So in this new gold sink (har har), you can get a chance to have a cameo in the manga. I've wanted a cameo in the manga since 2005. But it's 25 billion gold, and I have nothing left to sell, except my Halo of Kannon. It's been a part of my avatar for a long time, and it's a memento of happier days on Gaia. It's also the one she gave me, so if I sell it, her gift is gone, and even if I get another one, it'll still be a different one.
On the one hand, I know it'd probably be good for me to let go of her, and I don't really need that one part of my avatar, whereas the rest is a) not worth even close to 25bil and b) integral to my look; if I sold them to buy a manga cameo raffle ticket, and won, I'd be drawn in what I was currently wearing, and it obviously wouldn't be this avatar. And I've craved a manga appearance since the year the manga even began, much longer ago than those happy times the halo is a keepsake from, and I definitely couldn't afford the last one (100mil was intense back then, and if you don't buy cash, it still is)...
On the other hand, it's still a precious keepsake, and no matter how much I know it's just an item and has no relevance and nothing's stopping me from remembering that time or her without it, it would still feel sad to get rid of it. Plus, it might not actually sell, at least not in time for the event to end. And...if I did put 25bil into that gold sink, Gaia would win. I'd be giving them what they want: participation in their ludicrous economy-validating bullshit. And I'm not so keen on letting Gaia have anything it wants from me anymore.
But I really want that possible cameo appearance... crying

Awwh. I don't know, it seems like a tight situation.
But you're right, it is just an item...
But if the item is from a special somebody, it's important to you and you should keep it.
Well, it really all comes down to a choice between a keepsake or something you've always wanted.
And that's not something I can really help with. gonk

Don't forget there's also the chance of NOT winning the raffle and NOT getting the cameo.
Yes, "you can't win if you don't play" and all that, just making sure all possible outcomes are accounted for.

She is a bittersweet part of my past. She shouldn't be important anymore. It's unhealthy. Too bad it symbolizes more than just a bygone, jinxed friendship. It was also a symbol of inclusion. I earned that halo, dammit...okay, by cracking a joke that turned out to be correct, but still. Aiee. *shakes head* It all boils down to a better time in my Gaian life, and aren't there other reminders all around me?
That said, I do know there's a chance I won't get it, especially with all the quintillionaires these days hunting for achievements...sigh. But if nothing else, I like to think I'm more equipped to deal with inevitable non-victory these days than I used to be. xp *shudders at memories*
I'm probably going to do it...

It seems like your feelings for that Halo is a complicated bunch, so I'm not sure if I can help you on that part... But concentrating on the other aspects of the problem:
- You really, really want a chance to be in the manga.
- You have to sell the Halo in order to afford the 25b entering fee.
- You don't want to support another gold sink which isn't really gonna help Gaia at all, just fill the pockets of our new beloved CEO.
In my opinion: Don't do it.
If it was a definite chance to be in the manga, then I'd say go ahead. You'll have to sell something that's dear to you, but at least you'll get something for it. But as it is now, the chance is incredibly, ridiculously small... It's much more likely that you'll end up hurt in two different ways. 1) You lost the Halo, and 2) You didn't even get to be in the manga. All these sacrifices for nothing, and by supporting something you don't believe in.
Chances are even that they'll handpick an avatar that they think looks the most interesting to put in the manga. Also, it's an "illustrated manga page", which could literally mean anything from a full page drawing to a small cameo in the background that you'll barely be able to notice. neutral
I don't want you to do something that you'll regret. And in this case, I don't think the prize justifies the risks. I hope I didn't come off as too much of a downer here, I'm honestly trying to help. sweatdrop
(Heck, if there was just a decent chance to win that manga-appearence, I'd gladly give you something from my own inventory that's worth 25b. Just so that you won't have to throw away something you treasure for something you'd been longing for...)

I see your points. I almost wish it were the top tier reward, just so that the drawing (if it is one) wouldn't be filled to the brim with achievement hunters...but god, I feel like I'd hate myself forever if I didn't try. I'm checking all my mules right now. Maybe I've got enough hidden away on them to afford this. I'm still on the fence about selling the halo, but I do want to enter this, more than anything. It always hurts to know I never even had a fraction of a chance.
As for feeding Gaia...I know contributing to the economy in any way whatsoever is giving them what they want, and I think after I do this, I'm done here. I'll socialize, maybe, but I'll stop buying and selling at all. I don't need to. I have an outfit. It's a good one. (I've got a shadow of an idea on how to strike them where it'll mean something, but I'd need something intangible that I definitely don't have, so I don't want to start blabbing about it yet. Not quite yet...)

*bounces anxiously* Four days left and I forgot how long it takes to wait for people to buy stuff! sad I don't even know if everything I've pilfered from my mules will reach even close to 25bil, but I have to try. I have to.
EDIT: Pretty sure it will, but I'm not gonna relax just yet. I don't think I'll want anything from Gaia ever again after this, though...not if I get what I've been dreaming of for nine years. (Which I probably won't, because of all the achievement-hunting quadrillionaires these days, but eh. Maybe trying and failing will give me closure!)

Um, the halo isn't worth 25bil (LMP is 13b). Even if you do sell it you're still not going to have enough.
Unless you want to ditch the reminder of her don't bother selling for a slim chance you can raise enough funds, for an even slimmer chance you will get a couple of manga pixels that resemble you.
