slightly dulled black eyes, has a perpetually genial look to it, and it is difficult to imagine him frowning. The scraggly, soft, filamentous beginnings of a beard can be seen at his chin and just under it, enough to give him a sort of boyish maturity.

Personality:

While not quite the exact inverse of his twin, Jikkiri is definitely close. It is always clear at the very beginning that they are not identical twins, and that this goes so far as the personality.

Jikkiri is an affable and sweet young man, thorougly satisfied with himself, the world, and his place in it. He wants nothing more than food in his belly and company to share it with. Fortunately, thanks to his brother's work ethic, he has both. Jikkiri adores his brother and is very close to him.

However, Jikkiri has love and friendship to spare for other people as well. He is not picky about who he will open up to and spend time with. Friendly and inquisitive, Jikkiri will talk to everybody about anything, and just enjoy the fact that they exist. He loves to be helpful, and wants nothing more than to make someone else happy (or at least feel better. He would give someone the literal shirt off his back if he thought it would help them. He's so guile-less that some people think of him as a little bit 'slow', and he may well be: He is certainly not as sharp or as motivated as his brother.

Happy where he is, Jikkiri does not feel the need to put forth any more effort than is absolutely necessary. In other words, he is lazy: while capable of working all day, Jikkiri would much rather be laying around in a field enjoying the sun, the grasses, the people, food... everything. It is a habit that annoys his hard-working brother.

He and his brother, though different, have a sort of symbiotic relationship with each other. Jamarin works hard, explains things to, and stands up for Jikkiri. In return, Jikkiri – posessed of a cooler, calmer head – notices things that Jamarin does not. He is the only one able to reliably hold back and calm down his firey-tempered brother, and has been consistently (and constantly) supportive through his twin's difficulties.

Having Jamarin around to do the fighting for him works out well, since when confronted with conflict on his own, Jikkiri is ineffectual. Not being a violent individual himself, he goes so far as to find it difficult to understand why people (Aside from Jamarin) are violent, and how to deal with them when they are. Jikkiri can't do violence – he will attempt to appease before anybody turns to argument or confrontation. This means he will agree with anything if he feels it will make someone happy – a regular Pernese yes-man.

Jikkiri is highly dependent on others approval and aid. While he could – if he tried – be capable of handling himself, he has found that it is just so much easier to rely on others. This attitude would make him more suited for the life of a drudge, rather than a candidate, but his brother refuses to be tied down and, wherever his brother goes, Jikkiri will go too. So the life of a wandering holdless man it is, and Jikkiri accepts it happily and in stride, as he does with most things.

Other:

On Dragons:
Dragons are gorgeous... need he say more? They are just so beautiful in the air...

On Whers:
Jikkiri loves whers – they are loyal as canines and almost as spectacular as dragons... What is there not to love? Aside from the violence, that is.

On Holds:
Jikkiri has no opinion. He liked it in the hold, Jamarin wanted to run away, and where Jamarin goes, Jikkiri follows.

On Weyrs:
No opinion.

On the Resistance:
No opinion.

On the Revolution:
No opinion.

History:

The twins were born in a small Cothold to very tired parents who had few other hopes for their children but to work in the fields and, in Jamarin's case, marry well and bring their home a little more prestige, funding, food, and trade routes.

Although farming in their land was hard work, they were surrounded by family and so were inundated with the appropriate support and expectations from the moment of their birth.

But Jamarin had never felt comfortable in his fate to marry and produce children, and he grew increasingly uncomfortable in his own skin. Family though they were, nobody in the hold understood his problem and laughed it off as childish fancy, brought on by too many harper tales (though in truth Jamarin was not a story-loving child). “You're a girl” they told him, “Your duty to us is to work hard and marry well and make children for the future.”

Only his twin, Jikkiri understood. Jikkiri was happy in his life growing up on the farm, and in his role as a worker. When his brother was upset, however, and decided, when they were ten, to run away from home, Jikkiri was right behind him.

Jamarin took a few tools (for weapons) and supplies, and set off on the open road with his brother. They were fortunate, encountering and joining a holdless group called the Wild Whers and following them around Pern. As able bodied young men who were unscarred, they pulled their weight by assisting in working at the holds and bringing in supplies and marks for the group.

When the twins were 13 Jamarin's body began to change attempting to force womanhood upon him. Jikkiri's support helped Jamarin through this tough time, and he soon figured out how to bind his chest and hide the other signs, pretending that his body and mind matched up perfectly, a set of skills he managed to refine over the next few years.

In the meantime, the twins followed the Wild Whers to Malvren weyr and participated in the revolution. Jikkiri stayed with the noncombatants of the band, while Jamarin was let loose like a wild wher himself.

In the turns that follow, they meandered through the Weyr, taking on odd jobs and observing the wherhold as it unfolded. Jamarin loved the restrained ferocity of the place, feeling akin to it. Jikkiri was happy either way. When the chance came to become candidates, they both agreed, why not?

Hey! Jamarin look great to me and their history is fine but if Jikkiri is going to be a dragon candidate he needs more detail in his personality so that we can match him to a dragon. If you could add a bit more in about how he interacts with others (introverted? Extroverted? Likes attention, or not?), any fears he has, anything that makes him angry or upsets him, and suchlike I can approve them both!
