Racket was wandering around, exploring what was new in the forest today. There wasn't much, but he still visited regularly, in case something did change.
Racket laughed as he went, to hear the sound come back to him off the trees and the rocks. He was getting to where the trees were big enough that he could walk across their branches instead of on the ground. When he found branches strong enough to support him, he climbed the tree and balances across it.
He jumped from branch to branch in a way that many expect to be limited to birds.

The great golden eagle that was Marahute sat beneath one of the large trees, watching the forest floor for any signs of scurrying mice. She was used to the silence that surrounded her, as few sought her out. And who could blame them? It wasn't as if she was able to speak to them the same way that they spoke to her. And none made an attempt to learn her language.
She put the thought away, intent on catching her breakfast. There! The mouse moved a little too far from the safety of the dead leaves on the ground. With swiftness that was unexpected from one her size, she grabbed the little morsel with her mouth and swallowed. She let out a cry of triumph and settled back into her resting position, curling her head back under her wing for a nap.

Racket watched through the canopy as the gilded eagle caught her mouse and ate it. Eugh. Well... He smiled broadly, wickedly.
He began to hunt for himself. he caught mouse after mouse and kept them in a cage quickly fashioned from branches and vines. Then, he climbed a tree adjacent to the one over the eagle and branchwalked until he was above her.
Finally, he released the mice so they fell on top of her. They were so light that they bounced right off her feathers.
Racket laughed so hard he fell out of the tree.

Marahute squawked as the mice fell on her. She ruffled her wings and shook to get them out of her hair. Her attention was quickly drawn to the pony who fell out of the tree. Her soft eyes hardened. Did he think that just because she couldn't talk she was dumb? The idea angered her and she charged at the white male, rearing up and flapping her wings at him, stirring up the dead leaves on the forest floor with her fury.
"Squaw-eek Eek Eek! Kyah!" Her mouth snapped together dangerously fast at the end of each noise, making a sharp clacking noise. Marahute's golden wings folded back into her sides as she came back down on all four hooves. Content that she had made her distaste known, she snorted and stared at this strange, bright white male.

Racket yelped when Marahute charged him and he covered his head. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he repeated.
He said it because it was what people wanted to hear. He said it because he was sorry for himself being in his situation. He said it because he didn't want people to dislike him. But he would have pulled the prank again.
When Marahute stepped back to scrutinize him with her sharp eyes, Racket peeked up at her. She hadn't spoken to him, and normally people, after being pranked by him, yelled at him a lot and called him things.
"I'm Racket," he said, hoping by being friendly she'd stop looking at him like that. It was hard to tell, because she was angry, but she looked very pretty.

Marahute regarded Racket a little bit longer before smiling. "Raw Raw!" She danced back and forth on her hooves and then fluttered her wings around herself, using them to gesture to her. "Mrwaw hoot."
That was as close as she had ever managed to get to saying her name. Her face lit up and she chirped incoherently. And then suddenly she stopped and looked at Racket again. She inclined her head in his direction and squawked, "Raw Raw!

Racket stared at the pony in front of him. She was very different to anyone he had ever met before. "I don't think I can pronounce that," he said. "But it sounded... special."
He was interested in the way she moved. He usually kept his dancing for up in the trees, but he tried to replicate her steps, minus wings, of course.

Marahute nodded, slowing down her dance to give him a better chance at picking up the steps. She folded her wings away and started bobbing her head more, doing her best to take into consideration that he didn't have wings. Her deep garnet eyes twinkled as she started to move around him.

Racket grinned with glee. He loved to throw himself about, just to prove he could. This dancing required a bit more grace than he was used to, but it was fun for all that. He cackled joyfully.
"Is this your 'hey, nice to meet you' dance? Or have I just offered myself as a pony sacrifice?"
((Where do you want to go from here, Sun? Do you have any ideas? Maybe Racket can impress her by climbing something big which she can't reach because it's too windy, or maybe... something else, I'm sorry, it's late ^^;; wink )
