Why is it that whenever you pick up a romance novel, it's one of those trashy, have sex every other chapter books? I don't mind reading those every once in a while but when I say I want to read a romance, I want to read a romance! D:

Why do you guys think that it's seemed to turn into this?

I hate those books. A good Romance Novelist is Johanna Lindsey. Her Malory series really focus' on the actual Characters rather than the R18 novels. To be honest, this boom happened because there was a boom on 50 Shades of Grey. Now everyone wants that and, similar to the vampire boom, writers will write that.

So unfortunately, my favourite Genre is suffering due to a trend. I won't give up thought.

Books to read:
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
The Malory Series - Johanna Lindsey
Paris - Edward Rutherford

And those titles is what I've read recently. My favourite book from the Malory Series is Gentle Rogue. James Malory is absolutely Hilarious especially with Anthony!

Ugh. Fifty shades of s**t. >.< I downloaded Pride and Prejudice on my Kindle but I just can't wade through it. I have started that book so many times only to just put it down the same day. It's just so...dull that I can't seem to last on it. :/ Although I'll look into the others that you've mentioned.

I knew that it was a trend but I didn't realize how much until I tried to look up Native American central romances (Native american -male- x settler -female- ) and they ALL are turning up trashy romance novels. So I just tried to look at other stuff under romance and I was pretty much getting the same thing. Ugh. Literature how far you have fallen.

I don't read Romance novels myself but my wife does. Basically the reason why "trashy" romance novels sell so well is because of the sex in it. Unfortunately "Soap Operas" in the past were the same way. On TV it seems that most medical shows have at least one or several sex scenes in every episode. If I went to a hospital or doctors office where the only thing that the doctors and nurses did was have sex I would be running for the hills. LOL Basically sex sells.

I have a suggestion to those of you who are tired of the "trashy" romance novels. A few years ago my wife switched over to Amish Love stories. She likes them a lot and their are a few good authors of them out their. Also many of the Amish novels are about the daily life and struggles that they go through. Give them a try and let me know what you think. You can find Amish books in stores like K-Mart, Barnes & Noble, Target, and others. Don't be surprised that once you start reading them that you get hooked.

Sure sexy sells but it always baffles me how these trashy novels really don't have any stable plot what so ever to them. It's all just an excuse for the couple to ******** like rabbits. >.< It's not a story, its porn.

Unfortunately you're right. These "Trashy" novels are a form of porn. We need a new group of romance book writers that are willing to acknowledge that people are more than animals with urges and write what true feelings and Love is all about.

Here's something to consider. I've watched as society has isolated itself more and more over the decades and at the same time most people want things now not later. What happened to patience? This want it now attitude is everywhere you look. Being connected to anyone at anytime by cell phone. Watching news live from anywhere around the world instantly. My wife asked me just tonight. How come they don't keep movies on the big screen as long as they use to. Simple answer. they want to make money by having the DVD's of the movie out quicker. So novels have gone the same way. No offense to the makers of Kindle, etc. People no longer have to wait for a book to come out in a book store. They push writers to come out with new books quicker so that they can be downloaded into your digital device.

To put things in simple terms we are quickly becoming a society where their is less and less human contact in person. No offense to the internet but it has made it easier for this to happen. With less physical interaction certain needs are not fulfilled and media has noticed so they are writing more and more "Trashy" novels to fill in the void. I Love interacting with other people around the world but at the same time I cherish every moment that I spend with family and friends in person.
