Had it only been five to six years since he woke up here on this very couch in Richard's apartment the morning after his corruption? Amethyst reminisced for a moment as he stood in the middle of the currently empty apartment with mere minutes to go till he was supposed to meet a certain red-head General-King.

There were a great many things that had happened since way back then. Good times that took the form of both Buddingtonite and Serpentine's promotion to General-Kings, the establishment of the Medical Corps that both Mica and him had toiled long and hard for. Yet it wasn't without its fair share of setbacks such as Mica's sudden disappearance and Buddingtonite needing to be on regular medication so as to preserve what was left of his broken mind after what he had been through over the years.

Sitting himself down on the couch, he powered down then took a glance at his watch. Buddingtonite should be here anytime now unless something that urgently required his attention was holding him up.

He didn't want to go. He didn't. And as a General-King of the Negaverse, he felt it was well within his right NOT to go, and so he tried to put it off by any means necessary. He dove into his paperwork, but alas, he was caught up in no time at all! Amazing how quickly he ran through it when he was determined to focus his full attention on it, or perhaps that was simply fate deciding to be a cruel mistress and taking away a good distraction from his appointment today.

Distractions, distractions, distractions. That's all this life has become of you, hasn't it?

Shut up you.

I hope there is an endless mountain for when you return.

I hope you drown.

When the paper work failed, he had hoped that there were missions he could indulge in, but once again, it was taken care of. Serpentine insisted he take this appointment seriously, and to guarantee that he would go, he took the Lovelies to handle his duties instead! Imagine Buddingtonite's surprise when he came to their favorite meeting spot and found that there was no one there. Not a single captain, general, or senshi to be found! Even Dallol was gone! Without Serpentine or his Lovelies, he wouldn't dare take to the streets on patrol alone... what else was there left to do but go to his appointment?

Many things. Go for a stroll. Get lost. Burn the apartment to the ground and let its ashes choke you.

Why so violent? Boaz was in the apartment!

He already knows. He's going to crack your head open...

No he won't.

He'll split it open and throw a youma in there. It's what you deserve.

Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Just shut up. An hour. An hour of peace is all I ask.

He didn't want to go, but he had no choice. He only needed a refill of his prescription- surely that wouldn't take too much time. He was just going to talk to a good friend, get some medication, and that'd be that.

When he arrived, he didn't bother looking around. This apartment was still under his name and he still paid for it, but there was nothing left in there. The electricity was kept on, so at least they had that, and Buddingtonite kept his gaze on Boaz, only on Boaz, as he took a seat across from him. His smile was wide, pleasant, as though happy to see his friend. The only thing he was happy about during these troubling ordeals these days... was seeing his friends.

"Been awhile. How's it been? Can we make this quick?"

"Indeed it has been Richard." Boaz nodded with a smile, genuinely happy to see the redhead though a part of him wished offhandedly that it was for another reason other than a medically related review. It seemed kind of sad to him that their respective duties kept them so busy these days that this was the only reason that would afford them an opportunity to sit down and have a conversation together.

Blinking slowly at the General-King's request for the meeting to be as short as possible, the blond resisted the urge to frown, his lips pursed together to form a thin line. "Did something just come up that urgently requires your attention? General-King Serpentine was rather insistent that we sit down and talk for at least an hour. Preferably longer."

It was a calculated move on his part really for he was well aware that there was nothing he could do to keep the General-King with him if the redhead suddenly decided to pull rank on him and question his judgement. Hopefully the looming threat of possibly incurring the wrath of a certain rainbow-haired General-King should he insist on being non-compliant, would encourage Buddingtonite to stay long enough to have an actual conversation.

Buddingtonite resisted the urge to sneer, but only because it was Boaz that he showed some restraint. Anyone else, and he would have slammed his fist on the arm of his chair or desk, proclaim that they address him with the proper title and then proceed to think of the most obscure punishment for them for making such an offense to him. He was General-King Buddingtonite, and he demanded others address him as such. Even know, and though there was no desk to pound on, he did make a point to allow some sharpness to edge his words as he corrected Boaz. "General-King Buddingtonite. I didn't work my a** off to get this position and I would greatly appreciate it if you'd remember that."

If by 'work a** off' you mean allowing someone else to take the fall, then spot on.

His scarred hand trembled slightly before he balled it up, and with a short, wavering breath, he forced himself to calm down. He offered Boaz a smile, hoping he didn't read minds or could see the agitation in his crimson eyes, though the thought of this entire session lasting an hour killed him on the inside. An hour? An hour? He almost rather DIE...

But he kept this to himself as he answered with a reluctant sigh. He could easily lie to Boaz and make up some excuse, but then he'd likely request to tag along, and that'd just make things awkward. It was only an hour... surely an hour wouldn't kill him. "Of course he would. Fine, an hour, and not a second more. I'm a very busy man and I have things to do. I can't be bothered with all of this... minutia."

He tried to relax, and he failed miserably. Something wasn't right about this place anymore... there should have been more there. Clawed feet scuffling against the floor, the pounding of a thick tail that slapped against a wall or knocked something over. But nothing. There was nothing.

"Well, what are we to discuss today?"

Boaz had deliberately chosen to have these sessions here in Richard's apartment. Even gone as far as to power down in the hope that the General-King would perhaps do likewise so that they could have this conversation not as General to General-King, not as a doctor to a patient but as the friends they had become since the day they met. "My apologies General-King. That was not my original intent but I do appreciate your willingness to overlook this incident."

But it seemed that that plan had fallen through given the redhead's apparent attachment to the title as he chastised him lightly for not addressing him as such. It made him wonder at times just how much of Richard was left in him ever since his promotion to General-King and how much of it was actually the chaos using him as a vehicle to carry out its will. "Appreciate your cooperation in this General-King. I assure you that we will end this session within an hour so that you can get back to your duties without any further delays."

He played along for now, working on establishing the rapport necessary for the task at hand as he tilted his head towards the clock on the far wall to indicate to the other that he was keeping a close watch on the time while they were having this conversation. As much as Buddingtonite abhorred these sessions and did everything avail to him to defer them till Serpentine found time to go after him, such minutia as he had taken to referring to them as, especially when it concerned Richard's things and his personal wellbeing, were important in Boaz's opinion even if the other tried to make light of it.

"Perhaps... you could start by telling me how you've been as of late? Does the medication help with the voices in any way?"

Hate it here. Too quiet. Too quiet.

Buddingtonite glanced away and hoped that Boaz wouldn't look too deep into the action. Of course, he knew he would- everything he did, every little thing, was open to be judged and would be not only judged, but nitpicked, analyzed, twisted and turned against him. He hated these sessions and he hated that he hated these sessions!

Just leave! What the hell can he say to you, oh mighty General-King?

"Apology accepted, just please do not let it happen again," Buddingtonite said, never realizing Boaz' attempt to get him to power down. If he did, he showed no signs of getting the message, nor would he oblige. He was Buddingtonite. General-King Buddingtonite. Which meant this apartment should mean nothing to him! That thought actually soothed him more than the reassurance that Boaz would address him by his correct title and his shoulders relaxed but only by a fraction. "I appreciate your cooperation as well, Boaz, forever and always. Anyone else that addresses me by the incorrect rank would be punished severely, but not you. Never you."

Because Buddingtonite played favorites, and though he wasn't sure that Boaz was one of his Lovelies, he was still quite a favorite of his. Reliable, smart, kind, patient... supplier of his meds. His meds. He needed those meds.

Tell him what he wants to hear and end it. End it quickly.

He almost missed Boaz's question, but he answered in due time, his gaze set towards the other end of the room and not at the doctor. He answered truthfully, despite the tantalizing suggestion, as he pondered why that spot in the corner seemed so... empty. "I've been alright, I suppose. It's so stressful being a General-King, you know. Running around, monitoring others, keeping the Lovelies in line, appeasing Serpentine's nagging. As for the medication helping..."

He wanted to lie. It would have been easy to lie. So easy...

"They're hard to ignore sometimes."
