Miasma Special thanks to YummyBiscuits for making this system
Miasma is a phenomenon most commonly seen in use by Demons who are Kin to Astaroth. Miasma by definition is a gaseous vapor of some kind that has potentially poisonous, acidic, or toxic effects depending upon the type of Miasma used, and can be used for attack and defense. Miasma has use by humans in chemical warfare but in most cases chemical weapons can not compare to the power and ability of Demonic Miasmas. This is because Demonic Miasma draws it's power from multiple sources, unlike the Flames of Purgatory. While drawing strength from The Demon King Astaroth, Miasma also draws it's power from sources of corruption and poison in both Gehenna and Assiah, so where normal poisons might send a human to a hospital with digestive troubles, the poisons that demons issue can kill people very quickly, human, exorcist, and demon alike.
Any Kin of Astaroth can unlock the power of miasma, in most cases the ability to issue poison can be used by even the weakest demon. Use and control of the Miasma is based on both the Demonic Aura and the Demonic Control of the user. The Demonic Aura classifies the power and length of time of the miasma while the Demonic Control gives the user a clue as to how much control of the miasma they have, as each type of miasma has different levels of power and different parameters of use. Because of this, higher levels of Demonic Control can lead to even weaker miasma overcoming stronger miasma, so this is the stat to look at when two different types of miasma come into contact.
Defending against Miasma
When dealing with Miasma, it is important to know how to protect yourself from it. Each type of Miasma is different, which grants it different effects as well different weaknesses. For an Exorcist or even a Demon, there are multiple ways or protecting oneself or even destroying the miasma. Below you can view the different types of methods that work on removing miasma, countering the effects, or completely negating the effects. We will look at four different things that can protect one from the effects of Miasma.
Barriers Because Miasma is produced from within Demons through the combination of their demonic aura and their Qi creating a chemical imbalance, barriers created from Qi are able to negate the effects of Miasma, by shutting the miasma out of the specified area. As long as the barrier remains active the miasma will not be able to affect those within the barrier. Although this is not the case for each type of miasma, but for a majority of them, creating a barrier of some kind either out of Qi or an element, one is able to protect themselves from the effects of the miasma for as long as they can wield the barrier. Although the second the barrier is removed the miasma will start to affect those it once protected.
Fire Miasma is vulnerable to many elements, but the main one that Miasma is unable to stand up to is Fire. In terms of utilizing Fire, the strength of the fire will differ from users. For Exorcist utilizing fatal verse, they will focus on their Fatal Verse parameter versus the Demon’s demonic control. The same thing will be said for a demon utilizing fire based techniques. They would focus on their fatal verse stat. Now, when one is utilizing a special fire that is not the Crimson Flame, the user will need to focus on both the Fatal Verse parameter and the Demonic Control. In this case, the one with the higher level of Demonic Control would win. When using fire against Miasma, the length in time the effects of Miasma last for will vary based on the type of flame used.
The Blue Flames: Miasma effects will completely lose its effects and will burn away to nothing if the user’s Demonic Control is higher (if they are demon). If the user demonic control is lower, then the effects will be reduced in half, allowing the effects to last for 50% of the original post time. The Golden Flames: Miasma effects will be cut in half, and will only last for 50% of the original post time. The Green Flames: Miasma effects will be lowered by three posts The Black Flames: Miasma effects will be lowered by two posts The Crimson Flames: Miasma effects will be lowered by one posts (Reminder, this is the normal fire that even humans can use.)
Holy Water Because Miasma is created demonically, holy water is very useful against it. It can counter the effects if one is effected by miasma and suffering from it. Holy water although is limited to the amount of time it last for, for a single Holy Water grenade, the user can remove two posts of the miasma, allowing the user two posts of protection. After the second post, either more holy water will be needed or the user will be unable to shield themselves from the miasma effects.
Wind Wind is very useful against Miasma, for the simple fact it is a gas. Although it doesn’t change much from using fire; for Exorcist utilizing fatal verse, they will focus on their Fatal Verse parameter versus the Demon’s demonic control. The same thing will be said for a demon utilizing wind based techniques. They would focus on their fatal verse stat. Using wind will remove 3 effect posts from the Miasma.

Miasma Type: Shoki: The Miasma of the End
Description: Shoki or the Black Miasma is referred to as the penultimate Miasma, and the personal calling card of only the greatest of Astaroth's Kin. It goes by many names, such as Astaroth's Breath, The Decay, The End, and even the Gas of Hell. This Miasma can not be destroyed by most means, it's incredibly heavy and thick, and most flames will do nothing to disperse it in the least, proving that they are the strongest of all Miasma. Even light infections can lead to death, and it will only propagate itself further in those who die, leading to a possibly endless cycle of death and decay. Only the Flames of Satan and The Flames of Purification have been shown to have any effect upon the miasma once it is release. There are age old legends that say when the powers of creation and destruction face off that it will be this Miasma which stands at the fore of destruction's forces, which has lead many demons to fear it's power and fear individuals who can use it.
This Miasma eats anything and everything away, displaying both acidic and toxic qualities, meaning that it can eat through metals and stone just as easily as it can through flesh and blood. It will eat at substances like a starved man and will leave nothing behind in it's wake except for poisoned, desecrated land and a poisonous aura that takes years to go away if at all. It not only destroys things physically, it eats at the soul and Qi of an object until nothing is left behind.
People coming into contact with the Shoki will lose 40 Mobility and 5,000 Qi per post until they are purified with Holy water or they leave the polluted area.

[601-700] Expert Control: When the User is nearly a master of Miasma, but don't yet understand the nuances of the art. Here the User can control the shape and intensity of the Miasma, allowing it's range to be affected. [701-900] Master Control: When the User has absolute control of the Miasma, allowing them to control where it goes, and how quickly it moves through the affected area. Miasma Type: The Brown; Swamp Gas
Description: This Miasma is the simplest but in most case the most effective manner of miasma that a Demon of Rot can summon at any time. It is made of poisons and compounds that are found naturally in Assiah, and where some Miasma can not affect humans, this is the most used Miasma when attacking large populations of people. Many of the compounds in this Miasma are considered natural and most if not all people have access to them, making it easy to obtain but also easy to cure at the same time unless high enough doses are delivered. Because of this, it is the most commonly used Miasma by demons who live in Assiah.
In most cases, this Miasma can not harm other demons but is especially effective against humans. All of the compounds inside of it are lethal to humans, and anyone coming into contact with it suffers the loss of 10 Mobility and 1,000 Qi per post while they are within the Miasma. They stop losing Mobility and Qi the second they are free from the Miasma or they are purified with holy water. Parameters: Demonic Control must be 15 or above. Demonic Aura must be 10 or above.
Demonic Control Levels:
No Control: When the User has no physical control over the Miasma, including the shape or direction of the Miasma. [15-50] Moderate Control: When the User is beginning to understand the fundamentals of the Miasma, allowing them brief and fleeting control over the general direction the Miasma flows. [51-100] Expert Control: When the User is nearly a master of Miasma, but don't yet understand the nuances of the art. Here the User can control the shape and intensity of the Miasma, allowing it's range to be affected. [101-200] Master Control: When the User has absolute control of the Miasma, allowing them to control where it goes, and how quickly it moves through the affected area. In this level of master, the User can attract Ghouls and other demons of decay, as well as creating fungal species in the wake of the poison. [201-300]

Miasma Type: The Yellow Miasma: Tyranus
Description: The Miasma known as Tyranus was named for the most famous user of this Miasma, when he sacrificed himself in order for Astaroth's Army to gain victory in a decisive battle. Following this, all Rot Demons referred to the Yellow Miasma as Tyranus in reverence to his sacrifice.
This brand of Miasma turns the users body into the literal epicenter of a poisonous gas, which turns their cells into a gaseous vapor and spreads it through the air in an especially dangerous attack pattern. Users can heal partially to lengthen the amount of time that this poison works or to save themselves from the fatal effects, but only a rare few ever survive using this, which in the past, has earned it the moniker "The Miasma of Sacrifice." By turning their body into actual poison, the full demonic power of the demon is translated into the poison, giving it incredible power. Nothing is safe against this brand of poison except for inorganic compounds, meaning that it will eat through the bodies of anything in the vicinity with incredible speed and efficiency. Part of the legend follows that the horde that had turned against Tyranus was left decimated, and when people came to find out what had happened later, they found nothing but empty armor, weapons without owners, and tattered clothing, but not a single shred of flesh or even a drop of blood.
User will lose 10 mobility per post. If Mobility drops below 20% it will be fatal. Parameters: Demonic Control must be 400 or above. Demonic Aura must be 200 or above
Demonic Control Levels:
No Control: When the User has no physical control over the Miasma, including the shape or direction of the Miasma. 400-500 Moderate Control: When the User is beginning to understand the fundamentals of the Miasma, allowing them brief and fleeting control over the general direction the Miasma flows. 501-600 Expert Control: When the User is nearly a master of Miasma, but don't yet understand the nuances of the art. Here the User can control the shape and intensity of the Miasma, allowing it's range to be affected. 601-700 Master Control: When the User has absolute control of the Miasma, allowing them to control where it goes, and how quickly it moves through the affected area. In this level of master, the User can attract Ghouls and other demons of decay, as well as creating fungal species in the wake of the poison. 700-800

Miasma Type: The Purple Miasma; Dumballa
Description: This Miasma is known as Dumballa, named for a shadowy voodoo Lwa, or nature spirit. It's a dark purple that smells strongly of grave dirt, and holds a dark secret within it's twining body; when it bursts forth from the user, it begins attracting droves of zombies. Using this miasma activates the NPC battle system, and summons zombies that climb from the ground, the number of zombies summoned directly related to the power of the demon using this miasma. With a higher degree of power, a demon can summon more zombies, and with a more powerful level of Demonic Control, the user can exert increasing levels of power over the zombies summoned.
The zombies are relatively weak, but their power comes rather in numbers than sheer strength. Many exorcists have been fooled into thinking a small group would be easy to destroy, only to find it was nothing more than a searching party for the much larger horde. So one has to watch out for the stronger users, because what could seem to be only a few could in fact lead to a massive amount of zombies that can over run any protection given enough time.
This miasma can not be used again until the previously summoned zombies have all been destroyed. Parameters: Demonic Control must be 200 or above. Demonic Aura must be 150 or above.
Demonic Control Levels:
No Control: When the User has no physical control over the zombies, meaning they can attack friend and foe alike. 200-250 Moderate Control: When the User is beginning to understand the fundamentals of the Miasma, allowing them brief and fleeting control over the zombies and what they target, but there's still danger of that control slipping. 250-350 Expert Control: When the User is nearly a master of controlling the zombies, meaning he can control exactly who they attack. While they still can't control every aspect of the horde, control is nearing completion. 350-500 Master Control: When the User has absolute control of the zombies, in so much they can guide the zombies in specialized teams and give them tasks beyond simply attacking or eating what ever is in sight. 500-600
Demonic Aura Levels: ----- When Miasma is used with a Demonic Aura between 200-300 the user can summon up to 20 zombies (Lowest value 1). ----- When Miasma is used with a Demonic Aura between 301-400 the user can summon 40 zombies (Lowest value 10). ----- When Miasma is used with a Demonic Aura between 401-500 the user can summon 100 zombies (Lowest value 20). ----- When Miasma is used with a Demonic Aura between 501-600 the user can summon 150 zombies (Lowest value 50). ----- When Miasma is used with a Demonic Aura between 601-700 the user can summon 350 zombies.(Lowest value 100)

Miasma Type: The Green Miasma; Dragon Breath
Description: This Miasma is considered to be one of the more dangerous Miasma types available to demons of rot. Where it isn't poisonous or toxic, it's incredibly acidic, to the point that even steel will give way to it in a matter of moments. This can weaken structures incredibly quickly, leading them to fall, and in fact, many rot demons have used this in the past in order to bring down massive fortresses in only minutes. The effects it has on inorganic substances is translated over to organic substances as well, but it's nowhere near as effective at tearing that apart as it is with metals and stone. Humans without much defense who get caught in the miasma can have their flesh stripped away in only minutes, and oddly enough, the same goes for demons as well. It is known as Dragon's Breath, because like the dragons of old, this miasma can leave only bones and broken structures in it's destructive wake.
It has a hidden strength as well, allowing it to be particularly effective in certain battles. Any rot demon who can learn this type of miasma will do so, because unlike other Miasma types, Dragon's Breath is slightly resistant to fire. It is almost completely immune to the effects of the Crimson Flames, while other flames take slightly longer to destroy it. The Golden Flames of Purification and the Blue Flames of Creation have only a little trouble with this stuff, but they are both quick to destroy it nevertheless.
Anyone coming into contact with Dragon's Breath Miasma suffers a loss of 20 Mobility per post. Parameters: Demonic Control must be 300 or above. Demonic Aura must be 300 or above.
Demonic Control Levels:
No Control: When the User has no physical control over the Miasma, including the shape or direction of the Miasma 300-350 Moderate Control: When the User is beginning to understand the fundamentals of the Miasma, allowing them brief and fleeting control over the general direction the Miasma flows.351-400 Expert Control: When the User is nearly a master of Miasma, but don't yet understand the nuances of the art. Here the User can control the shape and intensity of the Miasma, allowing it's range to be affected. 401-500 Master Control: When the User has absolute control of the Miasma, allowing them to control where it goes, and how quickly it moves through the affected area. In this level of master, the User can attract Ghouls and other demons of decay, as well as creating fungal species in the wake of the poison. 501-600

Miasma Type: The Gray Miasma; Reaper's Kiss
Description: The Gray Miasma has been called many names through the ages. But one in particular has been noted, because it can be particularly deadly in the right circumstances. When the Miasma is released, it takes the shape of opaque gray smoke that can be missed if the target isn't paying attention and mistakes it for fog. However, it's effects can kill very quickly. Instead of eating away at the physical body of the target, this Miasma instead destroys Qi in the targets body, and uses that Qi to keep itself active for much longer than other types of Miasma. This is what makes it particularly dangerous, and opponent might not notice that their energy reserves are gone before they have a chance to protect themselves.
Anyone coming into contact with Reaper's Kiss suffers a loss of 10,000 Qi per post. Parameters: Demonic Control must be 600 or above. Demonic Aura must be 500 or above.
Demonic Control Levels:
No Control: When the User has no physical control over the Miasma, including the shape or direction of the Miasma 600-700 Moderate Control: When the User is beginning to understand the fundamentals of the Miasma, allowing them brief and fleeting control over the general direction the Miasma flows.701-800 Expert Control: When the User is nearly a master of Miasma, but don't yet understand the nuances of the art. Here the User can control the shape and intensity of the Miasma, allowing it's range to be affected. 801-900/b] Master Control: When the User has absolute control of the Miasma, allowing them to control where it goes, and how quickly it moves through the affected area. In this level of master, the User can attract Ghouls and other demons of decay, as well as creating fungal species in the wake of the poison. 901-1,000
