Standing on the boundaries of where the north tundra becomes regular grass and tree's. Talus looks out at the land. She has no particular idea what she wants to do. Yet has this urge to go somewhere. Perhaps she will wander further inland. She will always remember the landmarks to where her den is after all. She could leave her mask behind if need be. Musing she walks forward. Paws silent upon the grass as she pads forward. Eyes glance around not focusing on any particular thing. It is in these moment's where her deepest thinking happen.

Nakoda Jaci knelt by the edge of the stream, sliding the mask off of his face to the side of him and facing the water. He looked at his tired reflection for a moment before reaching around to his medicine pouch and pulling out some more traveling herbs. He noted that he was running low on a few of his essentials and reminded himself to gather some before he headed off again, but as for now he latched the bag back up and chewed on the energy giving plants. He looked around making sure that the area was clear of any before he slipped his face in the water and swished it around, washing the traveling dust and sweat that had accumulated under his mask off before resurfacing and shaking his head to rid himself of excess water before slipping the mask back on, just in case any others came upon him. He silently thanked his ex pack for the Mask of Travelers, they had given him before he left, as it served three very useful purposes. The first purpose was intimidation, with the large fangs and layed back ears, the second was to identify him, as his own self carried none of the characteristics of his father's kind, and the third was safety. Were he to get in a fight the mask would protect his face from any and all damage that could be inflicted upon it, and perhaps it was one of the most useful purposes. He was hardly ever caught with it off

Talus had been meandering along a path that some travelers would use if they dared risk coming up to these parts. Memories of encounters with others flood her memory as she is well aware that she had met a small amount. Yet still one or two have crossed paths with her. Sight of a small rabbit catches her eye and she springs forward. Nails rake tiny grooves into the dirt as she chase's after the rabbit. It is only after a few minutes of this chase when she catches the scent of another. Wolf? No.. not quite.. Deer? No.. not that either.
Moving forward she lowers herself slightly. Her head down as she starts to creep towards the source of the new smell. Ears moving to catch any source of sound she comes upon the sight of a stallion with a large skull upon his hindquarters and what looks like a mask. Ones similar to her own? Mmmmm looks more bone like.. "Who are you stranger?"

Nakoda dipped his head to the wolf. He kept his ears back and his tail low, remembering the teachings of his father's pack. Submission would keep him from having an altercation with the rouge female, who, by her body language, seemed to be used to being alone and on her own and as he was probably encroaching on her territory, she was probably being fairly defensive at the moment. "My name is Nakoda Jaci. I apologize if I am trespassing on your territory." he said gallantly, keeping his eyes averted, unlike he would if he was meeting a normal azrein. He didn't want to show any sort of anger or provoke her in any way.

Talus watches the other's body language. His mannerisms are very wolf like. Yet he has hooves and looks very much like an azerin. After a while she relaxes as there is no sign that he is hostile or going to attack. Lifting her head, her ears twist around to listen to the sounds around them. Nothing drastic happening."This isn't my territory.. Mine is up further north..Mmm Nakota Jaci.. " Testing the name out she steps forward and is curious about his mask which resembles a wolf and then see's the cow head skull along his hindquarters. Interesting.. very interesting. "Talus." She doesn't explain that is her name, but lets him muse over what it could be. Circling him she inspects everything. This is a strange azerin.. She doesn't at all think he is a wolf. No features that implies such.

Nakoda relaxed his posture as she relaxed hers, though he kept his eyes wary in case she should rise up again. "Talus..... Is that your name?" He pondered it for a bit as she circled him, probably looking for any sign of a canine on him, like other packs had when visiting his father's. He held back a frustrated sigh. "You will not find any features of a wolf on me, though if you get close enough you can smell it on my blood. My father was a wolf, my mother normal, like me. My two of my litter mates took on my father's characteristics while I took on my mother's." He explained as he continued to watch her. "If your territory is farther north, then what brings you to travel?" He asked curiously.

Talus's eyes snap to the other as he asks the question. Rolling her eyes she steps closer and sniffs him." Yes, That's my name.. Seems like you also speak true on the wolf scent. " Stepping back she goes to where she is standing in front of him. Eyes not moving from where they are locked with his."Mmm.. Similar in a way. Mother was wolf. Father was Azerin.. Got a even amount of both though. Mmm I felt the urge to roam further. Just to see what was around. Why did you travel up here?"

Nakoda decided to choose his words carefully. "My father was the Alpha of his pack and I am not wolf, though I carry the blood. I was an outsider in my own family so I decided to roam." he answered. So they had something in common. Both were of mixed lineage. How interesting... though she seemed to have gotten the better end of hte stick... atleast from his point of view.

Talus listens and turns her head to sniff the wind. Nothing interesting. "Interesting. Well I am sorry about that. Though I never really knew my littermates.. They all passed away in the first week. Blizzard came and all. Was a tough winter." She pads over to the stream and licks at the water. After getting her fill she turns back to Nakoda.

Nakoda grinned. "So you truly are a winter wolf then. Those born in the cold grips of Mother Winter rarely survive. I was a spring pup, born at the cusp of winter's grasp." he said warmly, studying his new companion amicably. If he'd had a wolf's tail it would probably be wagging slowly and lazily as he spoke with her.

Talus nods her head."Yes I was.. My parents thought I would die too. Yet I didn't. Later when spring came and after my eyes opened I learned how to hunt and then they left. They weren't ones for packs either.. Or so I like to believe." Honestly she doesn't know herself what happened to her parents. One day they were there and the next gone..

Nakoda nodded. "I too have found pack life not to be for me... I thought it was at one point, but then my mate was stolen from me... by my own brother, and then my father cast me out of the pack. I left willingly enough but not before taking my prizes for my service as a warrior." He responded proudly.

Talus swishes her tail and looks at the other and starting to become bored. Her attention moves to a bird at one point."Mmmm.. tough life huh? Well can't say I am surprised. Part of the reason I don't like packs. Competition of it and having to submit." She pads over to a tree and starts to sharpen her nails. Can't have them become dull now can she?"Do you eat meat or grass?"

Nakoda could see that she was tiring of him. Perhaps it was time to take his leave. "I eat both, though have been more of a vegetarian now that hunting is hard without claws to catch it with." he gave a wry smile before dipping his head. "A pleasure it was to meet you, Talus. Perhaps we shall meet again?" He asked.

Talus nods and looks at him."I couldn't imagine not having claws.. Ah. Well then. Very well. Perhaps we will meet again. It was interesting speaking to you. One of my.. better encounters with others. Safe travels Nakoda Jaci."
