Even though Anxo wanted pretty much nothing to do with the land or those who dwelled there, his mother still lived there, and she deserved to meet her first (that he knew of, he hadn't talked to Dysmas for a while) grandchildren.
They bid goodbye to Mnemo and set out toward the surface. The girls were, of course, excited to go on a new adventure with him. The land-dweller carnival had been surprisingly kid-friendly, and Pax and Xoana had even won little fish pets in a game. The goldfish followed them around everywhere, but had to be penned up with Mnemo for this adventure. The fish wouldn't fare as well on land as they would!
Anxo pulled himself up onto the beach with quite a bit less struggle than ordinary Naiads would have. At least there was one advantage to being this way. He helped the girls out of the water, standing them upright and taking their hands for balance. At least they were both beautiful, ordinary Naiads. He re-fluffed their pigtails and scooped them into his arms. "Don't want to walk over the hot sand!" he exclaimed, cuddling them to his sides. He began to walk toward his mother's house, trying not to think about all the things this trip meant for him, and reminded him of. Reminded him that he wasn't, and would never be, normal. He'd made his choice early on to live full-time in the lake with his father, and it was a choice that had paid off, in the form of his beautiful mate and daughters. But he was still inextricably tied to the land, and it caused him no small amount of bitterness.
Before he knew it, they were at her door. He could probably just stride in and that would be okay, but he wanted to maintain some separation where he could. He knocked politely and set the girls down.

Trager had picked up a brightly colored vase in her most recent trip to the trading post, shopping was essentially what consumed the female now that her children were grown and her relationship with their father had withered away into nothing-ness. It wasn't often she actually got to bring things home considering she didn't have too many means to barter with, but she enjoyed looking at the different things. Anyways... she was testing out the vase in different places when she hard the knock on the door. Trager squinted her eyes as she steadied the vase while attempting to do the math. If that was Sweetie Drops... she barely would have had time to eat in the tree before turning back around in order to be here right now. Trager supposed it was possible, so with a shrug she went to the door to answer it. "Oh Anxo!" If she had been holding her vase still, she would have dropped it in her surprise. "You should have just come on in, this is your home too!" She held open her arms to hug her son. Her gaze fell downward on the two girls who were next to him. Trager couldn't help but squeal. "Oh my goodness, who are these beautiful ladies?!" Trager clasped her hand over her heart. As she moved away from the doorway to let them in. When Dysmas heard the knock his first thought was also Sweetie Drops, however he was not in the same logical mindset that his mother was in, that it was too soon for her to be back. For Dysmas there was no such thing as too soon. The boy was completely twitterpated with Sweetie at the moment, and it had sort of grounded him as far as spending time in the water. He had always leaned more towards the water and it was his greatest desire to be truly a naiad... but now that his heart was anchored to land it was a different story. The door was already open when he poked his head out of his room, "Anxo?" He sounded equally bewildered and happy to see the brother he had not seen since they were much younger. With a happy laugh, Dysmas emerged from his room the rest of the way to greet his brother. "Wow, long time no see!"

His mother had reacted pretty much how he'd expected her to. And he was glad he'd brought the girls. She deserved to know her grandchildren. She deserved to know what he'd been up to. Guilt and resentment warred in his heart. But he chuckled and scratched the back of his neck. "This is Pax, and this is Xoana," he introduced the girls in turn. "They're my daughters." He shuffled into the house, ushering Pax and Xoana with him. They both clung to his legs, unsure about the strangers.
Just then Dysmas had emerged. "H-hey, Dysmas!" he exclaimed with a hearty smile. This was awkward. Why did Dysmas still live here? He'd dreamed of living full-time in the water, just like Anxo. What had changed? "Good to see you! I, er, didn't expect to see you here! How've you been?"Wolfs Heart Welp I totally forgot about this RP. >> Sorry! heart

Trager could fairly easily have assumed that the young girls were Anxo's daughters, but hearing him say it was a completely different thing. Her heart was filled with joy and broken at the same time. There was so much she didn't know about her son now that he was grown, and yet... grandbabies! "Hello Pax and Xoana," Trager spoke in a whisper and leaning down to their height, realizing that they were acting shy. "I am your grandma." She looked up at Anxo, hoping that it was something that was ok for her to say to them. He stopped by with them, it had to be okay. Dysmas' eyes widened upon overhearing the conversation about the girls being his daughters. He could hear it in his brother's voice too when he was addressed. He was still living at home with his mother, and Anxo had moved out so long ago and now had kids too. Dysmas felt left behind in the dust. His voice sounded insecure now as he spoke, "Yeah, I was actually just talking about moving out... I just have to get some things figured out." It was completely true, although it was also probably something he should have figured out a long time ago. "They... are naiad..." his heart panged with jealousy. He had always wish he might have been full naiad instead of whatever he was. Dysmas avoided looking at Trager after he had said this.

Anxo smiled a little as he heard the girls each whisper "hi" to their grandmother. "I'm sorry," he said with a little shrug. "They're still a little uneasy around new people. Mnemo--my mate--she's also very shy. Maybe one day I'll rub off on them a little more and they'll be more outgoing." He bent down and ruffled each of their heads, chuckling. Gods and little fishes, it was awkward just standing here in the doorway.
He looked up at Dysmas as he spoke. There--he'd heard it. That same wistfulness Anxo himself felt. "Yes," he agreed with a nod. "Just like their beautiful mother." He paused for a moment. "You're welcome to come visit, you know..."Xoana marveled at this new person. She understood what "grandma" meant. Grandma K was her grandma, and grandmas were nice to have. But this other person....who was he? "Up!" she exclaimed at Papa, reaching her arms toward him. When he picked her up, she fixed this other person with her gaze. He looked like Papa, but...at the same time, didn't. She looked back and forth between them for a moment. Grown-ups were weird. She wiggled until Papa put her down again, then whispered this fact to Pax. They both giggled, then grabbed hold of Papa's legs again.

Trager's face lit up as the girls said hello, "Adorable. They are perfect, congratulations Anxo." Trager said as she stood back up, "Come in, and sit down if you'd like." She invited them. Trager had so many questions about what was going on in Anxo's life, but she was also fearful about prying too. "Oh... where are you living now? Alu Springs?" Dysmas questioned, it would make sense considering he had a naiad mate too. Dysmas had thought his life would look very much like what his brothers life was seeming to look like. Living full time in the water, a naiad by his side. Everything had changed when he met Sweetie Drops. He wouldn't sacrifice that for the life his brother had, but it certainly was interesting seeing where they were at comparatively. "They look so much like we did... only you know... more feminine and fishy." Dysmas chuckled.

Anxo beamed. He was the proud papa. "Thank you," he replied. His daughters were perfect, it was true. He wouldn't change a thing about them. He moved into the front room and sat down in the easy chair, pulling the girls into his lap. They were much heavier on land than underwater!
"Yeah, Alu Springs," he answered, nodding. "Not too far from Nana. Mnemo likes to be away from the hustle and bustle of the palace as well. The two of them are of a spirit." Anxo looked around. "How about you?" he asked. "Where have you landed?" Landed. He almost chuckled. He would never have thought his brother would be an adult living on land full-time. How they'd dreamed of the water together! He wondered if Dysmas had met someone. That might be it--sometimes you had to give up your dreams for new ones to take their place.Xoana took a minute to cuddle with Papa. She peered at the others from the safety of his arms for a while, but eventually she got bored and climbed down from his lap. She explored the room, testing out her legs, only toppling a few times. Nothing interesting on her level. She walked up to the new Grandma and climbed into her lap. Grandmas were nice to have, but how could she be sure this one was a real grandma? Time to test it out.
