Anyone ever play any games out of the Persona franchise? I'm not including P4 Arena because that's a fighting game, not an RPG.

I love the game because the creators give you characters you can relate to. If so and so is having an existential crisis, you feel for them. As you go through and interact with the Social Links you become genuinely attached to these people and help them face their problems and fears. The battles? I love the tactical forethought some enemies require you to use. The story? Absolutely enchanting. The story? It's great, but the characters? That is where the game truly shines, the same is also evident in other RPGs, not just by Atlus, but also by NIS and Square Enix as well.

Thoughts on the matter?

I haven't played that particular RPG franchise, but I have played some of the Final Fantasy games and the main Kingdom Hearts games (1 & 2). And ur right some of their characters you can totally relate to. I do remember feeling for the characters in those games when they are going thru s**t. The most emotional I think is Final Fantasy X where you know that Tidus will disappear after Sin and Yu Yevon are defeated and Yuna doesn't so she is basically blindsided by it at the end.

It's a very good game franchise, I would definitely recommend it.

And while I do hold FFX as my favorite Final Fantasy title yet, I think Zack's death in Crisis Core was more emotional, especially since you knew it was coming and there was no way for Zack to survive.

I never played Crisis Core, but I hafta counter with the fact that you also knew Tidus's death was coming and that he had no way to survive unless he chose to selfishly prevent Yuna whom he loved very much from accomplishing her goal of defeating Sin and as it was later modified to defeating both Sin and Yu Yevon once and for all. So I would hafta argue that it was probably just as equally emotional most likely if not more emotional since he knew it was coming and basically was forced to end up accepting it and chose to not stall it from happening sooner as compared to how stalling woulda allowed him to live longer and have more time to spend with Yuna and all of his friends. Afterall it takes real strength to know you will die and that there is a way to stall it if you wish to be selfish and then choose to not be selfish and to not stall your own inevitable death that is speeding towards you at amazing figurative speed.

Yeah, but did Tidus die fighting off an entire army? Solo? No, he died after taking on a giant whale monster with a bunch of other people.

Yeah, but the monsters within Sin, Sin's true Final Aeon Form, and not to mention facing Yu Yevon would be way more difficult that fighting an entire army solo even with the help he had.

Doubtful, but you forget that in the official canon, Tidus doesn't stay dead.

I didn't forget that actually. We were comparing FFX to Crisis Core so I didn't bring FFX-2 into the topic. And yes the fact that he does return to life during the Secret Ending of FFX-2 I guess does dampen the sadness factor of what happened to him at the end of FFX somewhat I guess.
