"Masaru is out visiting a family." Elah said with a smile as she breezed about the spotless kitchen, her gold jewellery jangling and her ornate sari swishing as she walked. "The grandfather passed in his sleep, they want him to read some rites before they sit the vigil tonight." She picked up the kettle with her left hand as her right cradled a small baby girl to her chest. The child seemed unconcerned by the jangling, swishing and all her talking as it slept happily. She poured out the tea and placed the cups on a tray.
"It's quite nice to have to attend to family with an elderly person who passed in their sleep. We've seen so many pass before their time." She picked the tray up with her free hand and carried it through to the sparsely furnished living room. They had only moved in recently and had only been able to furnish it with what they had in their tent.

Nao listened to Elah as she moved about and spoke. She liked spending time with her. She was so full of life. It was a nice contrast to her own life which was so often full of death and solitude.
"I agree," she smiled and fought back the urge to help her with the tea tray. She knew she'd get fussed at from experience. She was a guest and a guest was not expected to serve themselves within Elah's home. Smiling at that thought, she looked to the sleeping baby in her mother's arms. "I am glad he was able to go. I imagine they will find a lot of comfort from his prayers."

Elah placed the tray down on the low table and lowered herself onto a floor cushion, shifting baby Maria to the crook of her arm. She placed one of the cups of tea near Naomi and a plate of cake she had baked the night before.
"I hope so. Masa has such a calming energy." She picked her cake slice up and took a bite.
"So, is anything new with you? I've noticed a lot more shops are popping up around you. There's some fabulous goldsmiths. I'm not supposed to go near them." She grinned cheekily, she loved her gold jewellery. Some of it she had managed to save when she fled her home, some she had been given by people she had helped and some her husband had bought her.

Nao laughed and reached for a slice of cake for herself.
"I will have to keep a close eye on you when you come to visit," she smirked and took a small bite. It was divine of course. Elah had a gift in the kitchen.

"I had a surprising visit from the young God of Funerals. He's no longer a child but a young man now," she smirked a little. "They seem to be lucky and able to skip all the horrors of having to grow up."

Elah raised an eyebrow as she said she had been visited once again by the God of Funeral. She had seen some of the other gods, but never Funeral, even thought Naomi had told her about him.
"Oh, wow, that's interesting. You'd think they wouldn't be in such a rush as they have forever." She looked down at her daughter. "I don't think I'd be too happy if Maria suddenly turned into an adult. I'm looking forward to the growing up. Even if she becomes an unholy terror. Was it just a social visit?" Did gods make social visits?

Nao laughed softly and nodded in agreement.
"You would think that, though it suited him. He's very sweet, but has a serious side. Possibly because of his domain," she smiled and set her cake slice down. "We did have a good visit though. I enjoy talking with him. He's very passionate and compassionate about who he is and what he does. The purpose of his visit was a little deeper than a purely social one though. He has decided he's going to build a city for the dead. A necropolis. We spent the entire afternoon discussing everything he wants and everything that he would need. It was exciting."

Elah smirked and took another bite of cake.
"Like Masa. Serious but not really." She smiled as her friend spoke of her afternoon talking shop with a god. She really wished she would get out a bit more. Elah didn't really have a choice but to socialise thanks to the nature of her and her husband's jobs. But Naomi spoke to the dead most of the time.
"A Necropolis? That's a tall order."

Nao nodded in agreement about Elah's comparison between the god and the priest. They were rather similar in disposition.
"It is a tall order," she nodded once more. "And it's funny that you mention the similarities between Masaru and Isidore. I mentioned the both of you to him. He is very interested in meeting you both. He wants to get your perspectives on the parts of the funeral services you provide," she smiled broadly with a bit of excitement.

Elah raised an eyebrow at that. A god wanted to meet with them. It was both a humbling and flattering thought.
"Well, I'd have to talk to Masa about it but I don't see any reason why he wouldn't want to meet with the god of Funeral. It's what we do after all." She picked her cup of tea up and smiled. "The three of us organise most of the ones around here."

Nao smiled broadly and nodded in agreement.
"Very true. It's really exciting to think that we could be a part of something pretty huge, isn't it?" It was such a change from her life before. Her family had been a necessary evil that nobody wanted to acknowledge. They had been lower than the low because they physically handled the dead. To think that what she actually did could be revered as something beautiful in the eyes of others was very tantalizing. "You both will really like Isidore as well. He is very sweet."

ELah could see her friend's excitement, it was good to see her animated about something. And it was true, they could be part of something bigger than the micro world they lived in. Her and Masaru were respected, though they weren't ever invited round for dinner with a family or tea and cake. They signified death and that was not something that people wanted to think about.
"Good, I like sweet people. You have to be quite personable when it comes to funerals."

"Well, I don't know about all of that. My clientele don't mind all that much if you've had a bad day," Nao smirked and lifted her tea to take a sip. "But that is why I thought of you both. Masa provides the spiritual comfort and you provide the emotional. When do you think you would like to meet him? I know you have to talk to Masa, but let's be real, you know he will want to meet him."
