WTPG: Chapter 1 Recap
*Character Introduction: Zedd, Alex, Quentin (NPC), Rose, Zen, Bloody, Marie, and Petra (NPC).
--Zedd and Quentin (NPC) start off in his home on Azalea court; Zedd is tending to the garden, Quentin is more-or-less helping.
--Alex starts off in the kitchen of Zedd’s home; he’s preparing breakfast.
--Bloody starts off in her office at the Clock Tower; she’s brooding about the past (briefly), hurling knives at a dartboard, and taking up assassination contracts.
--Rose and Zen start off in her medical office; Rose is performing some minor maintenance to Zen’s inner mechanism.
--Marie and Petra (NPC) start off in a carriage on Ezra’s streets.
--Constantine starts off in his workshop at the Clock Tower; he’s working on his latest project.
*Bloody calls Dr. Dalphina with a ‘job’, which the doctor accepts.
*After his appointment, Zen heads for his bar The Wild Rose.
*Marie and Petra (NPC) are headed for The Wild Rose to “start” the day.
*Archie visits pays a visit to Zedd and joins him for breakfast; Alex provides another table setting and is later introduced to Archie.
*Marie and Petra (NPC) arrive at The Wild Rose, where Zen joins them for a little morning conversation.
*After printing out Dr. Dalphina’s contract, Bloody heads for her favorite tea house Divine Tea. She reflects on her past and is proud to call herself one of the most prestigious assassination firms in Bernadine.
*Archie places a poppy on the table. The Poppy means a summoning. Zedd refuses to accept it. Archie then tells Zedd that Levi’s cancer’s returned. Since there isn’t much time, Zedd should pay him a visit. With that said, Archie then leaves Zedd to meditate on this bit of information.
*Zedd prepares for the rest of the day; Alex carries on with a few more duties before assisting Zedd. During this time, they engage in idle conversation: his attire, nosy neighbors, the house staff, etc. At this time, Zedd the jokes that he would give Mrs. Abernathy something to talk about, more or less hinting at his own sexuality; Alex dutifully responds that he would help fulfill his master’s wishes as best that he can. Zedd asks, “Just how would you do that?” Then Alex tells him that he was just “jesting” and apologizes for failing to amuse employer. Taking this to be a genuine answer, Zedd tells Alex that the fault was his own then dismisses the butler.
*Constantine contacts Bloody and raves about his latest invention (combative armor). Constantine didn’t get very far when Bloody tells him that their conversation would continue when she returns to the Clock Tower; Archie shows up.
*Archie finds Bloody at Divine Tea, presents the Poppy to her, and tells her of Levi’s cancer. She causes a scene and refuses to accept the summoning. Archie tells her the Poppy is an invitation to say goodbye to her mentor, then leaves. After meeting with Archie, Bloody heads back to the Clock Tower and calls Constantine on the way; she asks if his latest project is suitable for concealment, but Constantine says it isn’t likely (the armor, though light, is still a bit bulky). After reaching the Clock Tower, Bloody is crippled by the memories of her time at the Poppy House, has a breakdown, and calls Dr. Dalphina for counseling.
*Zen, Petra (NPC), and Marie still carry on with their conversation: weddings, flowers, etc. Eventually, the topic is brought to the proprietor of The Ivory Dahlia, Zedd. After realizing, the time Marie and Petra (NPC) bid Zen a good day and rush to The Ivory Dahlia. (This is the last we see of Marie for a while.) Out of courtesy, Zen offers them a carriage to take them to their destination.
*Zedd arrives at the Cookie Jar (with Quentin and Alex) to meet with its proprietor (Cookie). He disappears into the shop for a bit then reappears with a box of pastries in hand. Cookie then confuses Alex for one of Zedd’s previous butlers; the matter is quickly clarified and introductions ensue. After a cryptic conversation with Cookie about an order, Zedd then instructs Alex to deliver the pastry box to Ellswich, to the house on Sweeney and Todd. Zedd heads for The Ivory Dahlia on foot.
*With Dr. Dalphina’s help Bloody finds her resolve and decides to return to the Poppy House as a favor to Archie. She instructs the doctor and Constantine to prepare for the trip. Constantine has reservations about the trip, but Bloody talks with him; Constantine later agrees to go along on the condition that he be given time to prepare. Meanwhile, Dr. Dalphina prepares for the trip then heads for the journey then heads to The Wild Rose; there she asks Zen to keep an eye on The Clock Tower in their absence.
*Character Introduction: Trikks.
*After of taking botched directions from Quentin, Alex arrives at the house on Sweeney and Todd and distributes the pastries among its residence. He’s then directed to the second floor and knocks on a door with the tiramisu box in hand. Seconds later, Trikks greets Alex at gun-point. Complying with her demands, Alex reluctantly submits to a pat-down and food-tasting (tiramisu); meanwhile, Quentin is exploring Trikks’ belongings. Satisfied that Alex is no one suspicious, Trikks eats the tiramisu; after a moment, Alex witnesses Trikks shed a tear, though he’s not quite sure what to make of it. A noise catching Trikks attention and she see that Quentin is holding an object in his prongs. She startles him and he drops the object; it crashes on the floor. Then Trikks notices that Alex’s transportation (folding bike) has been stolen, so she offers him a ride back to the city on her monowheel. Upon arriving at the Cookie Jar, Trikks tells Alex that the tiramisu didn’t have enough sugar. Just before turning away, Alex asks if he’ll be met with a similar greeting during his next visit; Trikks tells him that she won’t expect him to hold back if that was the case next time.
*Dr. Dalphina notices that time got away from her and heads back to the Clock Tower. There, she apologizes. Bloody then heads down to the workshop to see if Constantine is ready; he is. The she makes a quick call to the doctor and says that they’ll be making the trip in one of Constantine’s flying machines. Afterward, she hands him her weaponized bracelets; Constatine diagnoses the problem and tell her that he’ll get them working once they’re up in the air. They all head for the garage more or less at the same time, where a small zeppelin is housed. While Constantine warms up the engine, Bloody and the doctor board. (Chapter ends here.)
*Zedd and Alex are now at home, with the butler standing by the Gardener eats his dinner. Afterward, Zedd asks how the delivery went; Alex tells him that the residence seemed to enjoy the donation and that Trikks mentioned there wasn’t enough sugar. After some thought, Zedd thanks Alex and tells him that he’ll be taking tea in the study. Alex then sees to a few minor tasks before sitting down to his own dinner. Meanwhile, Zedd calls Archie for a favor; Archie gives him tells him “I’ll give you two favors, for one”. Zedd then tells Alex to start making preparations for a trip to Annalyn before placing Marie in charge of The Ivory Dahlia for a week. Alex goes off to pack and make the traveling arrangements. After the documentation settled, Zedd then heads off to do his own packing, while speaking with Trikks and assigning her to take care of all the jobs he couldn’t get to; Trikks accepts the jobs. Among the items packs is a cello case. Quentin somehow catches wind of the journey and is eager to go, but Zedd instructs him to stay home; Quentin reluctantly does so. Scene ends with Zedd heading out of the door. (Chapter ends here.)
