The junkyard is located in downtown Nix City, and holds a wide bounty of trash loving Pokémon, shifty scavengers, and of course, junk. It may not look like much at first glance, but you would be surprised at what you can find here on a good day. The items found here can also be turned over to the artisan's on Techmech Street to forge gear, so be sure to look carefully!

Laram sincerely wished he had gloves as he sifted through the remnants of garbage left behind by the people of Nix City. After accidentally picking up his third used diaper, Laram decided to wait for Weird Al before continuing his search. Here and there, Laram caught glimpses fo movement in the trash as he waited. We'll have to keep an eye out while we're here. There's no telling what could attack us. As the sun reached its' highest point in the sky, Laram could see a figure hobbling towards them in the distance. After a minute,
Laram could make out the shuffling old man slowly making his way to the junkyard with the help of a metal walking stick. The trainer assumed that's what it was. It had so many things attached to it, it made him wonder.

"Good good. You made it in one piece. Start over there,
and bring me any discs you find. I don't care about anything else, so what you salvage is your's.
"
The old man waved in a particular direction and sat on a pile of trash. Laram realized that by "help"
the man meant for him to do all the work. But a job was a job, so Laram and his team began searching within the piles of junk in front of them. Rummaging through it reminded the trainer of his days as a street urchin,
scrounging through the trash for food, or anything that he could possibly sell.
They were hard days, but Laram felt like they were important. Without each and every one of those experiences, he might not be where he was at the moment; and he was so happy with where he was.

Jack pulled something from the debris and handed it to Laram. It was a busted up pair of sunglasses. Laram didn't really see any point in keeping them, but the little jackrabbit seemed a little excited about his discovery.
So the trainer thanked him and pocketed them. Thorn came to him with a battery, but it looked rechargeable, so Laram kept it. Other than that, Laram only found some weird looking springs, but they didn't look even slightly useful, so he just ignored them. After searching for about half an hour with no success, Laram turned to Weird Al.
"There doesn't seem to be any discs here. Are you sure this is where you lost it old man?" "Don't talk back to your elders. I told you this was the place. Now keep looking. Put your backs in to it." The trainer sighed, and returned to the rubble. He really wished he had brought some water too.

Laram chucked the trash in his hand at the movement he saw out of the corner of his eye. As far as he could tell, some Pokemon was stalking him, and he wanted to scare it off. It didn't take much, to no surprise. Scavengers weren't usually all that violent. The trainer sighed and looked at the layer of grime on his boots and pants. It was going to take some thorough washing to remove it. He was beginning to wonder if the money was going to be worth the hassle. Shadow had brought him screws,
and since he didn't want to hurt the frog's feelings, he put them in his pack along with the rest of the junk his team had found. Regardless of how annoying Weird Al's request was, his team seemed to be enjoying themselves. Even if they weren't really searching all that hard. Shadow,
Thorn, and Jack seemed to not be able to stop themselves from their sparring matches that sometimes got a little too intense for Laram's liking.
But, it was good for them, so Laram only intervened when they were close to hurting each other.

The trash fumes were starting to really get pungent as Laram continued to search for the item Weird Al had hired him to look for. The day was drawing near it's peak, and the shadows were almost gone. The trainer didn't feel like digging through garbage for the whole day, but money was money. Still,
he and his team had been digging all morning and he hadn't seen any sort of discs like the old man had said. Frustrated, Laram began searching in another pile. His team kept digging, but they were also coming up with nothing.
"Are you even sure it's here?"
Laram was finding it more and more difficult to keep his composure with Weird Al. Sorting through garbage for long periods of time would do that to a person. In that time, the only thing Laram found that was even remotely interesting was a bottle cap, so he put it in his pack. He was just about to give up when a shiny object caught his eye. He picked it from the mess and examined it. It was some sort of a disc alright, but there was no telling if it was the right one. Laram held the item up and walked over to Weird Al. "Is this what you're looking for?"
The old man snatched it out of Laram's hand with an agility contrary to his appearance. After carefully, meticulously searching the item over, Weird Al grunted in affirmation. Laram sighed, and put his hands on his knees. It was only then did he realize how laborious the job had been.
"This is it alright. Here's your pay, and a little something from me. You seem capable, you want to help me find something else?
I'll pay you again, of course.
"
Laram sighed again. "Yeah, fine." "Good. Follow me."

"The human mind is like a parachute...

This was an impossible task. Even if the actual garbage was all eaten by the local Grimers and Muks, the sheer amount of scrap and junk littering the junkyard made it impossible to even think about finding a single Old Disc among all of it. Nothing of interest had been found so far, and the trainer was quickly becoming demotivated. Nova was giving him a hand by digging through the scrap, but was coming up short as well. It wasn't for nothing, however, as the trainer still saw this as training to toughen up the lizard's claws. With their gym battle looming ever closer, training up his Charmander was at the top of Regal's priority list.

The duo ended up training for real, however, when they accidentally disturbed a wild Klefki that had been surveying the area for keys to add to its collection. Ticked off with the interruption, the steel type attacked and Regal took the chance to get some real battle experience for Nova. Just like the notes he had taken predicted, the Klefki attacked the two with classic steel type moves such as Metal Sound, Mirror Shot and even Flash Cannon. It was small and quick as well, so Regal decided try some of Nova's more technical attacks and finally trapped it with a powerful Fire Spin attack. Catching it in a Pokéball, the trainer praised his Charmander for a job well done and the two went back to their search.

He'd been at it for a while now, and Regal still didn't have much to show for his efforts. A dead battery, some busted glasses that looked like they could be repaired, and a set of springs that looked salvageable. But no disc. Nova was taking a break after its battle with the wild Klefki, so Terra was out helping him instead. The puppy Pokémon used its tough paws to dig through the heaps of scrap for items, but after the odd assortment from earlier, nothing of interest had turned up.

"It really is like trying to find a needle in a haystack." The trainer thought out loud. The item they were looking for was so small, that it didn't seem possible to find it without some way to track it easier. Terra knew how to track scents with Odor Sleuth, but Regal knew that it was pointless to try. The junkyard was so full of fumes from both the garbage and the Grimer and Muk eating said garbage, that the Rockruff would never be able to pick it out. He would need a different kind of plan. And if the problem in front of him was similar to finding a needle in a haystack...

"...Then I'll need to use a magnet."

He was definitely on the right track. Rather than search through the piles of scrap metal littering the junkyard, Regal had switched gears and begun searching the Murkrow nests scattered around the area instead. He knew the tricky birds couldn't resist collecting shiny valuables, so the odds of one of them scooping up an old disc was pretty good. He hadn't found one just yet, but his haul so far was still pretty good. A number of usable screws and springs, some light metal that would be easy enough to process, and even a few rare bottle caps. Not too shabby at all, considering that he was only on his second nest.

This plan wasn't without its faults, however. The wild Murkrow were predictably pissed off at having their nests looted, and while he may have been able to sift through the first nest undetected, the trainer wasn't so lucky the second time around and had to send out Icarus and Magnolia to subdue the angry bird that caught him digging through its nest. The Murkrow went down pretty easily between the two of them, but Regal knew that if they hadn't been quick enough on the draw that the bird Pokémon were more than capable of summoning flocks of their brethren to drive them out. They would need to be careful if they wanted to leave the junkyard in one piece.

It finally happened after the fourth nest. Distracted by the sight of the old disc he had been searching for all day, Regal hadn't been quick enough to spot the Murkrow whose home he was looting, and could only watch in horror as the bird Pokémon called out angrily for a flock of its friends to tear the trainer apart. It was as if day had switched to night. Everywhere he looked, all Regal could see was black. And all he could hear was cawing. ANGRY cawing. There was nowhere for him to run, so the trainer quickly released his team for battle. It was six against who knows how many, but Regal knew that if he could take enough of the dark types out, the others would scatter. At least, he hoped so.

"Terra, use Stone Edge! Regal barked. "Jarvis, Thundershock! Magnolia, use Dazzling Gleam!"

Taking the initiative with some super effective attacks, the trainer watched carefully as his team began striking down the flock surrounding them. As they attacked, he commanded the others to provide support, with Icarus whipping up a Tailwind to increase their speed while Padlock, his new Klefki, used its Crafty Shield to keep the Murkrow from hitting them with status attacks. Finally, Nova drove back any of the birds that got too close with controlled bursts of fire. It was a solid formation, and they were definitely doing damage, but for every Murkrow that went down, another three seemed to take its place. If he didn't think of something, Regal knew the team would be overwhelmed in no time.

I need to give them a proper show of force. He thought. An attack big enough to scare them all off for good.

Deciding to go for broke, Regal commanded Padlock and Magnolia to combine their Fairy Wind attacks, with Icarus assisting with Whirlwind for some added oomph. It took them three attempts before they finally got the timing down, but the results were worth it. The resulting gale was even bigger than he had expected, and Regal breathed a sigh of relief as the murderous flock finally decided to cut their losses and run. They had their fair share of scrapes and bruises, but all in all the team had managed to drive them off without any real injuries. Even better still, they had finally managed to secure Al's disc! With the trinket safely stowed away in his pocket, Regal finally said goodbye to the junkyard and hastily made his way back to the Pokémon Center for a much needed break.

"The human mind is like a parachute...

The sun was just beginning to set as Regal arrived at the junkyard. There hadn't been any more news about the thief since he and Matthias and left from Thunder Barbecue, so the trainer could only assume that they were still on the run. The junkyard seemed like a pretty good place for someone to hide, but he reminded himself not to get his hopes up. Releasing Icarus and Terra to help him look, Regal commanded the bird Pokémon to search overhead while he and his Rockruff investigated on foot. The pup had a pretty sharp nose, though the assortment of strange smelling objects and Pokémon were going to make the job a lot harder than it otherwise would have been. Still, it was better than nothing.

The three of them searched each area of the junkyard thoroughly, making sure to leave no stone unturned. There were a few moments where Regal was sure that he'd seen something in the corner of his eye, but aside from a few odd trinkets the trainer was coming up empty. Finally, almost a full hour later, Terra began to perk up as his nose finally caught a whiff of something unusual. As the two began following the source, Regal had Icarus scout the area ahead and was surprised to find the Pidgey locked in heated battle with a Koffing as he rounded the corner. What's more, there was a shifty looking guy with a bulky haversack shouting orders to the poison type.

"Poison Gas, Koffing!"

"Blow it away with Gust, Icarus!" Regal cried. The stranger cursed as the dangerous gas was blown away, leaving the two men and their Pokémon locking eyes with one another. Upon closer inspection, the guy looked to be around Regals own age, lean and lanky with stringy black hair that went halfway to his shoulders. He was wearing black jeans, soft soled sneakers and a plain grey hoody. He hadn't been accused of anything yet, but his mean looking eyes and unprompted snarl gave him away pretty easily. As Regals eyes drifted to the sack on his back, the other mans lips curled into a sneer at the unasked question.

"Yeah yeah, you found me fair and square." He snapped without a hint of remorse. "Doesn't count for much if I knock you out and make another break for it."

"Go ahead and try." Was the trainers response. "Even if you did manage to beat me, there isn't anywhere left for you to run."

"We'll see about that. Koffing, use Smokescreen!"

All at once the junkyard was full of thick black smoke. Regal saw it coming and covered his face with his sleeve to avoid inhaling the fumes, but quickly lost sight of his opponent. He wasn't worried, though. Because the smoke meant nothing to the Rockruff next to him. Needing no prompting from its trainer, Terra leapt into action and chased after the thief through the smoke, his Keen Eyes letting him follow him through the smog without any hinderance. Catching up quick, the puppy Pokémon sank his teeth into the sack resting on the thief's back, splitting it open and watching with a grin as its contents spilled onto the ground. Wads of money and shiny valuables covered the area, and as Regal rounded the corner with Icarus in tow, the thief cried out in outrage at his spoiled heist.

"That is IT!" He spat as he readied himself to fight. "You guys are dead meat!"

"The human mind is like a parachute...

Seeing that Regals Pokémon outnumbered him two to one, the thief sent out a wily looking Sneasel to join his Koffing in battle. He came on strong, commanding the two to use Ice Shard and Sludge Bomb respectively. Regal was undeterred by the projectile attacks, having Icarus use Steel Wing to shatter the ice and Terra use Double Team to avoid the sludge. With the ball in his court now, the trainer ordered his Rockruff to use Rock Slide to bury both opponents in a flurry of stones.

"Use Gyro Ball, Koffing!"

Recognizing the same technique used by Harvey earlier that day, Regal watched as the Koffing spun itself at rapid speed to blast its way through the rocks, emerging unscathed if a bit dizzy. The thief's Sneasel had managed to avoid the worst of the attack thanks to its partner shielding it, but had a few fresh scrapes from where shards of rock had grazed it. As Regals team advanced yet again to continue the fight, the thief decided to switch to extreme tactics and had his Koffing use Self Destruct, enveloping all four combatants in a powerful blast. Not expecting the sudden explosion, both Icarus and Terra were knocked unconscious along with the Sneasel. His ears ringing, Regal just barely registered a blur of white racing towards him as he snapped a Pokéball off his belt. He was too slow, however, and the trainer was knocked on his side and grimaced as he heard the cracking of the other capsules on his belt, instinctively knowing that the balls had been damaged to prevent him from summoning any more of his team into the fight.

"I was expecting you to fight dirty, but that was still pretty low." He muttered to the thief as he stood up and released Regis onto the field.

"That just sounds like sour grapes to me." The other man responded coldly. "Sticks and stones, man. You only have yourself to blame for expecting an honest battle. But it's not all bad." He remarked as his Zangoose eyed its leonine opponent. "You're still in the game. Not that I expect that overgrown pussycat to beat my Zangoose."

Then in you're in for a surprise. Regal thought as both Pokémon pounced. Fangs bared, the two clashed violently against one another with their claws. The Zangoose had more power behind its Crush Claw attacks, but the Luxios claws crackled with electricity as it swiped back with Night Slash, evening the playing field with its added strength. Once again faced with a greater obstacle than expected, the thief had his Zangoose surround Regis with Double Team before going in for a Poison Jab, only to curse loudly when Regal commanded it to fire off an indiscriminate Discharge attack. The surge of electricity dispersed all the afterimages at once, while also dealing a great amount of damage to the main body. His Zangoose was still standing, but the thief knew that it was time to cut his losses. He could faintly hear sirens in the distance anyways, which meant that he had already wasted enough time as it was.

"I guess you won this round after all." He called out to Regal as he tossed a Smoke Ball. "Just don't let it get to your head."

He was long gone by the time the smoke cleared, but Regal had successfully managed to recover the stolen money and goods, which was the most important thing. Officer Jenny arrived with Al and Matthias just as the trainer finished gathering up the loot, earning him praise from all three of them. Half of his team was exhausted and the other half were trapped inside their damaged Pokéballs, prompting Regal to entrust Al with repairing the damaged capsules while Officer Jenny escorted him back to the Pokémon Center to heal the others. He would meet with Al tomorrow to collect the rest of his team, as well as a small reward for his efforts. For now though, it was time to rest.
