Cecil was always a very stubborn child, being one to argue with his family and
stick to the thing he's been fighting for, even if it may be wrong. His unyielding stubbornness has gotten him into more than one scrap with especially with his brother and people around town. To add to his problems, he has a really insatiable curiosity... or shall I say, nosiness. He has the worst habit of sticking his nose into other people's affairs. Now mix this all with a bit of impish mischief and you have Cecil's negative traits. He usually means well.
He's a very compassionate soul and, despite his often delinquent behavior, does want for the best and has a moral code. He does have a rebellious streak, being that he is something of a foolhardy and reckless
person and he has done things that he didn't think about or didn't expect consequences for. He's really never been one for thinking ahead.
History:
The Alma family are a long line of farmers, their land is large and is generally passed down from generation to generation. Cecil was born the middle child to this family, however his birth was not exactly a happy one. To explain a bit, his mother wasn't unhappy that she was having a second child, she was elated to be having another child, long before she had been told she'd be unable to have children and to have two was her greatest dream. However, his birth marked his mother's death. He was born small and with the 'deformity' of differently colored eyes.
Cecil was named after his mother who was named Cecilia. His brother Edgar, was somewhat bitter toward Cecil for a long time, due to feeling that it was Cecil's fault their mother died. When their father let Edgar hold him for the first time though, after many days of careful and tender care. Cecil was fragile, small and very clingy. This swept away most of the bitterness Edgar had and replaced it with a need to care for his tiny younger brother. After many years, Cecil's father did remarry, he married a blacksmith's daughter named Cordelia who was known as one of the toughest but most beautiful women in town.
Cecil was around 5 when the wedding took place. Though Cordelia was at first perturbed by his strange eyes she came to accept him as part of her family. Due to the special care from all his family, he did become somewhat hard headed, gaining a "If I fall, there will always be someone there to catch me, so I'll be fine," kind of mindset. This was the beginning of his reckless and nosy streak.
He became something of a troublemaker. He had at one point stolen things, argued with other land owners and even started fights with other citizens. Although it wasn't his intention to be trouble initially the thrill left him craving more and by ten he'd become a local delinquent, much to his family's dismay. He shirked his chores at times in favor of doing other things. His father wasn't sure what to do with him, since he stubbornly clung to this life style and even went as far as fighting both parents. It was Cecil's stepmother that recommended he be shipped off to the blacksmith to work with her father. Though she felt she could handle Cecil, she knew her methods would upset Cecil's father who was really too kind for his own good.
So, he began work with his grandfather at the forge. At first he was excited, however he soon learned that his grandfather wouldn't let him get away with as much as his sweet father had and he hated it. All of a sudden he was being watched like a hawk, punished when he did something wrong and it was very hard the first little while. Over time he did sort of get used to the iron fist
of the forge and learn to be a good smith.
His interest in joining the military came when he was around fifteen. During a route of picking up groceries for his grandfather at the forge, he was privy to the parade that lead the surviving survey corpse into the city. He was horrified by the mutilation and death that had come from the outside. One of them was a local girl's father who had been killed by a titan. It struck fear into his heart, though he believed the wall would never be broken, he still feared that those he loved may some day end up like that girl's father.
He joined with the idea of becoming the best and hopes to be a shield for those who he cared for.
