This is actually my first time Lping any kind of game, and I want to make this as fun as possible. So I hope everyone here enjoys it!
Chapter 1: The start of a fresh new adventure!

Ahh! I absolutely love this intro sequence. It's like the coolest NES opening of a game I've seen to be completely honest. The way it starts off a little silent then it draws you in by getting louder. It gives you a feeling that this is going to be a great adventure. The music in general for this game is excellent, even though the score is surprisingly not composed by Koji Kondo this time around.
So for those that don’t know much about Zelda 2, it’s very much a direct sequel to the original Zelda game. Impa, Zelda’s Guardian, tells Link that Princess Zelda was put on a sleeping spell by Ganon. He was thought to have been destroyed by Link many years ago. But he’s is no longer a young boy anymore, but instead Link has grown up to become a young man. So, It’s up to him to journey off through the world of Hyrule by going through six different palaces to place a crystal. Only then by doing so, the seal protecting the Great Palace will be broken. He’ll gain the triforce of courage and save Princess Zelda from Ganon’s sleeping spell. However, each of the palaces are guarded heavily by ferocious monsters sent by Ganon. If Link fails, Ganon comes back to life and that’s the end of Hyrule. And, that’s pretty much the gist of it.
Here I make a new file and I’ll name the hero Rhyus. I mean why not?

And we’re inside Hyrule Castle. As you can see Zelda is asleep in the background there. Oh right, just as a little heads up, every time Link loses all his lives he’ll have to start all the way back here again. The only exception is with the Great Palace which is courtesy enough to start you at the entrance. It’s very tedious as I do admit, but nothing is ever
easy.

Anyways, it’s time for us to venture off into the world of Hyrule! Any place besides the road has monsters roaming around for random battles. There are three kinds of sprites in the over world. The blobs tend to be the weakest type of monsters, the demon looking one which are usually pretty challenging and some of the monsters in that group can be very annoying. And last but not least, the fairy sprite. Obviously they’re certainly not monsters, but if you manage to run into them they’ll restore your life completely which can seriously save your butt in certain situations.
In that sense, it does have an RPG formula about it. Actually, Zelda 2 is the only game in the Zelda series( of the ones I’ve played thus far) that does this. I’ve often seen people confuse the Zelda games as a role playing game genre. I personally don’t think they are, but I do understand where people are coming from. Sure, we’ve got exploration and you have to find things, but you don’t really feel like you’re getting stronger with experience. It’s all about the adventure and looking for secrets. Though, we’re getting a bit off track here~

So we should go north of the castle, or the palace if you will. We’ll eventually run into a forest square not too far away. It’s a great place to start off because you’ll get an easy 50 exp p bag there. And no don’t ask what the P for P bag stands for or what’s even in there. It’s best to call It the power bag since I’ve always called it that and makes sense to me!

But I was a little lucky here. Upon killing a bat, I managed to get a free exp bag drop from it. I’m not entirely sure how often that happens.. But yes, we’ll need these bags to gain experience. That’s just how this game works, you’ll either get Hp, Attack Strength, or Magic. So, our life goes up by one level! I grab the other exp bag and exit this dark and spooky forest.

It's a good idea to head down south to the nearest town called by the name of Rauru.
If that name sounds familiar for those that know of Ocarina of Time, you might recognize it to be the same name as the Light Sage. Funny enough, there's a ton of references used from this game carried over to ocarina of time.
Now, it's pointless talking to most of the towns folk for the most part. Sometimes they are helpful, like they’ll give out certain clues or directions about going a certain place, but it’s done very inconsistently and more often than not they’re kind of useless.

Their dialogue consists of Hello! or Nice day! Or something generic like that. You'll usually want to go to towns to heal up HP, Magic, or get special abilities upon doing various tasks.

This is the lady you go to restore health, and for some reason brings you inside her house but we can't really tell what's happening in there. But I think everyone has a good idea what kind of treatment Link is getting. wink Remember this isn’t little boy Link anymore, he’s grown up learning all kinds of techniques.
There's usually an old lady who restores magic too, but she's not here so I'll show it off in the next town!

We need to find a girl carrying a jar on top of her head. Usually she comes out of a house which isn't too difficult to spot.
She'll say "Talk with my father before you leave town." It's very important to stop by those places in towns. The reason being her father is actually a magician, or I guess a wiseman who'll teach you all sorts of handy spells in general. There's one in every town for the most part. Sometimes you'll have different things in order to get inside, but I’ll explain more about that at some point later in the game. This one is the easiest to do because it requires nothing.

Go all the way to the end, and you'll see an old geezer cloaked in a red robe attire just standing there. He gives us our very first spell, which is Shield! It may seem kind of costly right now, but as you level up and grow it'll cost less in due time.
The same pretty much goes for most spells you gain at the beginning. But this spell always handy to have around. Think of it like protection armor, but It'll reduce damage you take from enemies.
Now time to say our farewells to Rauru. There's a cave located on a desert area to the north. Inside it's completely dark and you can't see anything. So we have to skip it until we take care of the first palace. I actually made a little blunder and entered it so I lost a life and got a bit injured. You certainly do not want to go here yet until we get the thing we need inside the first palace. We've got two lives remaining at this point, so I might as well rest up at Rauru.
Chapter 2: To defeat a horsehead

We need to head inside the cave to the northwest. You'll see forests along the way leading to it. the cave will be dark, but it’s not too much of a problem.
It's not too hard to spot the monster’s silhouette in the dark. Now, the 1st palace should be very close.

Aw yeah, this is like the coolest dungeon theme ever! It’s no wonder they remade this theme in smash bros melee and brawl. This is actually not too difficult a dungeon really. I'd say it's around the 3rd one when it starts to get a bit more difficult.

We'll take the elevator down. I've always thought these guys looked silly when they run, but wow… What is really going on here now? But seriously, do watch out for these types because they can take away some health and exp away from you.
We'll go to the left to grab a key. And keep going to the right to use the key to open that locked door. A skeleton draws near!

Upon defeating the skeleton warrior, I got 30 exp and a level up in magic!
So using shield should be less costly a bit compared to before now.

There's a fairy that heals wounds at far right end, so I go for the healz. In every Palace, there is generally one lurking around so always try and make use of them in dire situations. They disappear once after getting aid from them and that’s it.

It's a good idea to avoid the poe monsters because one, they drain magic plus they'll take forever to beat at the current attack level. Also, I snagged a poe glitching to the ceiling. It’s a magnetized poe ghost!
I go back to the left and take the elevator down. There's a ton of poe ghosts in here, and I managed to avoid those. Their patterns aren't too difficult to figure out. They’re usually a pain to encounter because they steal magic from you and health which really can suck.

We come across a bridge which will disappear at each step behind us. There's no time to stop, but I did grab an exp bag at the last moment. I was a little aways from a level up in life/ So a key is required for the next room, so it’s best we’d come back to it later on.
We have to take the elevator all the way to the right but upwards instead of down. We'll eventually find about two keys. One key is easily attainable resting on the top of steps along the way, but the other is guarded by a cyclops that throws fireballs, but they're not really all that difficult once you get the timing right.

You'll want to move in front and keep striking them until they're down. Oh yes, sometimes these statues will drop potions which will recover your Mp completely. It's never a bad idea to try hitting these sometimes. It's time to go back to where we came from before and open that locked door for a cool item.

Now, meet the Iron Knuckle! They’re pretty much the Darknuts from the original Zelda game.( I suppose Darknuts didn’t sound tough enough) It’s nice that they return again in future games. I find the best trick to taking him down is by jump attacking him but being cautious at the same time. Their weak spot is their heads, and the timing can be a little tricky pulling off, but eventually they won’t be so tough especially once your attack strength gets better.

But unfortunately I got a game over, so that's one death so far. Also, I forgot to mention that once you lose all of your lives, it doesn't start you back to the beginning of the palace so we have to go all the way back again. But at least it’s not too far.

So here I am back again in one piece, and lookie what I got here. It’s the candle! This item has the power to light up any dark cave. Though I did lose a life in the process of trying to grab it. Now we need to go to the other elevator and take it down instead of up.

At some point we'll run into horsehead, our very first boss. He's not particularly hard and honestly he’s one of the easiest bosses of the entire game.
Although, I have been damaged quite a bit so let's see how we'll fare against him at this condition. If you have enough to cast shield and have full HP, then you should be totally fine against him. His lower body is covered with armor so hitting him there is obviously useless. The way to kill him is to hit his head constantly while avoid the swing of his spiked club. It’s almost as like Headbashing has become a thing in this game hasn’t it?

How mighty the horsehead has fallen. See, he's not that tough eh? We get a key to open the looked door and place a crystal and gain another level up! Oh and we get our health and magic points restored as a gift which is nice.
And that's pretty much the end of the first palace. Like I said, he's fairly easy once you know what to do.
Now one thing left to do before we leave this area. There's a heartcontainer to the south of the palace so why don't we grab it? I mean, we’re already here right?
You'll notice the enemies here are bubbles. Apparently Link is afraid of bubbles… ******** BUBBLES!

Anyways, the space right in the middle of the forest is where the heart container located.

There are some Gorya enemies with boomerangs. They’ve always seemed like anthropomorphic warrior dogs to me. Yes, they even carry DOGERANGS with them!
*ahem* I think they are called the Goryas aren’t they? If not I apologize about any errors I possibly made. But they're not really difficult enemies to face. You could pretty much take the heart and leave the place if you wanted to.

We'll head back over to the desert cave I mentioned in the back in the beginning.

Now, thanks to the candle the cave is now lit so we should be aware of the enemies presence. Let there be light!
It's very important to go here first because a red gorya bandit stole a trophy from this lady in the town of Ruto. Yet, another reference to the princess of the Zora tribe Ruto right?
This one is slightly tougher than the ordinary blue ones, so to be on the safe side, so casting shield might be handy here.

Alright, we’ve got the trophy!

Let’s get out of this cave and move on to Ruto. We should leave the desert and just follow the path to our left. Whoa, there’s a lot of mountains surrounding this place isn’t there?

Now that we're in town, I head to heal up. Rhyus is sure exhausted from all this traveling, but it’s only the beginning of his adventure.

And here I can show the magic lady. Do you believe in magic! Her sprite is lighter than the usual elderly lady sprites actually. I’ve never really understood why that is… But, she'll heal up your magic power when you're in trouble. But we need to keep going...

Let's check out some houses while we're here. Oh, this is the legendary I AM ERROR man. You just gotta love this guy.

Anyways, so we talk to this lady and we'll go see her uncle for a brand new spell! We get jump as the name suggests, this spell allows us to jump higher than normal. It'll certainly become useful for those hard to reach places.
I’ll stop here for now. More LP episodes will come later~
