Name:
Seragee
Age: 13
Gender: male
Rank: Candidate
Appearance:
Ref

Seragee is still short for his age. When he does hit his growth spurt he will reach 4'10". He has light grey eyes and fair skin. His medium brown hair is mostly short with a small pony tail at the nape of his neck. Young as he is, his voice hasn't broken yet and it is still near a soprano.

Personality:
Seragee is a young bright boy. He is highly intelligent for his age and actively seeks out puzzles to challenge himself with. He never tries to flaunt his brains or prove he's smarter than everyone else or show off. That's not what brains are meant to be used for. He wants to be able to help solve the problems of his world. How to keep places sanitary, or provide running water, or breed enough food for the dragons are the kind of challenges he looks for. His brains give him a quick incisive power. Seragee is quick to understand, analyze, and act if the situation calls for it. Otherwise he would prefer to take his time to look everything over and decide which course of action will help the best.

His hobbies include woodworking and using math to figure out angles and shapes for whatever he happens to be designing. Seragee prefers those who can understand when he starts talking sophisticated babble for friends. That doesn't mean he doesn't make friends with muscle bound kids, he just has to remember to dumb his words down for them. Seragee also enjoys games of strategy; either playing against a better opponent or teaching someone not as good as himself. The young man wants to do good, make a positive mark on the world and those around him.

Occasionally, he gets too big for his britches. His paternalistic side will come out when he feels his answers are absolutely correct. When this occurs, Seragee will try to convince whoever is around to do the chore or task his way. If his comrades refuse to do things his way he reacts badly by trying to boss or bully them into doing it his way. He means well, but sometimes can't see the answer from another's point of view. Once he has made up his mind to do something his way, he sticks to his choice no matter what. His steely determination can often get him into trouble if he happens to be wrong. On the occasions he cannot convince anyone to do things his way he'll try doing it alone just to prove he's right. He's afraid that someday he will be wrong and that his choice may cause harm to someone or a friend. To prevent just such a thing he'll double check his numbers. His fears that he tries to keep hidden beneath a confident exterior. For animals he particularly dislikes trundel bugs and tunnel snakes.

Much like any youngster Seragee is by nature messy. Clothing and everything else will get dropped on the floor or tossed haphazardly anywhere. He'll only clean if forced to, and then it'll be as little as he can get away with. Cleaning is really not one of his strong suits. Seragee is one of those kids who needs to see something to believe it. He does not believe in any sort of "higher powers". That being said he has had a difficult time believing they have jumped 500 Turns into the future. He was hit hard by the time jump and took a bit longer than others to recover. At first he couldn't believe his eyes as he saw the size difference in the dragons even though he was seriously impressed.

The other hard fact to face is the differences in society and rolls of the dragonriders. Seragee was fairly upset when he was told that he wouldn't be able to stand until he'd trained and then done a Turn as a squire. It is still slowly sinking in. He feels he has a good teacher in C'tis, but has been somewhat contrary in learning to fight. Seragee believes he'll never need to know how to fight given what he wants to do, even if he does impress a dragon. C'tis' in the end convinced him it was this way or the high way. He came out of his training slightly buffer than when he went in.

The young boy is on the fence about the outcome of the recent gold flight. He has never heard of a time when a blue has managed to fly a gold. Even if he'd been allowed to stand for the clutch, he's not sure he'd want to as he isn't sure what kind of clutch a blue can sire. Despite his doubts, it didn't really matter as no young dragon came for him.

History:
Much like any weyrbrat, Seragee was born at Benden Weyr. His parents often had duties that left him at the creche. His father was a wherhandler and his mother a baker for the weyr. He enjoyed his time in the creche and the friends he made there. When he wasn't at the creche, he tended to spend a considerable amount of time around the adults. Often the young boy would volunteer his help anyway he could. He showed interest in things the adults were doing and asked intelligent questions.

Soon enough he came to the attention of the right people. They insured he received extra tutoring when he showed interest and aptitude in learning and problem solving. Seragee was looking forward to becoming a candidate and maybe eventually a rider. By the time he turned 12, he was already helping out in small way. He was delighted to stand for his first dragon clutch. Alas he walked away disappointed without a dragon. Even though he didn't have a dragon when he saw Lamira having trouble he took it upon himself to help her. He offered what pointers on dragon care that he'd gathered and his friendship.

He'd been standing for a Turn when the weyrleaders gathered at Benden. Seragee was proud his weyr had the privilege to host the discussions. In the end it turned out not to be so great. As the massacres started, the young teen ran outside. A red-headed woman directed him a dragon waiting nearby. He climbed up on the bronze he later learned belonged to Ra'fe. It was a rough trip through time for him. He passed out almost as soon as the group appeared above High Reaches Weyr. When he came to, Seragee didn't believe what they tried to tell him. In fact he was in active denial even as he stared at the giant dragons. Enough repetition finally knocked the truth into his head.

It wasn't easy to adjust to the new culture. Seragee found himself placed with a foster family. One disappointing fact was that he was no longer a candidate in the sense he knew. He was having to go through an odd training, and rumors abounded that afterwards he would have a Turn of being a squire before being allowed to stand. It was something he grumbled about whenever he could. The physical training hasn't been too tough. Seragee views it as like the training for his mind he does, except its his body. The young boy was pleased when C'tis of blue Malcarreth picked him out as a squire. He makes a funny scene as he's so short compared to the experienced rider.

Evmeth's flight was a bit of a surprise, particularly her chosen winner. Seragee was incredibly proud that his squiremaster won the flight with a blue no less. However, that didn't help his trepidation as what kind of clutch a blue could possible sire. He watched the hatching from the Stands and was pleasantly surprised by the two bronzes and single brown. Unfortunately, no dragon came forward to claim him from the sands. Now it is Sereth's turn to clutch. C'tis has been pushing him hard to learn all he needs to know to ensure he is ready to stand now. Seragee is slightly relieved at the smaller dragons to be laid. He has high hopes that he might impress to one of the dragons hatched from the smaller time clutch.

Hiya!

Seragee looks super-promising, but we’d just like to hear a little more about what makes him special - what are his passions? What makes him really excited? (and conversely, what’s he afraid of?) Does he have any particular quirks? Is there anything particularly heroic about him? How does he feel about learning to fight? What sort of friends does he have - or people does he like? Is he particularly attracted to people who challenge him, or who reinforce his bad habits? Does he have bad habits? What doesn’t he like about himself? What sort of moral compass does he have?

Looking forward to approving him!
