With such a vast and different amount of books it's hard to know what books are worth reading and which ones you can give a miss to (not that there would be many to skip over!). When entering a book store I feel so overwhelmed with all the unique book covers, titles and blurbs that I forget what I was searching for. All my time could be lost in a library or book store simply through indecisiveness.
So I thought to myself why not create lists of my favourite books, series and authors along with my opinion of it. Perhaps some of you would have read them and you could also show your own lists.
Think of this as a somewhat book club but rather than all discussing one particular book, we discuss our favorites and hopefully provide more books for members to read. I know I could use a new list of 'to reads'! |♥|▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ •♥ + ♥• ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ |♥|

I wouldn't mind working on a book club. If that is something you are interested in doing. We can set up dates for discussion on the events page and maybe have a chat meeting in the Guild Chat!
My as of late favourite Titles:
The Malory Series by Johanna Lindsey Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling Paris by Edward Rutherford Battle Royal by Koushun Takami The Last Jew of Treblinka by (I'm researching but I forgot his name) Night by Elie Wisel
I love WWII books.

Prisoner of Azkaban I don't really have a favourite couple, but my fandom is ScorpiusxAlbus (Next Gen.) I loved Draco Malfoy. (Tom Felton = awesome actor) I love Azkaban. Nicely written, Excellent Movie. I love the time turner device.

It's hard to choose just a few favorite books, but I'll try.
I really love The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells. It's a very well-written book with intriguing characters. It's definitely a Victorian novel, so the plot progresses slower than what most people are used to, but it's an awesome story!
I also love Song of Roland, which is a French epic poem that was written in 830, and chronicles the death of Roland, Charlemagne's nephew, and his consequent revenge.
When listing my favorite books, I can't not mention Jurassic Park and Peter Pan.

It is a fictional telling of the History of Paris. It may interest you. I noticed you like a poem about the death of Roland. Although fictional it is told in a novel type way explaining the life of Paris citizens throughout the ages. It's $40 Canadian in hard copy at Indigo.

choosing a favorite book is a little bit hard. sweatdrop I do agree about having too many book with only a little time to spare. crying
here's my list so far. it's not ranked or categorized. it's just a list of the few best books I've encountered so far: 1. To Sleep with Evil by Andria Cardarelle 2. The Priest Graveyard by Ted Deker 3. Hannibal by Thomas Harris 4. Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli 5. Dr Brennan series by Kathy Reichs (22 books) 6. Dr Delaware series by Jonathan Kellerman (28 books) 5. Harry Potter by J.K 6. 50 shades by EL James 7. Hunger Games Series by Suzzane Collins
okay~ so far that will be the best books. and I still haven't read all the series by Kathy Reichs and Jonathan Kellerman but their works are soo great I assumed all of their series will be a blast.
and I'm still reading Tolkien's book, the matched series and gone girl. but I have a feeling that I'm starting not to like the gone girl book. i don't know despite it being all popular.

Okay, so I have to ask, what about 50 Shades landed it on your best book list? To be fair, I've only read the first 60 pages and a "let's read" by one of my favorite bloggers, but from what I've seen it seems to be pretty standard fanfic fare. And it's portrayal of BDSM and consent is all of the sketchy.
But to add to the conversation, here are a few of mine: 1) The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi (there's two more books by him that I have yet to read The Fractal Prince and The Causal Angel) 2) The Rook by Daniel O'Malley 3) Harry Potter (but of course. My favorite was Chamber of Secrets) 4) The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer 5) The Tain (Had to read it for my Med. Lit. class. and loved it)

You have an interesting list of books there. Both Quantum and Rook seems to have a nice plot. and I love the whole killing your other self before he/she kills you type of story. It seems a little bit psychological in the surface but I bet its more on fantasy and stuff. something I would really put on my list. In addition, i read that the house of Scorpion is a must read book. mrgreen mrgreen

The author actually really knows his science and all of the tech is equal parts fantastical and possible (in future terms at least). It can be disorienting sometimes, since you're left to figure things out with the character, but it's definitely a good read.
I read House of the Scorpion when I was very young, and it is written for the younger crowd. But it has a super awesome theme and touches on some really tough ideas about what makes a person a person, what is really good and evil, and what rights do we really have. It's surprisingly deep for a young adult novel and even after growing up, I still hold onto it.
