Dameon Black Just so you know where we are... Esabel's portal brought them to the Prison of the Re Base. She walked over and tapped one of the guards on the shoulder and gained a satisfying yelp of fear when he turned and saw her. She grinned at him and patted him on the head ( a surprising feat since she only stood barely over five feet). "Good boy. Now Esabel's here to play and brought a new dead-people-person to play with me. So's you be a good boy an' stand here like you's is supposed to do," she told him then waved for Shadow to follow her, "Come on Mini-Puppy!" she called out as she headed inside the gates. Inside was a large central area surrounded by cages of various types, depending on the type of prisoner. She halted in the center and gestured to the ells, "Just pick one an' we can play. Easy-peasy," she paused there and pointed to one of the cells, "But not that one. They're food," she corrected herself and went with one of the few rules she actually paid attention to. There were alot of prisoners that looked at her as if they would have cheerfully killed her without a qualm, some of them might have even enjoyed it. Esabel didn't have the best of reputations and alot of people wanted her dead. Especially, her creator....

Shadow blinked a few times at the sudden change in scenery, but except for that, he wasn't really shaken by where he was. He watched Esabel with the guard, intrigued. When she started walking, he followed without question. He took a look around at the prisoners, wondering which one to fight. he ignored the one she pointed at, not questioning what she meant by food. The looks they gave her might have unsettled him, but he was busy looking for a strong one to fight. After a few minutes, he pointed at a random one, trusting fate to choose a good fighter. The one he chose was a rather large prisoner, heavily muscled throughout his body. From what he saw, Shadow was looking at a war veteran, although he couldn't quite figure out how old he was. He sensed power from him, but only minor magic, possibly pyro magic. So, from what he could deduce, he picked one of two kinds of fighters: a halve-demon, or a human magic user who had a bad temper. 'This should entertain Esabel' Shadow thought before he could stop himself.

Esabel nodded to one of the guards who simply collected the prisoner from his cell and moved him to his knees in front of Shadow then left them alone She approached and circled them both once. Then she dropped to her knees beside the prisoner, "Okies, now here's the deal. Mini-Puppy here needs to work out some frustrations an' yous just got picked out for that. If you win, you's goes free. If you don't win, you's dies. Got it?" she told the prisoner. Of course, she should have expected him to try to go for her instead... The prisoner tackled her and tried to go for her throat while she just gave one of her giggles that was actually attractive to hear instead of annoying. She turned them both over and straddled the male with one hand holding his chest to the ground, looking very pleased with herself. She looked up at Shadow with a half-grin, "He's feisty. Should be lots of fun for you," she told him simply before she got to her feet and held up one hand with her dark energy creating a rack of various weapons. She didn't say anything else as she simply moved off to the side to watch. The prisoner didn't hesitate for long. He scrambled to his feet and ran for the weapons, selecting a dagger and sword first. The dagger was thrown at Esabel, who dodged it with a bored expression; the sword was used to go after Shadow but with plenty of teasing moves in an effort to entice Shadow into attacking him. He hadn't used any magic yet, but that didn't mean that he didn't have it available to him. It simply meant that he was operating on survival instinct for the moment...

Lucy appeared out of the shadows near Esabel and Shadow. She looked around with a rather annoyed expression. Her gaze moved over to Esabel and Shadow and she shook her head when she saw the prisoner attacking Shadow. She caused a wall of ice to form between Shadow and the prisoner and then walked over to stand in front of Esabel. "Esabel, we've talked about you grabbing people from Sanctuary for your 'adventures'," she said. "You always promise that they'll be fine, but you've gotten two recruits killed and driven two more insane. You can't just grab my people and keep trying to get them killed like this. I don't care if you're bored. Shadow is still in shock about what he missed, and dragging him around a world that's brand new to him and then throwing him into a fight isn't helping. But just so that you don't immediately grab someone else when I'm not looking, I'll let this continue, but only with my supervision. And if you whine about it or try to ditch me, I'll tell Lily and you'll get in trouble. Got it?" Lucy clearly wasn't happy about the way Esabel was "playing" with Shadow, though this was based off of a history that Shadow had no way of knowing. She waited a moment to see if Esabel agreed to her terms, her eyes glowing a bright yellow as the prison area got colder and colder.

Shadow watched the prisoner with Esabel, seeing what he could do. As he watched, he nearly laughed, because this opponent was, as he could deduced that he was clumsy. He wasn't at all surprised by the appearance of Lucy, and simply turned and watched her and Esabel, waiting for her to get done. He also wasn't surprised by Esabel's response to Lucy, and he turned back to the prisoner as the ice melted slowly, watching as the prisoner ran at him with eyes full of lethal intent. Shadow simply set his feet and called on his staff, its pitch-black wood forming in his right hand out of the dark shadows. He watched his opponent with emotionless eyes, for he thought that emotion hindered defense. When the prisoner slashed his sword, Shadow already had five to six plans in his mind to end his life in seconds. He chose the easiest way; he used the prisoner's own momentum to slam him to the ground with a simple arch down across his ankles, his staff turning into a spear with a black blade. The blade sliced the prisoner's ankle open, in the right spot to leave pure pain behind in the blades wake. He then spun, still in the exact place he was in, and in seconds had the blade in the screaming prisoner's throat, impaling it through and through. Shadow pulled his spear away, and it slowly turned back into a staff, blood running down it's end. He closed his eyes and breathed in the scent of fresh blood, his mind giving in to that wild side without him knowing. But, instead of going insane with the need for more, he simply popped his neck slowly and opened his eyes, turning to Esabel with a small smile. He wasn't at all even phased by the fact that she has done this kind of thing before. Here lately, he could get used to anything, at least around that nutcase.

Esabel pouted a bit but gave in, as they both expected of her. When he managed to kill the prisoner, she just looked at Lucy and gestured in his direction, "See, Sister-Lucy? Esabel knew he'd be fine. He's not like them others. They were boring. He's a dead-people-person. He can even bring that one back an' help Ilea out by making that dead-person into a new Bone Sentinel or somethin' like that," she pointed out. Then she reached up and pulled the dagger out of the wall that the prisoner had thrown at her and gave Lucy another kiss to her cheek, "Besides. You's is Lily's sister. That makes you Esabel's sister too. All you had to do was ask," she added before she crossed to admire the kill. But she tilted her head a bit as she looked back up at Shadow, "You's is good with your stick, but you might want to ask Morrigan to help you with your Puppy-mode. Gypsy can help you with learnin' other weapons, too," she told him simply then looked back at Lucy for a long moment, as if she was considering something else. In the end, she made a decision that neither of them would have expected, "Now Esabel wants to take him somewhere's else. But no killin' there an' he won't lose his mind neither," she told Lucy then simply took Shadow's hand and started walking, fully expecting Lucy to follow this time. Though Shadow had the ability to stop them from leaving easily, Esabel really did want to introduce him to the Pillow Room. After all, he'd been asleep a long time and she felt that he deserved a little bit of spoiling....

Lucy rolled her eyes when she heard Esabel speak about how Shadow was different than the other recruits that she had grabbed to 'play' with. She growled at Esabel's kiss to her cheek. "Lily may love you and consider you to be a sister, but I don't" she said, clearly still hating Esabel. "Lily loves you, so I'll make sure that you stay alive and don't get hurt. But you're not my sister. You're the one that Ren and Gin decided to replace me with. They made you her sister to fill the void that was left when they separated her from me. I lost myself to my rage and it cost me Lily. I don't blame you for that. In fact, I'm actually a bit grateful for the relationship you two have built up. But I will never love you the way she does. You're a broken, damaged mess of a woman whose existence puts her in danger. I only tolerate you at all because she loves you, and you do seem to really love her the same way in return. If it wasn't for that, I would've let Goh have you and then obliterated him afterward." She didn't speak again after that, allowing Esabel to go back over to Shadow and start leading him off toward the Pillow Room. She didn't really want to speak to Esabel again, deciding instead to just follow and make sure that she didn't get them into any trouble.

Shadow, already confused by the situation, said nothing as the two women spoke. Currently, his mind was wandering to the many voices of the dead that swirled in the dark emptiness that was his mind. But one voice was different. It spoke of what it was like to be free, to run through the forest and survive alone, with no one to get in the way. He shook his head to clear it, trying to focus on the present, not the past...
