The garden seemed smaller than it truly was, due to the vines which had grown up on three of the surrounding walls and dotted them with colored blooms. The fourth wall was a colonnade with shadowed windows into the library. The mechanical bird cocked its head at Acar and fluttered to a birdbath, splashing in the shallow water with no ill effect. A nearby tree, trunk green with patina, bore golden leaves which rattled softly in the wind. Beyond that was a series of low boxes filled with vegetables and edged in small bright flowers.
It was dimmer within the manor house, just steps out of the reach of the sunlight. Dimmer and dustier. Iah'ryn's wings tucked close to his back as he edged around a stack of books and into the library. The library had once been ornate, but now looked more like an intellectual magpie's nest. Piles of books and papers were spaced around the floor and in chairs near a large brick fireplace. A desk sat under one of the arched windows looking onto the garden, the only genuinely clear space in the room. He snatched up a bag, tested its weight, then dumped out the contents onto a claw footed table. "I say, you don't have any idea of what sort of things we might be encountering on this adventure, do you?" He asked over his shoulder as he sorted through small metal instruments and bounded from pile to pile after things he had misplaced.
((I'm sorry about making you guys wait for a couple of days, life got busy and I can't post from my phone.))

Acar wondered at the smallness of the garden and how Iah'ryn had efficiently managed the space. Small trees and shrubs were everywhere, bracketed by vines and planter boxes. The space was tightly packed with just enough room for the inhabitant to move around and tend his plants. Acar was glad that his sword training regime wasn't being forced into this small space.
((I understand, I've been having a really rough couple of weeks. 2 funerals and a health scare from my grandmother.))

Sera craned her neck a few times, looking at the precarious stacks, marveling that they didn't come crashing down on top of them as Iah'ryn slipped by. She followed carefully and perhaps easier since she was lower to the ground than her guide. Finally arriving in a spot she could breathe easily, she sat down, tucking her tail over her talons, "Oh, no. Would not be much of an adventure if I could predict all the trials and tribulations?" She replied easily, "It would be prudent to bring your primary weapon of choice and perhaps a back-up."

"Weaponry, of course." Iah'ryn didn't like the sound of that. He wasn't really trained in any sort of combat. He swallowed his fear and gave Seraphina a nod, finally dislodging Scout. The rabbit tumbled down into his arms, fortunately, and from there she leapt to the floor. Iah'ryn checked the contents of his bag once more, muttered to himself, and pulled a few small, hardy books from a nearby shelf. Satisfied, he danced his way around another pile of books to keep from encroaching on the gryphon's personal (gryphon-al?) space and led the way back out to the garden and Acar. "Then I suppose I am as ready as I shall ever be for an adventure. Where are we going...?"
(("You want weapons? We're in a library! Books! The best weapons in the world!" ^^ But seriously, all I'm dealing with is the busy part of a theatre production. Panthera, I hope things are improving and people are recovering.))

Scout shook herself before leaping up and floating down to settle on Sera's body as soon as the gryphon stood. She settled on the larger creature's rump, her long ears draping on either side of her new ride.
Sera didn't mind, the little one barely weighed anything. She remained silent and still while their newest companion moved about. That sharp spike of fear she caught told her that he wasn't a warrior. The library around her could have told her that but she hadn't wanted to assume; she'd known some wily librarians in her time. She followed him now, back through the labyrinth of stacks and out into the sunlight. She was a bit surprised when she sighed, being out in the open air, having not noticed shed been feeling a bit claustrophobic in there. At Iah'ryn's question, Seraphina turned to Acar since he had the orb and Daystar had turned it into their compass for the journey.

Silently pulling the orb from his small bag, he held it in one hand. It pulled gently and Acar moved his hand and body until the orb was pointing his arm out and down.
"I believe we need to travel towards the goblin realms. That unfortunately means we're likely to have to go into tunnels as well, and that the smelly little buggers may try and pile on us. Thankfully I've dealt with goblins before, and if you wave a big enough sword at them, they tend to keep away."
((Fine for now. Other stuff has come up, making life difficult. I'm not likely to have as much time to post as I did before.))

Iah'ryn hardly heard Acar's words as his attention was stolen by the orb hovering slightly above his hand. It was a misty opaque white and had no external indication of why it was pulling the Djinn's hand toward the ground and the earth far below. He hurried forward, lifting the orb gently from Acar's hand and turning it over, examining it. "A miniature levitation orb? I wonder if I could reverse engineer this and determine what makes them defy gravity." It tugged gently, as though it wanted to lead them. "We have to follow this where? I don't know how to deal with goblins..."
((Do what you've got to do, we'll still be here.))

Scout leaped off her perch on Seraphina to once more land on Iah'ryn's head. She thumbed her hind leg once on top of his head just as Seraphina said, "We must follow. We will fight whatever gets in our way. For now, leave the orb unmolested, it is not ours to give away." She opened her wings a bit, ruffled them and then pulled them back in, settling them tight against her body. If they were going down, they wouldn't be needed.

Acar gently took the orb back from Iah'ryn. "If we are ready, may I propose we start travelling? The longer we take, the more likely something drastic will happen."
Letting the orb direct him, he floated up and out of the garden, directing the small group towards a set of very large mountains, the peaks almost reaching the bottoms of the lowest islands.
As they came closer to the ground, the orb in Acar's hand tingled for a moment. Frowning at it for a moment, he looked around and spotted something that he hoped to avoid. A small island, barely large enough for a small house, was falling from the sky. It impacted into the side of one of the mountains they were heading towards and moments later, the echoing crack of stone hitting stone reached the groups ears. Frowning, Acar sped up as fast as he could, heading towards the mountains and the fallen island.

"Ow, alright." Iah'ryn willingly returned the orb and pulled Scout down into his arms, lest she decide to thump him again.
He took off after Acar, copper and silver wings beating the air until he could glide. Scout wiggled her way free, dropped, and let her ears catch the wind to follow as well. Iah'ryn had just begun to relax into the idea of an adventure when a small island plummeted to the mountains below. He mumbled a few choice words and rushed to keep pace.

Sara didn't bother muttering her choice words as she watched the island fall. She had no idea how little time they actually had! Her wings pushed her after the men as all three of them made their frantic way down. Could anyone possibly have survived that? Perhaps they had gotten off in time?

Player: Meroko-chii Character name: Xephilia “Xephie” Race: Angel Class: Mainly healer, but can use a bow (Ranger?) Speciality: Herbology, Protective spells and wards Description: Xephie is a slender woman with long platinum blonde hair and goes down to her waist. Her eyes are an ocean blue with a hint of green and she has fair skin. Her wings have white feathers and her wings almost touch the ground, but not quite. She wears priestess robes that are a pale blue with silver trimming on them. She carries a longbow with her as well as a small pack and pouch, which is on her waist. Anything else: Xephie was assisting people and curing the sick on the island before it collapsed down to the world beneath them. While she was making sure that people were evacuating one of the buildings, the building collapsed and crushed her left wing under stones. She managed to use a protective ward in a wide radius around her, which saved her when the island crashed. A priest and his apprentice found her and took her in to tend her wounds and her wing. Until she fully heals, she currently resides at the church as a nun, helping and praying with the people. She has learned new things about the religion and how society worked, but she hasn’t been outside of the town that the church is nearby.
