• Joushi's return to the hotel was uneventful, walking the main roads, under the bright street lights. The hotel's face was light up from tiny spotlights, showing off its grand ediface and reputation. Entering the main lobby Joushi only needed to make a single turn to reach the adjoining restarant, quickly being shown to a table near the wide, grand entrance, allowing Joushi perfect view of most of the lobby. It was getting late, and some students were already in their third exam. Joushi wouldn't be surprised if no one from the Academy passed by the Dragoon's field of view during this meal. The waiter had pulled out the two seats for Joushi and Kit both to rest in, allowing them to sit opposit each other over the ornate table. It wasn't a grand a dining establishment as the one Joushi had just returned from, but it seemed respectable enough to produce high a quality meal. Both the Beast Charmer and Byakko sat with a graceful and strong air, even with heads bowed slightly to read the offered menus. The Byakko's was laid to rest in front of her, but the movements of any intelligent creature, she carefully and successfully pried open the book with a single paw, giving off nothing but an air of confidence in the action.
"We'd best avoid heavier foods, in preperation for tomorrow." Joushi began, talking casually for the appearance rather than in a reminder. As a rule the two generally avoided heavy foods, even taking a careful limit of their sweets. It was just one of the many precautions they had to take in keeping their lives for that extra day and thus bolstering their odds of survival. "Speaking of, we'd best go over what we are aware of in terms of our opponent." The dragoon added. It had been barely a minute and Joushi had already decided on an item. Kit flick her eyes up to her master, a tail singing gently off the side of the chair, before looking back down to the menu.
"When we first encountered him, it was at the Academy's gymnasium..." The pink haired Italian began to recall. "During the Hobgoblin attack he physically manhandled many of them, showing martial art training."
"Thus," Byakko spoke up. "I should avoid anything he can grab." Her master nodded. The words were soft and calm, calculating but unrushed. They took their time.
"It wasn't long, however, before he began to use a staff as a weapon, showing adaptability. He may even carry such weapons on him, or make use of environmental objects to fill that role. And, of course, there is his demonic abilities."
"We both know he is of kin." Kit spoke up. Finished with the menu she finally turned her long snout up, golden eyes gazing at her master peacefully.
"Yet he holds little, if not all of the knowldge of our own abilities." The Dragoon mused. "He is aware of you ability to transform. And of my affinity with firearms. But not all of them. Just the machine gun and handgun. Unless he has had heard of me otherwise." Jou gave a small sigh. "I've also seen him use Verse against Ignazio. Furthering my point on his versitility."The Dragoon turned green eyes properly on the Byakko seated opposite, looking over the table and centerpiece of fresh, real flowers. "Truly, I much prefer the simplicity of human targets." The demon closed her golden eyes.
"As do I." Kit conceeded. "Our work in Italy, while simply, is much more satisfying. And fun. We can play so much more with our targets with less fear of injury."
"In time, Kit." Jou continued. "Soon the mid year break and then the end of the year. Following, we only have one more year. Less if we feel like standing out and attempt an early promotion." Kit huffed through her maw. "Indeed, not an idea I intend to follow unless necessary. Keeping low profiles are far more relaxing. And less troublesome."
"Then," The Byakko spoke up, voice still quiet. "We will return to Italy? Or do you so highly aim for service under Ignazio's care?"
"Hmm," The pink haired Italian mused. "I hold little future plans around service under his name, if only for the liklihood his father would kill us both on sight, if not have me killed anyway if informed of my previous work under his heir."
"A candycane indeed." The Kit interjected. The unexpected words caused Joushi to smile, only the pair of them knowing what was meant by such a statement. It was a code of sorts that they used in response to knowing the price of information, and how easily it can be caught, duplicated, and spread.

❝I am Beast Charmer and Dragoon. I am Heir to the very wind caressing you.❞
Titus flames raged on as the Kurikara stayed unsheathed in his hand. He kept his sights on the Barthomeloi head sitting down, who had been watching him in awe. Truthfully, the young half breed thought it was sick; Someone who enjoyed the look of the flames of creation. As the man clad in crimson stood up from his seat, Titus sheathed the blade, leaving only the black tail, pointed ears and sharpened teeth as proof that he was the son of satan. The young man clenched the Kurikara by the sheathe as he turned to look at the brown haired male.
Titus' brow rose as the Barthomeloi head spoke of the next exam. 'Another demon? That uses flames?' When the silver haired half breed heard "her", he could only think of one person. However, he kept his guess to himself. As the man was about to leave the room, he spoke threats which caused Titus' brow to furrow. He had no choice but to use his flames to win, because not only would the other "demon" would be killed, but he would be as well. It was obvioud to him what he had to do. There was a little incentive at the end of the threat as well if he ended up winning. As the Barthomeloi called him out from the hallway the young man clicked his tongue. He sat on his bed, laying the Kurikara beside him, and putting his hands to his head. So many thoughts rushed through his head as he felt the pressure of the Barthomeloi head's words. 'Dammit...'
A few moments after Ignazio left his room, a man entered the room, holding a manilla enevelope that was obviously linked to the third exam. Titus looked up from his seat on the bed, and got up to retrieve the enevelope from the spot the person had placed it. He unwrapped its contents and read it carefully. He would be considered as a Middle Class exorcist if he could win this match, a good thing in his case. Looking at the papers some more, his eyes widened shortly before he began to grip onto the information so tightly that the pages were now becoming crumpled. He paused for a moment, and began chuckling. Chuckling became full on laughter, with him looking toward the ceiling. "Of course it would be her. I've yet to hear of anyone else controlling fire..." His smile became a straight faced look of sorts, as he began to prepare for battle. He did not have much time to get to where he needed to be, and failing the exam because of being late would not be the best feeling for him.
The young man geared up and ready for combat stretched for a moment as he made sure he had what he needed. He felt that any other equipment would be unnecessary, and left said equipment in his bag. He did bring the combat belt since it was light, and was a holster for his sword. With one last look over of the room, the man picked up the Kurikara and put it in its place. The door was broken down which was a cause for concern that he had forgotten to ask about. Scratching his head, he walked away from the room, not caring for the room.
After a minute or two, the young man was outside of the hotel, gazing into the night sky. He took a deep breath, and then began to walk toward his destination.

After being depressed for a few moments, Ignazio found himself sitting on the edge of his bed watching the battles, and soon noticed as Titus appeared to his location. Ignazio took notice at the weapon he was wielding and remember Lloyd mentioned something about the weapon awhile back, during the time they went to investigate the strange howls around the school. ”Is he planning on using his flames?” Ignazio questioned, before a crashing sound caught his attention and then he turned his eyes to the left and caught Lloyd’s own battle. He had successfully dodged the thread of Qi coming towards him and began to use the trees as a stepping stone. ”Amazing! Way to go Lloydo! That’s using your head!” the male cheered from his bed standing up and holding a fist in the air. Ignazio had a large smile on his face, that seemed to show no signs of vanishing. The match had just started a few minutes prior, and it was already heating up. Lloyd just needed to get within striking range and the match was as good as his. But there was the small fact he’d have to dodge a poison blade. ”Wait a second…I just remembered, her blade is a double edge sword. The tip is poisoned! s**t, Lloyd you better be faster than her. If not, she’s going to have you like a fly you’ve become in this match.” Ignazio was getting fired up over the match, he couldn’t help but be excited. He had fought Alexandria once when he had first started off at the Academy with Garuda and managed to defeat her thanks to the Pazuzu’s skills. But that was different for a human. Lloyd couldn’t create barriers of wind, or had the sight of a Pazuzu. At the very least he was lucky that the girl was limited to poison from her blade and nothing airborne or not only would he be affected but his familiars as well.
This match was getting interesting and the one for Titus and Akemi was just getting started. Ignazio tapped on the floating screen on the proctor and a separate screen lit up next to it. A small amount of information on the male appeared before Ignazio and he began to read it out loud to himself. ”Priest, Genjoy Sanzo; it says here he’s a priest from China. He’s twenty-five years old, and is a master Aria and marksman. He’s been called a Demon Slayer throughout the order.” Ignazio said as he scrolled along the projection glancing over the information. ”So he has a personal grudge against demons, and he’s more than likely the only middle class exorcist that specializes in dealing with demons like Akemi and Titus; the fact he’s published so many demon theories on demonic magic and is one of the five high priest in China shows that he’s more than skilled. But I guess age plays a part in his ranking.” Ignazio muttered to himself as closed the window and looked carefully at the monk and then at Titus who was prepared to fight and even draw his sword. Ignazio listened to the words the priest said about the Miasma and couldn’t help but laugh. ”Low grade miasma that’s flammable, there’s no such thing. That means the miasma itself is the barrier. It must have a trigger…which is…it must be the demonic flames. That’s an interesting skill. I would have missed that if it wasn’t for his background and smoking habit.” the male said, and right when he mentioned his theory it was confirmed as the priest brought out his box of cigarettes and placed one in his mouth. The male smirked at the screen and snapped his fingers. ”Yahoo! Score one for the Iggster!” Ignazio called out as he held out two fingers for Victory and laughed a little to himself before flipping his hair from his eyes and crossing his arms under his chest. ”Man, this exam is going to be a piece of cake for me since I get to monitor all my potential opponents, but that also means, the others will get the same chance when it’s time for my first battle.” Ignazio said as he calmed himself down and began to focus again. He started to pounder to himself about the potential threats he could go through but then sighed and shook his head from left to right. ”I guess it can’t be helped. I’ll win that prize money for sure!” he yelled as he began to pump himself up once again.
• Joushi's phone was vibrating on the side table, it's solid body rattling against the solid wood and adding to the volume. The plastic case and attached plethora of silicon and clay charms shaped into various Eastern and Western sweets and desserts also added to the level of noise. The vibrations travelled down through the phone's case and the lanyards the charms were attached to to make them shake in tandem as well, shivering the pastel and glazed bodies against each other and the table. Calmly, a hand reached out, adorned with simple, yet expensive, silver rings, to take hold of the device and pick it up, dragging the charms behind and thus causing their dance to ease and settle. With a tap of a finger Joushi caused the phone to settle and go silent before set back down onto the table. The rustling of fabric sliding could be heard as the pink haired Italian sat up in bed, swinging long legs over one side and swiftly standing. There the Dragoon paused to stretch, slowly working each muscle from neck to toes, rolling the head, the shoulders, pulling arms up and over. Joushi even settled on the floor in order to properly work stomach and thighs. Warm and limber Jou stood and dressed, clothes already set out on a nearby seat in preperation for this morning. Warm fabrics and white pants that were skin tight, but made of a stretchy material so as to allow freedom of movement that normal jeans otherwise would not, made the pile. On top of that pile was the tawn, handmade, Italian leather side harness for Jou's Mateba revolver.
A thermal singlet and long sleeved shirt, the material close but not constricingly so, were covered by a black, woolen jumper. The same jumper was also responsible for covering the holstered handgun while its material was heavy, thick, and made of the finest, and warmest, alpaca wool. High ankle black and white boots, heavily lined and thick soled, perfect for the Glacial village, were sitting patiently under the chair. A cable knit black scarf rested on the back rest, also waiting to be adorned. Dressed, yet not completely ready, the large jumper hanged low enough to reach mid thigh while the matching scarf was thick and long enough to obscure the bottom of the Italian Dragoon's face. Resting against the wall behind the chair was the rifle and a rectangular black bag. Taking a single, and purposeful, step over Jou reached down and picked up the rifle first, sliding its long, single strap over a head and arm before shifting until it seated itself snugly and comfortably between shoulder blades and down the spine and hip. Next was the rectangular bag, with its long strap tucked and wrapped into a loop while another clasp was attached through a loop and clasp and thus making it into a form of back pack which was then put over the rifle, its straps tightened so as not to fall loosely down the length of the gun. Pulling the scarf up a little higher, Joushi turned to face the bed, finding Kit sitting upright and ready. With a nod of the head, Kit was given the all clear, telling her to approach the hotel window, following her master and leaping up onto the sill and out into the air, two sets of wings sprouting from her front limbs and body becoming elongated and serpentine. Her hind legs merged with her body and a set of short, sharp front claws were perched under the join of her wings.
Stepping up onto the window sill, Joushi closed the window while simultaniously leaping forward into the air, falling a single story before landing onto the back of the flying Byakko. Her musclular, scaled body dented under the force, her body curving and tail following the path, however it was off set by the downward beat of her wings, white feathers gleaming in the moonlight. Legs wrapped around the sides of Kit's thick body, Joushi leaned forward to reduce wind shear as the demon turned and began flying towards the mountains, the sun beginning to tint and tinge the horizon.

❝I am Beast Charmer and Dragoon. I am Heir to the very wind caressing you.❞
The young heir to the Barthomeloi family was sitting on the edge of the bed watching the battles progress, yet they all seemed to be at a standstill, but that was until another screen appeared, this time it was on his left. With the three screens up, Ignazio clicked on it and the images of Joushi and Alaric appeared. Ignazio covered his mouth and began to laugh hysterically at the match up. ”They call that a match up?! That’s like sending a lamb into a den of wolves. There’s no way that little wind apparition is going to be able to beat Joushi.” Ignazio forced out of his deprived oxygen body. The laughter brought the male to tears and even caused him to falter backwards and fall on the ground. Ignazio continued to laugh as he crawled into a ball and tried to calm himself in order to watch the match. After two minutes of straight laughter, the tamer managed to regain his composure and retrieved his seat on the lush bed. Crystal eyes looked at the screens and they seemed to narrow as he was looking at the match ups very closely. ”In terms of Joushi versus Alaric, they are both pretty even fighters, although as demons Joushi has more control over his demonic powers, yet he doesn’t use them as Alaric does so freely. The fact Joushi doesn’t have any demonic powers from what he told me, brings me to believe he’s more human than demon; but it doesn’t change the fact; its two blood brothers fighting against each other. This match won’t be decided on strength, it’ll boil down to strategy and in terms of strategy, Joushi has even me beat. Raw power on the other hand isn’t Joushi or Kit’s specialty, so this match might take a while, but then again, it might not…Alaric is fighting here and he’s not very…patient.” Ignazio said as he analyzed the first match. He looked at the area that was selected, as well as the proctor who was selected to watch the match; she wasn’t just an Exorcist, but she was a Demon Hunter, she was unaligned with the Order, but came back to perform specific tasks that paid the highest. She wasn’t a push over, if one of them went haywire, she’d kill them. Which brought Ignazio back to look at the screen of Titus and Akemi.
”Satan versus Iblis; this fight is a little harder to select a victor, but it will boil down to the one who can lose their humanity and fighter like a demon. That’s something they don’t teach in your first year at True Cross. As an exorcist, there are times when your humanity is questioned. They won’t get anywhere fighting each other with the basics. The winner will be decided easily, by the one who uses their demonic powers first. Will those brilliant blue flames devour the purification powers of the golden beast of fire? ” the male questioned as he shook his head from left to right and then turned to look at the screen in the middle and looked at the area in which Lloyd and Alexandria were fighting in. This was a match of pure strategy versus pure might. If Lloyd couldn’t out smart Alexandria he’d lose and if Alexandria couldn’t over power Lloyd she’d lose. At the rate things were going Alexandria was in favor to win this match. Ignazio didn’t even have to comment on it, because it was obvious at this point; Lloyd wasn’t using his skills to his full advantage.
Ignazio stood up and stretched his arms above his head and yawned as he noticed the matches weren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Reaching over to the phone on the night stand he pushed a single button and called room service. A small screen appeared above the phone and a woman began to speak to him. ”Hello, can I place an order for Barthomeloi?” he asked smiling before getting involved in a little small talk with the woman before giving his order and she read it back to him. ”That’s correct, one large specialty supreme pizza with extra cheese, a large bucket of popcorn, and a Coke.” he said confirming the order before hanging up the phone after she gave him a time frame and the price of the order that was being charged to the room. Ignazio smiled as he turned back and looked at the screens to find out if he missed anything else while he was ordering his late night meal to watch the fights. Ignazio knew some of the other high contenders were watching the exams within the viewing room on the ground floor, but Ignazio didn’t want to show his face so soon again. He wanted people to only know what he showed them, and that was enough for now. The tamer had yet to start thinking of counter plans for fighting any of his classmates or even the other students. Ignazio placed his left hand under his chin and began to think to himself for a second. ”I guess I could stay up late tonight and watch the recaps after these matches are over.”
Ignazio groaned as the exams were all called off and then he received a message from his father personally through the Vatican server. He was ordered to arrive at the Exorcist Hall just like all the others whom were called from their preliminary matches. Ignazio had already been dressed and ready to head out into battle at any time, so he didn’t need to waist anytime preparing. The tamer sighed as he stood up and removed his phone from the bed and turned off the displays. ”I have the feeling it has something to do with the strange fire that overtook the school. But if that’s the case the local fire department should have been there to put it out by now, so maybe I’m wrong.” the tamer pondered out loud as he made his way to the door and opened it before the lights turned themselves off. Ignazio tucked his cellphone into his rear pocket and exit the room allowing the door to close and lock behind him. The exwire continued to move forward and head to his next destination; Exorcist Hall, an area that he wasn’t so sure was the best place to be going right now if his gut was correct about what may be going on.
