Gypsy stared into Jaeger's eyes after he spoke, hoping to hide the small startled reaction she'd gotten to the kiss on her cheek as she took the map from him by reaction only. After a moment of looking into his eyes, though, she took one of his hands and put the map back in it.
"I trust you with the camp, Jaeger, and the children there. I trust you to give them the choices they need and respect those choices. I even trust you with their lives," she told him simply but honestly, "Your honor would see to it that they were taken care of properly," she added then looked down at her own hands as she let him go and headed for the door.
She didn't go far, though. She paused just a few steps away and stared at her hands for a long moment, "It's actually me that I don't trust... I bought Kael's words like a love-sick idiot. I gave him my trust. I listened to him when he said he'd grown feelings for me, that he wanted me as his wife in truth instead of by contract. I couldn't see anything he'd gain from it so I bought into it. I was gullible and stupid to believe him, I know, but I did it anyway.
"I've never been part of what you'd consider a real family or in any kind of a real relationship. I've only ever known the life of a Demon and of a Mercenary. Neither of which is any situation to develop any kind of bonds. I still don't know what Kael gained when he got me, what profit was in it for him. And I don't know what profit there's in it for you. But I'm willing to trust you with nothing to show for it," she explained softly before turning back to him with a small frown.
"I don't understand what's so interesting about me, why Kael wanted me, or why you want me. I'm simply accepting it with you. But you'll have to show me what all of this is about, what it's like for two people to actually care about each other. Maybe you can help me out a bit with what I'm supposed to do with Shade too," she finished with a shrug of one shoulder and her head down, not sure if she wanted to see the look on his face when he realized what she was actually asking him for...
Anything else that was to be said was interrupted by a knock at the door, though, "Kael-demon-person! It's Esabel! You promised to play with me later. Well, it's later now! So come on! Esabel's bored! Lily's back to being a little girl and Morrigan's busy doing somethin' else. Come on, Kael!" she said impatiently and knocked on the door again.
Gypsy looked up at Jaeger with wide eyes, "Crap!" she said in a hushed tone then moved over to stand right in front of him so she could talk quietly where they wouldn't be overheard, "We have to get out of here now. If she finds out what happened to him, there's no telling what she'll do!" she informed him, her crimson eyes filled with worry over what could happen if they were caught now.
