This time of year Kemetics start talking about this thing called Wep Ronpet. But what is it? To put it simply Wep Ronpet is the Kemetic New Year. In Ancient Egypt Wep Ronpet used to be celebrated with the Nile flooded but because it was inconsistent it was moved to coincide with the appearance of Sirius in the sky after 70 days of absence. For more information on how this happened and how to calculate when Wep Ronpet would occur for you check out the Kemetic Calendar thread in the Kemetic Religion Discussion subforum.

While Wep Ronpet is just one day. Kemetics tend to include the 5 days leading up to it as part of the celebration. The 5 days leading up to Wep Ronpet are called the Epagomenal Days. Do you know the myth about Ra forbidding Nut from having her children on any day of the year? The Epagomenal Days are the days outside of the year. Each day was a day that Nut gave birth to one of her children, in the order of Asar (Osiris), Heru Wr (Horus the Elder), Set, Aset (Isis), and then Nebt Het (Nephthys).

As for the how to celebrate, it seems like its becoming popular to celebrate the Epagomenal Days like a birthday party for the corresponding deity. As for Wep Ronpet itself, execrations or watching the sun rise. Popular Wep Ronpet execrations are destroying images of Apep to keep him from gaining power through the new year.
