I'm sure many of you have gotten wind of this by now but I decided to post this for those who haven't heard the exciting news yet, and so we could discuss this revelation! Recently, this week at Germany's Gamescon, an online playable teaser for an unknown game was uploaded for people to enjoy. During the week, a day following this release, a grand surprise was given to survival horror fans both new and old. That's right, I'm talking about our favorite foggy little town called Silent Hill. A teaser showcasing the games graphics was shown and gives some information on the upcoming installment in our favorite franchise. As I posted before, probably around a year ago or so, there was a rumor that Hideo Kojima would be working on the next Silent Hill. As of this teaser this was proven to be true with Kojima's Fox Engine being used for the game. An even bigger surprise however was that Kojima would be joined by Guillermo Del Toro, the director of last years Pacific Rim and the Hellboy films, and Norman Reedus who achieved Walking Dead fame as Daryl Dixon. It is unknown what role Del Toro is playing at this time but most likely he will be joining Kojima in creating the story or directing the game. Norman Reedus, an outstanding actor in his own right and no stranger to the horror genre, will be providing voice and motion capture of the protagonist of the game! Now how cool is that?

I played the demo and it was quite scary! There's a lot of discussion regarding whether or not beating the demo is random or if you have to do something specific or not. I haven't been able to beat it yet so I cheated and just watched the teaser trailer for it online. (which is your reward for beating the demo apparently)

Hideo tweeted, ending the fight that started about the scene in the trailer with Norman Reedus as to whether or not that was a sequence or real time. It's actual game play!

The downloadable demo has nothing to do with the actual game apparently but serves as a means to show you the fox engine capabilities with a game like silent hill. What can the fox engine do for the horror genre. The demo is a teaser of the sort of horror both Hideo and Guillermo can bring to the franchise and honestly, I am so stoked.

I cannot wait for this game. I am beyond excited and think that it's not only going to reboot Silent Hill, but also take it to the next level. I know I'll be getting this game for sure!!!

I am so stoked for this. I cried when the title appeared and the Silent Hill theme played. There is no other feeling like it!

I truly believe this is the game that will get veteran fans back into the franchise since many have seen a decline in quality in the recent games. I enjoyed the majority of the new ones including 2012's Downpour but I completely understand where all the longtime fans were coming from with their complaints. This game though looks like our beloved franchise is getting reborn and, as an already groundbreaking horror franchise, raising the bar higher for the series and its competitors. I look forward to seeing future gameplay or trailers of this at the Spike Game Awards or at E3 2014 before release as it looks very promising so far. Going to take me awhile to get used to calling it Silent Hills though. xd That added s has already thrown me off when talking about it enough as it is.

Oh yeah and a fun rumor I heard last year that you can look up for yourselves biggrin When Kojima was approached to direct the new Silent Hill installment one of the original monster designers from the original Team Silent (yes that Team Silent that scared our panties off for 4 games straight and birthed this franchise) expressed interesting in returning to the series if Kojima was involved! biggrin Look forward to hearing news about that! Not official but if one of the original designers comes back there's potential for the original team to return too! Though I don't think they are for this game since it's already in production and such huge news of Team Silent's return would have certainly been announced. sweatdrop

PT stands for Playable Teaser. smile And you most likely did click on the right video if it looked indie xd It was supposed too look like an indie studio made it because the director didn't want to give away the surprise right away. And the teaser and it's gameplay aside from the ending cinematic teaser trailer has no direct correlation with the upcoming Silent Hills game. It was made to show off the graphical engine and it's capabilities and to tease how scary this new entry may just be. smile Hope this helped! biggrin

So far no unfortunately. But I expect more information and actual gameplay to appear either in December at the Game Awards or next June during E3.
