Basic Information
Name: Tsukiko Fujiwara
Gender: Female
Age: appears to be in her early twenties, but is around 420 years old
Race:Shinigami
Affiliation: Gotei 13, Onmitsukidō
Position/Rank: [To be edited by mod after an approved character applies for it.]
Personality: With a background as a shinobi it has been ingrained into Tsukiko to avoid notice if possible. She treat her superiors as she would the clan leaders of the Iga-ryū, with respect, and treats her life as expendable to be used for the good of the Soul Society. Tsukiko does everything to the best of her abilities no matter how small the task as everything is important in her eyes. While highly motivated she still enjoys the lazy days where she can sleep on the couch with no worries the most. Her friendship is difficult to gain, but Tsukiko is extremely loyal and devoted to her friends. Though, she often comes off as distant and much too serious to everyone but her friends.
History: Tsukiko entered the Soul Society with all her memories from her "living" life. Being born into one of the great shinobi clans of the Iga-ryū school she was trained in their arts. Hailed as a prodigy she advanced in the ranks swiftly. She served her clan until her death when the invasion of Iga occurred. As the civilians and trainees fled she stayed behind to buy them time to escape to the inner castles. She died bleeding out in the burning compound after taking down many of the hoard of swordsmen sent by Oda Nobukatsu. After her death she spent a small number of years as a plus watching the remnants of her family, all the while escaping from various Hollows and watching as her Chain of Fate corroded away, before she was sent to the Soul Society.
She arrived to the Soul Society in what would become the north eightieth district of Zaraki. It took a few days for her to get acclimated to the new environment. She noticed food was scarce and thought it was strange that no one seemed to eat anything. Wandering from each resting spot she could find was the way she kept safe from the rowdier residents, but her hunger began keeping her up after a while. She began to feel the lack of sustenance and rest testing her mettle, but on a day just like any other was a turning point for her life in the Rukongai. Brain addled from the lack of food and sleep she reacted harshly to what seemed like a pickpocket. A swift strike to the kidney sent the man to the ground and would have had him urinating blood for a week or two. Shaking her head she continued on with no care about the green haired man on the floor. However it would not be the last time they would cross paths.
A week after the meeting she was met with a little success in finding a few bits of food. Her wandering led her to the less populated part of the district. Not even a full hour in and she found a decent sized piece of bread in a pretty obvious rope trap. Hungry and exhausted she did not care about the trap and grabbed the bread and was swiftly caught in the trap. Upside down she munched on the bread while waiting for the trap setter to return. It turned out that the trapper was the pickpocket from the week prior. She ignored the insult as she was occupied by the bread. He offered her a deal she could not refuse, mainly because she couldn't really get down in the state she was in. They would work together to get to the better areas of the life they have landed in. That and for her not to kidney punch him after he let her down, but that was forgotten soon afterward. Landing in a sprawl they started their adventure to the top.
The coming years caused a great jump in amusement for her with their antics. The gang they ran for a time was a great portion of that amusement. It was unprofessional and unorganized, but she found herself enjoying it all the same. Fun as it was, all fun had to end at some point. Reynard disbanded the gang to set his sights on Shinōreijutsuin. Following Reynard lead them both to a quick admission to the academy.
Keeping her past memories and training was both a blessing and a curse. Tsukiko found herself flowing through her hakuda and kenjutsu classes with no trouble, but found herself uninterested in them only keeping herself from failing or bringing attention to herself. The Iga-ryū teachings gave her a much higher standing point than many of the students there so she focused on the things new to her. Kido, while new to her, was also almost ignored due to the overly flashy nature of the spiritual arts. Hoho and the informational classes were of the most interesting to her. The speed was exhilarating and was a way to keep undetected to a target. The information was interesting and was a must know for any shinigami.
As the six years came to a close Tsukiko requested to be placed in the 7th division and it was granted. Up until 80 years ago she was with the 7th division happily while refining her skills in hoho, hakuda and kenjutsu. She decided it was enough time hiding from herself and transferred to the 2nd division where she felt at home. Tsukiko rose up the ranks and surpassed her friend Reynard in promotion after she gained access to her Bankai, Jōshō hōō. She took up her duties with vigor and refused to hide from her history again.
Zanpakuto Information
Name: Nishi hōō
Sealed Appearance: Nishi hōō takes the form of a ninjato with a wooden sheath and handle. The blade is black and non-reflective making it useful for stealth.
Release Command: Blaze Nishi hōō
Shikai Appearance: Nishi hōō shifts to a katana when in shikai. It keeps it's black coloring, but the texture and the look of the blade is more akin to ash than metal.
Shikai Techniques/Abilities
- [Ash of Phoenix]: The ash blade of Nishi hōō is heated to the point that it can instantly cauterize wounds it inflicts. The ash of the blade serves its other purpose when it comes into contact with the blood of the victim. It causes the person to not feel or notice the wound that they have taken until they either see it or try to move the afflicted area.
Bankai Status: Achieved
Bankai Name: Jōshō hōō
Bankai Appearance: Jōshō hōō is a naginata with the blade being all but a shimmer of heat in the air. The shaft seems to be a simple and plain white staff.
Bankai Techniques/Abilities
- [Wings of Beginning Flames]: While in bankai Tsukiko gains use of a fire so hot it burns anything that attempts to pierce it. The fire takes the shape of a pair of bird wings attached to her back. The fire cannot spread and keeps its shape as a constant. Things burned by the wings are converted into pure Reishi to be used for [Rising Sun]. Tsukiko is able to convert one major object to Reishi per post such as a limb, zanpakuto, or kido number 60 and up. After the first major object, those that follow afterward are treated with normal burns. Unfortunately these wings cut her speed down significantly as they have a weight, heft, and wind drag that appose shunpo.
- [Rising Sun]: This is the main ability for Jōshō hōō, as it signifies the rebirth of a phoenix. After taking a significant amount of damage her zanpakuto instantly shrouds her in a solid barrier composed of the fire from the [Wings of Beginning Flames] and takes the energy held within the wings and uses it to bring her back to full capacity. While her own flames cannot hurt her, she is still effected by other sources. The [Rising Sun] can only be used once every day after the sun rises in the horizon. This ability requires at least 5 posts of her Bankai being active and gathering Reishi in order to take effect. After the regeneration effect, the excess Reishi is used to form an explosion with her at the epicenter. The explosion increases in size and intensity for each post after the initial five of Tsukiko using [Wings of Beginning Flames].
- [Touch of the Phoenix]: Tsukiko's naginata does not deal damage to non-vital areas of her opponent's body. Instead, ill will pass through their skin and flesh, only damaging internal organs, eyes, bones, and tendons. As a result, the attacks appear to not have affected her victim. In addition, the wounds cannot be felt until the afflicted area is moved.
Combat Information
Specialization: Tsukiko is at her best in close quarters combat and stealth.
Known Techniques/Skills
Hakuda: master - Tsukiko's hand to hand focuses on strikes to vital areas, redirection, and using the attacker's force against them. It is a mainly reactionary fighting style with minimal wasted movement. When on the offensive she goes for quick and potentially fight ending shots rather than drag out the fight.
Zanjutsu: expert - Her sealed sword style focuses on attacking the vulnerable spots of the enemy or to cut them enough to cause them to bleed out, this is enhanced by her speed which allow her to attack in many directions swiftly. Her fighting style changes when in bankai as her decreased speed and change in weapon type forces her to be much more defensive.
Kido: user - She is capable of using a small amount of kido up to number 39 in bakudo and up to 54 in hado, but rarely if ever uses it.
Hoho: master - Finding this branch of the shinigami arts to be the most interesting, she poured a majority of her efforts to gain proficiency. For her efforts, Tsukiko came to be one of the faster users of shunpo and is in the upper tiers of speed in the Soul Society. She has access to the Utsusemi and speed clone techniques.
Other Information:
Tsukiko is able to suppress her energies to decrease detection chances while out in the field.
