NCTS Results:
4 Laps to go, Mark Martin on the inside, Todd Bodine on the outside, and 2 lapped trucks also side-by-side in front of them. Bodine found the gap between the slower trucks on the entrance of turn 2 and GUNNED IT. Martin found the gap between the apron and the inside truck and GUNNED IT.
4 WIDE IN TURN 2!
Todd nearly brushed the inside traffic, goes up top, slapped the left side of Timothy Peters #4, Bodine goes sideways, corrects it, and hammer-down INTO THE LEAD on the backstretch. Mark did nearly the same thing with the truck he tried to get around (Boston Reid), only he filed into 2nd. Then in Turn 3, Timothy Peters blows his left-rear tire from damaged sustained by Bodine brushing him.
GREEN-WHITE-CHECKER AGAIN!
On the restart, Martin ducked down on the inside of Bodine, so they could race side-by-side for 2 more laps. Only this time, the unlikeliest of heroes would emerge ducked close behind both of their trucks... JOHNNY BENSON?! (Insert either "FTW?" or "O RLY?!" here)
Hard-charging towards the leaders, Benson takes Martin's line and chases them down. Bodine, up top, took the white flag with the lead by only a small fraction of a second, similar to the closest ever finish in Craftsman Truck Series history. Off turn 2, Martin wiggled, getting too aggressive on Bodine, and Todd Bodine TAKES OFF IN A HURRY!
TODD BODINE BREAKS THE MARK MARTIN SHOW STREAK AND WINS THE JOHN DEERE 200!
Big wreck off turns 3 and 4 before the end of it smashed up several trucks. Mark Martin BARELY held off Johnny Benson for 2nd, Jon Wood driving the #21, which is really the 2nd #20 chassis, finished 4th to get Jack Roush some owners points on a new number. As well, Ted Musgrave finished 5th, for his 3rd straight top 5 this year.
