In the year 20XX, a planet far off Earth's galaxy stood in the wake. The planet is small enough to harbor one continent, yet strong enough to survive this long without ever faltering. Most believe it is because the planet has already rotten to the core, slowly dying from the inside. The current ruler has brought havoc to this Kingdom and has caused morale to drop rapidly. His tyranny led to the the entire Kingdom reverting to petty actions such as robbery or murder. But this was action going on out side the castle which was out of Ethika's knowledge and reach at the time. The happenings inside the walls of the castle will be the setting of her origin story, starting from her younger years.

”Once upon a time, there was a planet of magic and non magic users living together in peace. There were ghouls and goblins helping those in need, vampires and werewolves living together, even angels and demons hand in hand. It was a world of harmony and co-existence. Among those magical creatures rose Man. An average, non-magic user, with average knowledge and strength; he was neither bad nor good, neither strong nor weak; but he was, however, ignorant. Man was ignorant and needed others to educate him. So all the supernatural creature took the liberty in teaching Man all of their gained knowledge over the many years they have lived. With this knowledge, Man developed a new race of magic practitioners, called Witches.
Aware of this new strength, Man decided that the other supernatural beings were no longer needed and disregarded them. Enraged by this sudden act of insolence, the supernatural beings banded together and waged war on Man. The war lasted centuries until the Wise Ones came to a conclusion that the war would never end unless they were separated. With this, they decided to remove the problem from it source by taking the Witches and sending them off to a planet Galaxies away from Earth. Then, with their divine power, the Wise Ones erased all Man’s knowledge, returned the Earth to its original form, and left them to start from scratch. To the supernatural beings, the Wise Ones said, “You are not to get involved, let us first observe to see how they grow without our help. When Man grows wise enough, we shall attempt to re-unite our races once more.”
Following their orders, the supernatural beings stayed in the shadows, and only very few times were they caught. From the times they were spotted grew Folk Tales and gruesome stories of their kind. And on that forgotten planet Galaxies away, the Witches grew a Monarchy, led by the first whom discovered Magic. He dubbed himself King, and then single-handedly created his kingdom from the scraps of the planet he named Nyxillia. His people followed his fair and respectable laws, and the small group stayed a reasonable size for many centuries. They soon developed a smooth working, well organized community that slowly made Nyxillia into the most beautiful planet in history. The people were happy, the planet was bright, and the spirits that lived in the forest were gentle and kind. The First King, Demetrius Hellgate, courted the First Queen, in his reign. She was known among the people as the Queen of Light not only because of her radiant beauty and poise, but because of her pure and kind heart; she could light up the darkest room with her smile. “
”Mommy, what was the Queen of Light’s name?” My baby asked as I gently brushed her hair.
”Her name, my sweet, was Ethika Hellgate. She was the greatest Queen of Nyxillia, and the second Strongest of the land.” ”Who was the first?”
”The King of course, but that was only because he had an early start.” I snickered, ”But that is enough for tonight! The forest has silenced, so it is time for us to sleep.”
With a nod she got up from her tiny stool and jogged over to the bed, the soft pitter-patter of her tiny feet echoed through the silent room. Struggling to climb into the king-sized bed, she finally hauled herself up on the third try and hurried to snuggle into the quilt as I slowly lay beside her. Once covered, she wiggled closer to me so her back was pressed against my chest; I wrapped my arm around her and kissed the top of her head. With a yawn, I was so close to being enveloped into sleep before the questions came, as usual.
”Mommy,” Her soft voice whispered a tone even quieter than her average voice. ”Yes?” I whispered just as low. ”When you spoke of King Demetrius’ reign, you said the Spirits of the Forest were gentle and kind… “ ”Mhm,” I pressed, despite knowing where she was going. ”But then why are the Spirits of the Forest feared now?”
I smiled at the carefully phrased question, she could have asked why the spirits were ‘evil’ or why they attack others, but instead she asked it in a way that left no room for argument. She will make a great Queen someday.
With a soft sigh, I answered ”The current King is not leading his Kingdom as the Spirits think he should. They are upset with him and his arrogance, but this ignorant King is too blind to see that his ways are wrong, so the Spirits are angered. But they are feared by the people because many have died in the forest. The First King’s Reign taught children that the forest is not evil, but sacred—it is what keeps this planet alive—and when you enter the forest with an impure soul, you could put yourself at risk.” ”But—” I rolled my eyes playfully as she turned to me with a serious look. My, what an curious one she is. ”What do you mean, impure?”
”Those who enter that seek money, power, revenge, fame or anything low like that. Not to fret my dear, the spirits are very forgiving. But many have died because they try to harm these beautiful spirits; they are just defending themselves.”
As she opened her mouth to ask more, I quickly interrupted. ”But I shall explain more tomorrow, for now it is time to rest your eyes, my dear.” I hushed.
After some thought she obediently closed her eyes. I blew out the candle, and watched the room grow dark. With a final kiss on her forehead, I let myself drift into long awaited slumber, ”Good Night, Ethika.”
