The bargain Akihiko was offering confirmed that he was not in league with the Gotei 13, but Ryuu-Nagisa couldn't help but wonder why the man was going against the Gotei 13 and how he had managed to get someone from the Onmitsukido to join him. Curious yet cautious and even more irritated than usual due to his hyperfocus that seem to channel all his attention towards the man before him. Part of him was pushing him to screw formalities and tact and just stab the man so that they could have some fun. Fortunately, the apathetic part of Nagisa was strong and stronger, at least for now, so he ignored it, brushing the thought aside along with Akihiko's threat. He was, for the most part at least, unimpressed with the man's taunts and found it amusing that he would resort to such open insults. Nagisa had always been taught that the first who resorted to insults were the first to admit defeat. He was, however, intrigued by Akihiko's knowledge of Hollowfication.
His hyperfocus had him snap his gaze towards Nanashi when she suddenly appeared before them, out of her Gigai. "What are y-" he growled at her at the same time as she opened her mouth, but he never finished his sentence before growing flash of blue light was released and they soon found themselves in an empty school with a strange blue hue covering it all. As if a wild beast suddenly receiving a surprise poke, Nagisa's reflexes immediately kicked in and his vision darkened, Reiatsu flaring and condensing in the area an arm's reach away from his body. It turned his spiritual pressure into something akin to water, suffocating for weaker spiritual being and hindering physical movements. At the same time, he drew his sealed zanpakuto from its umbrella sheathe and lunged forward, towards Akihiko with a clean horizontal strike towards the man's waist area, intent on using the length of the nodachi for an unexpected reach. An odd smile was plastered on his face without his realization and a drop of black manifested itself in the sclera of his left eye.

As Ryūnosuke lunged at Akihiko with a horizontal strike the air thick with his water like spiritual pressure, the former captain of the 4th division simply smiled before releasing a bit of his own spiritual pressure which seemed to burn the very air. Stuck between these two monstrous opposing forces Nanashi found herself suddenly very aware of her own reduced spiritual pressure, especially when the two clashed as Akihiko blocked the attack. "Boy you haven't even beat that thing, pitiful. Let me show you the error in being a hollow, Hadō # 63 Raikōhō" Akihiko would fire the kidō while holding the first attack with his blade in the left hand. He would simultaneously push the blade off so if done successfully Ryūnosuke would be not only thrown back but blasted from the area by the hadō. Akihiko normally would've used bakudō to hold him until the hollow was dealt with but he was here for Nanashi not this boy.

A roaring wind was unleashed in the two swordsman’s vicinity when Nagisa’s Reiatsu was met with that of the retired captain so much that the sound of steel against steel could barely be heard over that of the rushing air. If it wasn’t for the man’s barrier spell, the glass of nearby windows would have shattered on the spot instead of merely quaking under the impact of the opposing air masses they had generated.
Not one to press on with brute strength once his Iaido has been neutralized, Nagisa had immediately relaxed the muscles in his arm while pushing forward, body leaning sideways so as to glance his opponent’s blade away, towards the side, by flexing his elbow. It allowed him to evade Akihiko’s blade when the man pushed back as he offered no resistance, but it had him run directly and headfirst into a mass of sizzling yellow sparks. Considering Akihiko’s area of expertise, between the blade and a point blank Raikoho, the former option may have been the better choice.
The spell detonated upon impact, plunging his world into a blinding white before pain erupted in his sword arm and face, where the spell had hit hardest. Nagisa felt himself flung backwards, crashing through what must have been a wall or two in the process. Even brighter spots of light, if that was possible, dotted his vision long enough to distract him before he realized too late that darkness had seeped in through the extremities of his field of vision at alarming speed, swallowing him whole in an inky black sea. The trouble with his hyperfocus was that it only allowed Nagisa to focus on a single thing and allow him to perform much better in terms of reflex and growth, but at the expense of dulling his awareness of everything else. In this case, it was the awareness of his inner demon slipping out from the recess of his mind.
Nagisa’s body began to move without his knowledge, letting out a demented laughter and riding onto the Raikoho’s momentum to perform a backflip in midair. It would be followed by a Shunpo, one much faster than any he had performed in the past. The blast had knocked them out of the area under the former captain’s controlled, essentially unleashing a repressed beast into the heart of Karakura.

As the hollow began taking him over the Amatoki heir was blasted from the barrier, yet Akihiko didn't even give him a second glance. The former captain's attention was now on his student. "You've lost your nerve inconsiderate child. Now I must beat it back into you, but this time I'll add a reward. Should you be able to confidently hit me with a kidō I'll not only give you the means to fight that Amatoki Witch on equal grounds but I'll also repair your zanpakutō that my great niece is in the shed maintaining. " The man would have just helped his idiot student had she not appeared to be so close to breaking down. He knew her powers had been weaked by the seal on her neck but to lose her nerve with her power was an insult to him that couldn't go unpunished.
Shaking her head to regain her senses Nanashi found herself stunned at what had just transpired between two men she'd faced in the past. The kenpachi before her had never had energy like that when she faced him; at the same time her master had never used sword and kidō so fluidly together. What's more he seems to like always have all the answers offering not only to help her against the Amatoki woman but also fix her zanpakutō. These two prospects gave her a new hope that Ryūnosuke's escape had crushed. "Very well sensei you'll see my kidō gave not lost their bite despite my weakened state. Bakudō #9 Hōrin Hadō #32 Ōkasen" While she called out the bakudō very loudly the hadō was almost like a whisper, this was an attempt to keep it a surprise attack. When the energy rope attempted to ensnare Akihiko he jumped back as expected and was about to make snide remark about her foolishly weak technique. However it was Nanashi's turn to cut him off with a kidō, the bakudō straightened out aiming the #32 hadō directly at the large man's chest.
The look of surprise on her old master's face was priceless. While most would only have seen a slight eyebrow raise, Nanashi knew it was a true sign of surprise for him. As the smoke cleared Akihiko's laughter filled the empty halls, yet it was unlike any of his mocking laughs, this was a real laugh. " You cheeky little b**ch sewing your kidō together in such a way and look you actually burned my shirt. You may still have a ways to go before you can perform a complete incantation abandonment allowing you to not even need the type number or name. But you've proven your just nervous around me not that you lost your nerve." As he spoke Akihiko replaced his zanpakutō before muttering a hidō to summon Nanashi's. Though she watched him heal it his methods were well beyond her, this was very high level Kaidō.

Once Akihiko finished repairing her blade and passing one a method that Nanashi herself could use should a blade be damaged in such a way in the future, the former captain handed his student three other things; a letter to the head captain, the mantle he always wore as a sign of her succession, and a letter to the Kayaba Clan explaining his adoption of Nanashi. However while both letters held vital information he said no this other then who she was to give each to. The man she'd come to hate over the course of 500 years did something unexpected, with an almost kind expression he spoke to her. "Your a captain now, so you can't be this idiotic naive brute. Open your eyes learn some control and grow; I may have saved you this time but I won't get involved again. You've grown into a fine shinigami, and now its time to walk on your own, my daughter" Before she could respond to his words Akihiko was gone as was his barrier.
Nanashi was confused, angry and a billion other things in the wake of Akihiko's departure. Yet the one to take priority was anger as she screamed after him, "you b*****d!” Unbeknownst to the azure haired girl the lock on her necklace seal had also been broken allowing her to use her full power should it be removed, a power right now she wished to use against Akihiko. With a heavy sigh she recovered her gigai and headed for the equipment shed. There she and Hana hid the gigai and returned to the Seireitei to take down the Amatoki Clan
