Jacaranda hugged the treeline as she passed from one grove of trees to another. Her beautiful skin did not take well to the blinding bright summer sun. Her soft complexion was worth spending all of her time in the shade. You had only to look at the wrinkles on the likes of Amaterasu and Daikin, oh dear. Poor Amaterasu.
Jacaranda was not one to feel sorry for someone, but the thought struck her that Amaterasu could profit from a few natural ointments. She was not such a lost cause; Amaterasu had wonderful back hair. Statement hair could win over almost any skin issue.
Jacaranda had come to the narrowest point between the groves of trees. She would brave the sun now, for the shortest time. As she stepped out of the shade, the light rippled across her hair and jewels.
Really, she thought, perhaps there is something to this sunlight...

The stunning hawk colored dragon sighed in contentment. The sun was warm on his body and the air held the wonderful smells of the forest that he was in. He loved to walk in the woods; to be anywhere where there was an abundance of nature really. The pattern of light coming between the leaves on the trees danced on the ground beneath the trees. It was like watching a dance. He closed his eyes and took another deep breath, letting the day wash over him.
Moving into the deeper woods, Farsight lost some of the sunlight that he enjoyed earlier. It was now only present in between groves of trees.
Peering ahead, he caught a flash of something fuchsia colored. "Hm." This warrants investigation...I don't think I've ever seen any flowers that grow here with that bold of a color... With that, his leisurely pace was replaced by one with purposeful ground eating strides.
As he came upon the colorful thing, he laughed. It wasn't a flower! Not in the way he was thinking. His deep chuckle sounded off of the trees as he stepped into view of the female.
"Good day to you. Very nice day to be in the woods."

Jacaranda heard his strides before she saw him. He was much larger than she was, and stronger. She had spent perhaps too much time in the wilds that her first impression of another person was how much of a danger they were. but he seemed unwary, as a predator might be. She finished walking into the trees to protect herself from the sun, towards the newcomer.
"Good day," she said. "Quite a bright day, when not under the trees. Though, I would expect you were more used to flying than walking. If I'm wrong, I'm glad. I know of too many with wings who can't remember the last time they had a winsome stroll."

Farsight shrugged, "The clouds and the sky are beautiful things, that's sure, but to ignore the world on the ground is foolish. There are things here that the sky could only imagine to harbor. Such as the woods. I have yet to see a decent forest growing in the clouds."
The dragon moved to make more room in the shade for his new companion. His lighthearted mood touched his eyes, and they crinkles around the edges with his smile. "If you're looking to avoid the sun, then perhaps you need a parasol?"

"I heard tales of Casimir forest, but I have never seen such a thing..."
Jacaranda swished hair tail into the shade more fully. Split ends and dry hair was all she needed.
"A parasol would catch on the branches and I would make such a noise. The creatures of the forest stay away from me enough already, so I need not terrify them."

He nodded, "I believe a traditional parasol would frighten the animals more. I was thinking about something a little less so."
Farsight unfurled one of his great leathery wings, holding it up so in the air as an example.
"If you'll forgive me, you seem to be a little out of your element here. Is there anything that I can help you with?"

"Thank you, my chivalrous knight," said Jacaranda. Now whom did this remind her of? Perhaps her taste was becoming clearer to her; she liked gentlemen.
"I am here for a few ingredients. Blue poppies and fitzbellflowers grow best in this particular forest and the better they grow, the more potent they are. Tell me; have you seen any hereabouts?"

"You are most welcome." His smile was warm as he looked at her and then furrowed his brows.
"Hm...poppies...Those are sun loving plants...if my memory serves me. There is a clearing a little further in where there are many different colors of poppy." He winked at her and leaned over to whipser, "Secretly, I think the deer keep them there so that they can eat them. I've seen some bucks who, at times, appear to be standing guard there."
Farsight chuckled at himself and sighed, "As for the others, I'm afraid I don't know what they look like. I've never heard of a fitzbell flower. My apologies there." His head bowed with his admission. He knew he didn't know all of the plants and animals, there were so many it would be impossible to know them all. It didn't change the fact that he felt as if he were letting her down.

"There's a start," said Jacaranda, heading in his intended direction. "Fitzbellflowers are like bell flowers, but they open the other way. They look more like curved umbrellas."
The forest suddenly gave way to a sunny glade marked with an explosion of different-coloured poppies. "Ahhh," sighed Jacaranda. "Perfect."
She picked her way through the poppies and found a clump of a deep royal blue and began carefully digging them up by their roots. It occurred to her, at this moment, that perhaps her new acquaintance had been trying to warn her of the dangers of bucks in the vicinity. She wasn't sure she could take care of bucks, or that they would be as wary of her as she was of them.
It was with more than her usual haste that she made her way back into the moderate safety of the shade.
"Have you seen any bucks nearby?" she asked.

"Oh no, not today." He noted her somewhat hurried pace. "I was only joking about them guarding the meadow. And even if it were so, I wouldn't allow them to harm you. You have just as much right to enjoy the gifts of the forest as they do." Farsight nodded resolutely. "I doubt that they would really want to tangle with a dragon anyway."

Jacaranda tilted her head back and imagined, briefly, the outcome of a tussle between a buck and a dragon. She blinked away the stark image. "I don't think any person would care to anger a dragon," she said seriously.
She looked around in all directions, thinking about the most likely place she would find fitzbellflowers. The trouble was, they grew where they liked, but very sporadically. "I suppose I could use yarrow instead of fitzbellflowers, but it wouldn't have the same potency. I may have to talk to that dreadful Milfoil." She made a stiff face. "Do you know him? He wanders around in these woods, thinks too highly of himself."
