Rider

Name: Vosin
Age: 25 Turns
Gender: Female
Rank: Wingsecond at Igen Weyr (past)
Appearance: Pic on left in brown
She has long, bright red hair that is held back in a braid; it usually rests over her left shoulder. Vosin as beryl green eyes. She is 5'5" with moderate curves. There's a light dusting of freckles across her cheeks and nose, and her nose is almost always slightly sunburned. She tends toward browns in her clothing.

Personality:
Vosin has always been a determined girl and a goal getter. You don't get if you don't try hard. She sets her goals, sometimes a bit too high, then strives to achieve them. Vosin may have a difficulty in admitting some goal is too hard for her to reach. She is also prone to having "eyes bigger than her stomach", and it often results with her biting off more than she can chew. Sometimes she needs to be told she's taken on more than she can handle alone. Another habit that can land her in the fires is her tendency to "leap before she looks". When a simple problem may really be complex, she may not realize it. Through it all though her twin is there to watch her back and pull her out of the fires when the situation needs it.

She carries a high sense of responsibility to her Weyr and Wing. Vosin will often go above and beyond the call of duty. If something needs to be done, she will go the extra mile to see that it is accomplished. She will willingly put in extra hours as needed. Sometimes she may forget others don't feel this way and commandeer someone to help her finish the task. Vosin firmly believes in leading a tight wing and will encourage her wingleader to trade out anyone who can't keep up par. She also understands the value of down time. The woman can be a bit randy in her personal life, but generally prefers one person over others; she has been known to get a bit wild in her off-duty time. Over all she tries to see the best in people in what they can do and who they are.

Vosin can get carried away or be controlled by her emotions or if she becomes super excited about something. She has plenty of enthusiasm during these times, but perhaps not a lot of sense. This tends to lead her toward rushing into things a bit unprepared. As usual its her twin who comes to her rescue. Being a wingsecond, Vosin has learned to make quick decisions; these may sometimes be hasty decisions. She may reach a decision before she has gained all the necessary information. One of these is her belief that she feels she doesn't understand non-weyrfolk. She feels awkward around them, and tends to cultivate an aloof image around them. The one person Vosin will always listen to and hear another side is Vesin. She is more likely to concede or make a compromise if the request comes from her twin. She values her siblings dearly. More so now that they are of their family left. The loss of her boyfriend to the past isn't something she feels she can indulge in right now.

History:
She was born at Benden Weyr with her twin. Her parents were V'ron of Brown Blakarth and Messelin of Green Mumunyeth. Messelin was Searched for a Queen Egg, but ended up Impressing to a green instead. Vosin and Vesin got into the normal amount of trouble for a couple of girls in the Weyr. When they were 5 their first brother was born, and at 13 a second brother came along. The girls were very happy to have more siblings to love and show around. The twins had a good relationship with their parents and their father supported them during their candidacy.

Two Turns later, the 15 Turn old twins got it into their heads that they wanted to see the world. Some say the whole idea was Vosin's. To accomplish this, they stowed away on a trader caravan. They didn't get far before discovery, however, and were returned promptly. They had to endure extra chores for months and even after their punishment ended the threat of not being allowed to stand the next clutch always loomed if they dare to put another toe out of line. For two years they treaded carefully and became a tad bit more responsible within the Weyr, and on that second year, at the age of 17, their lives changed drastically. A gold egg was proudly laid, and the girls knew they’d be allowed on the Sands. They knew that there was only one gold hatchling, and that one may Impress while the other didn’t. It was a risk they’d have to take and deal with after the hatching was over.

Vosin and her twin both managed to Impress at that clutch, which made them joyful. What put the tunnelsnake among the wherries was that both girls got a bronze. There was quite a bit of indignation among the watching weyrfolk and holders alike. Bad enough that one Impressed a bronze, but both? It was unheard of. Some holders felt their boy should have gotten the bronze, though there was nothing the weyrleaders could do about it. Some of the rejected candidates also felt sour about it, but they got over it in time.

Eighteen months later the bronzes were well grown and mature. They had passed all their classes and tests. Then came the hardest decision the twins had ever made in their lives. They had the full support of their parents which helped. In the end they chose to transfer to Igen Weyr for the better opportunities it provided to women bronzeriders. Leaving her family and friends was gut wrenching for Vosin, but she knew to follow her dreams to become all she could they needed to do this. Her desire to strive for the top kept her resolution strong.

The twins transferred and set up their new life late in their eighteenth Turn. They worked hard in the Turns following their transfer. Vosin was 20 when she first met a strapping greenrider. They hit it off well and quickly became close. Tiaeth flew the green more often than not. Though they were a pair, she showed him no favoritism during working hours. The young women were assigned as wingriders to Wing four. The twins dedicated themselves to become the best bronzeriders they could be.

Vosin worked hard to help her wing achieve their goals. She put in extra practice with drills or firestone, and helped anyone who asked it of her. Their dedication was noticed by others; specifically, the wingsecond of Wing 3. When he decided to retire he recommended the twins be promoted to fill his spot. It was decided to pair them together in the same wing as they balanced out each other so well. At 25 Turns the twins obtained their highest rank yet of wingseconds.

Several months after their promotion, the Weyrleaders were asked to the meeting with the Lord Holders. The twins were assigned to accompany them. They were ecstatic to be returning to Benden to visit with their family between meetings. Not long after the group of Igen arrived the twins met another female bronzerider by the name of Elane.

Vosin and Vesin were having breakfast with their family when the massacre started. Under her father's orders, Vosin gathered up her three siblings and got them out to the safety of their dragons. Outside she tried to help confused and panicked people until the Weyrmistress of Benden called to them. Feeling obligated to obey and help her, the twins gathered who they could and followed her between. Arrival was rough; Vos and Tiaeth were both tired. She pulled several muscles and dislocated her shoulder holding onto her passengers as the exhausted bronze made a rough landing.

Dragon
Name: Tiaeth
Age: 7 Turns
Colour: Bronze
Feel of voice: Tiaeth's voice is a soft hiss, like the rustle of grass or leaves in the breeze. There is always some sense of laughter within it, even when he is angry. Though a quiet, background feeling, it is a powerful one, and can be 'louder' or more noticeable than other dragons voices when competing with them for attention.
Appearance: Image

Personality:
Tiaeth is the calm and steady hand behind his rider. He reminds her that not all things need a rash decision. The bronze is assured that any outcome will be what they want, and all they need is time to eventually get them there. He is patient and doesn't try to rush to the outcome as his rider is prone to doing. When he can't slow Vosin down he gently points out her failings with a bit of humor. Laughter is indeed good for the soul and may make the lesson a little easier to swallow. Not that much seems to drag his down, but he likes a lively mood.

One thing that keeps conversations lively for him is gossip. This dragon loves to hear all the juicy or new gossip going around the Weyr. People, dragons, whers, and flits are all targets; nothing is safe from this nosy bronze. Unfortunately, a good rumor is likely to distract Tiaeth from the task at hand as he tries to find out more. His rider must firmly bring his mind to the duty at hand. Despite all that, he is a dragon that is very easy to please. It's the little things in life that he loves; his rider and her family, eating, and oiling. Tiaeth loves, loves his bathing and oiling. He will beg Vosin to continue just a little longer as he lays there with his eyes closed.

The bronze has no problems with speaking to others. Mainly that is Vesin or the younger brothers; once he gets to know others well he may speak to them directly. Tiaeth has a special name for when he speaks to both twins at the same time. Instead of saying Vosin and Vesin every time, he simply calls them 'Sins as the end of their names are the same. He prefers a single mate, but will participate in Flights.

Other: Prefers to share a weyr with his clutchmate Kelilayth
