Undina stood on the cliffside feeling the rush of water scented air roll over her. Here was where she belonged. A small smile played on her lips. A noise got her attention, some twigs crackling, her head spun to the small copse of pine trees that she stood by. A small furry rodent hopped from branch to branch chasing his mate or rival, the pair made a horrendous racket for tiny mammals. She wondered if it was just squirrels or if there were other creatures over there, she went to take a peek.

Kieran walked along the path he had found in the forest. He wanted a break from the water since he had been spending all of his time there. He loved being by it but wanted a change of pace and scenery. He stepped off of the path and looked around. The trees here were nice and they had a lovely scent. He continued to walk and then he caught sight of the cliffside. He saw the mare there and she was gorgeous. He stepped closer but stayed out of sight. No need to frighten such a pretty girl with his looks. Better to stand here and watch than go over and try to talk to her. He would freak her out he knew he didn't look like others did. He might be fine with his looks but others tended to run the other way. His lantern, spines, and tusks tended to make people freak out. She was such a pretty girl and he watched her the light played across the bright colors on her. The blue caught his eyes and he smiled.

As it turned out it was squirrels, she sighed. A flash of yellow caught her eye and she turned in that direction. "Oh hello there!" She called. Well he was certainly different looking and handsome to boot. He reminded her of something aquatic and that was coincidentally her favorite kind of creature. Fins, fangs, and a bauble oh my!
She danced over to him, her beautiful melodic voice swirling out before her. "A pleasure good sir, what brings you to this summit? Come for the view as I have?"

Kieran jumped when she started to walk over here. Damn his bright colors made it so hard to blend in. He sighed and smiled at her waiting for the freak out. "Hello there lovely lady." He shifted his weight from foot to foot and his lantern bobbed as he moved. He watched her approach and tried to move to keep his fangs hidden so at least maybe they wouldn't scare her. He watched her dance over and listened to her gorgeous melodic voice. So pretty.
"Well I'm here just to explore. I wanted a bit of a break from the ocean and a change in scenery." His voice was low and husky as he spoke.

She giggled, "Well you didn't get very far, although I see why you didn't the view from these cliffs is astounding." She breathed in the salty sea air and admired the stallion before her. "You are rather gorgeous you know," she inched closer and stretched her nose up to poke at the lantern. "That has got to be the coolest thing...does it glow in the dark? Can you see in the dark? I wish I could I'm too chicken to fly at night but that is when the air is the best."
She tilted her head waiting for his answer. Fascinating stallion. Maybe there was a whole herd of them out there somewhere among the waves and tide pools. "Are there more of you out there?"

He just stared at her in shock. He shrugged. "Well I haven't been up for that long so it's no surprise I haven't gotten far from the sea." He smiled at her. "I didn't go to the cliffs yet." He looked down at her and frowned as she stared up at him. Why was she staring up at him? It made no sense to him. Unless she was trying to figure out how to tell him she thought he was ugly or repulsive. His mouth fell open when she said that. "What?" He shook his head. "No I'm not." He stood very still as she inched closer and touched his lantern. "Hey be careful with that it is attached to me." He sighed. "Yes it glows in the dark. So yes I can see and it helps to attract prey to me." He frowned. "why won't you fly in the dark? What are you afraid of?"
He shifted form foot to foot not sure why she was still here. He was uncomfortable with her staring at him like that. He looked away. "No. I'm the only one."

She blinked. "Oh I'm so sorry, I'm being weird arn't I? I know its attatched, thats what makes it so interesting. I'm scared of hitting mountains or trees when I fly at night, a broken wing and I'm toast you know. If you haven't seen the view from the cliffs, come over her and i will show you," she nudged his shoulder gently. It was huge with muscle. Hmmm dreamy~
"I'm the only one of me to, unless you count siblings," she grinned at him. Meeting him felt like the wonder of life blazing before her all over again. She was a tad giddy. New azrein who were this polite and kind were always fun. And considering he didn't flatten her for touching that awesome lantern he was kind. She occastionally overstepped her bounds but he was so INTERESTING, she just couldn't help it.

Kieran saw her blink and looked away as she apologized. "It's alright no need to be sorry just be careful with it. It's very delicate." He frowned at her. "How does that make it so interesting?" He then chuckled. "Well just don't hit them. How about you fly on a night with a full moon that way you have more light when you fly." She was so loud and fast. It was so strange he wasn't sure he could keep up with everything she had to say. And she was throwing so much into her statements. He felt her nudge his shoulder and flattened his spines so they didn't poke her. "Oh ok. Sure." Strange mare.
He laughed. "Then you're not the only one. There are no others like me. I have no siblings." He smiled at her when she grinned back. She was just so strange what the heck was up with her? And why was she staying so close? He made sure to keep the spines flattened against him. That was the last thing he needed to stab her with one.

"See?" she said as they walked to the cliffs, then able to see the ocean stretch out far to the horizon, "Isn't it beautiful? Pity my feathers don't work so well soggy." She hopped off the edge and floated on an updraft. Making a lazy circle her hooves touched back down on the cliff. "Its fun."
"What is it like in the sea? Oh and my name is Undina Scylla"

He stared at her and then at the view. Out of the two she was much prettier than the view. He liked her better than it. Much better. But he looked out over the view. He nodded. "Yeah it is beautiful." He tilted his head. "Do you go in the water?" He watched her hop off the edge and freaked out for a second but then he saw her flying and relaxed. He watched her fly around and looked at her.
He shrugged. "It's lovely and cool ad strong. The magic of the ocean and the songs there." He looked at her. "Kieran." Then he paused she had given him her full name. "Kieran Duff. It's a pleasure to meet you mis Undina Scylla."

"I love the water but I only go in when I know I don't have to fly for a few hours later. My feathers take forever to dry out and when I try when they are wet I get rediculously tired. So you said there were not like you...do you have friends down there?"
Where had this stallion been that he had no family? It seemed odd to her because she had a rather large and complicated one, missing now a mother whom she had never got to meet but her half brother had reproduced many times making for a huge family.

Kieran smiled at her though he was very confused still. She was so odd. He chuckled as she spoke. "Ah well I don't have any feathers on me so I don't have to worry about things like that. I don't really have friends. Most people see me and run screaming the other direction trying to get away as fast as they possibly can. So no. No friends. How about you?"
He watched her. She was so different and strange. What was she? He had never met anyone like her. Such an odd mare. He shrugged and continued to watch the odd mare.

She tilted her head at him, yes he was different but he was so sexy too, the others really had no idea.
'Um well I have lots of family slash aquiantences but no real friends that are not related i don't think in some way. I have been rather alone for a while. I don't see my siblings much, probably because of where I live up here by the cliffs but I like it here. That they do not wish to visit because of wind and weather is not my problem."

Kieran looked at her as she tilted her head. She was such a strange mare. He wished he knew what she was thinking but there was no way for him to be able to do that. He just smiled at her more.
He listened to her and grinned. "Well that must be very nice to have such a large family. I'm sorry you don't have many friends but I am shocked to hear that. I'd think you'd have tons of friends and a mate. Do you not have a mate?" He was shocked to think she didn't. "I'm sorry being alone is not always very nice. It can get lonely. The cliffs are very nice and have some of the best views." He moved a bit but was very careful not to let his spines hurt her. "What's wrong with the weather here?"
